    Max is 28 here - looks about 18 but he´s just as good then, as he is now - The last great analyst of the HBO era still calling fights.

      100%, my boxing coach at the time did. I was thinking, "If he thinks that maybe I don't have a very good coach " 😆

      The only argument to that is Lewis was too big and skillful but that was before Emmanuel trained him.
      In ‘92 Tyson wins by a unanimous decision.

      @@besikantidze6242 Lennox wasn't at his best 10 years previous to this contest. Lennox the Time he battled Shannon Briggs was at his best.

      Lennox Lewis had a glass chin.. He got knocked out by Rahman a year prior & Tyson is a harder puncher than Rahman so I can see why ppl chose Tyson

    Lennox is the only man on Earth who calls Tyson stupid. Everyone else thinks Mike is the wisest man out there.

      Lennox was 100% right and it’s still true. You people and your athlete worship culture is borderline terrifying.

    It's crazy how much Mike declined in one year. He was in great shape for the Savarese fight, and was fast as hell and sharp. He had still been sharp enough vs. Francis and Norris. But by the time he got to Golota, he was too heavy and had lost a tremendous amount of ability. I guess tons of booze, coke, and whores will take its toll. Just ask Michael Dokes, RIP.

    • @wavyamar

      I agree! He was in amazing shape during the UK tour was still very light.

    • @generalkang1969
      @generalkang1969 Рік тому +3

      Saying Tyson was sharp enough for Orlin Norris, Julius Francis, or Lou Savarese, is not really saying anything when the guy he was going to step in with was Lennox Lewis. Lewis is easily the best fighter that Tyson ever faced; the only guy close to Lewis was Evander Holyfield... and it is telling that both those guys owned Mike Tyson.

    • @joeblough261
      @joeblough261 Рік тому +1

      Sure, but the point was that in one year his physical condition and sharpness had plummeted to not even close to what it was a year or so prior. Would he have been good enough to beat Lennox? We'll never know, but if he didn't come in 10lbs overweight and had he trained properly, the version who beat Lou undoubtedly would've had a better chance. I think on top of all the lifestyle issues were a part, but I also think some of the prescription medicine he was on for various mental conditions contributed to it too.

    • @generalkang1969
      @generalkang1969 Рік тому

      @@joeblough261 oh I think we can know - Lennox would have beaten Tyson nine times out of ten at that point --- the result against the previous fighters is not even comparable... Lewis' win over Botha was more dominant than Tyson's...Julius Francis ended his career with a losing record (i.e. wasn't a worthy opponent)... that's Tyson's career in a nutshell - easy wins against lesser opponents, and only a single win against first-tier fighters (Larry Holmes two years into retirement)

    • @joeblough261
      @joeblough261 Рік тому +1

      @@generalkang1969 I'm not talking about the result of those fights, I'm talking about Tyson and what the eye test told me of where he was as a fighter. The comparison of common opponents isn't the best measuring stick, as styles make fights, and so does timing. Doesn't mean you take credit away Lewis for the Botha fight, or Ruddock fight, etc., but there's way more to it than that. Lennox 2.0 (the Manny Steward version) would present a problem for Mike at any stage of Mike's career. He was huge, strong as hell, and knew how to fight "big", and it would be hard as hell for short 5'10" Mike to get inside, and also to not get tired from dealing with all 250lbs of Lewis leaning on him, etc. I think the pre-Steward Lewis gets sparked out vs. a prime Mike though, as he was too raw and hadn't filled out body-wise yet and didn't know how to use his attributes to their fullest. Hell, Lennox was getting taken to school by Bruno before landing the big shot, and up until the mid 90's, the only real guys he fought were Tyson's leftovers (Ruddock, Bruno, Biggs, Tucker) and got one-punch KO'd by two B-level fighters with nowhere near the skill of Mike. When it happens twice, it's not a coincidence. At the end of the day I think The Pugilist Specialist was an all-time great heavyweight who suffered from missing out on fighting some of the HOF'ers in their prime, which wasn't all his fault (some guys ducked Lewis) but some was his (his KO loss to McCall derailed his plans badly). And Mike, excluding his delusional fans who still think "he was the best ever, he never would've lost if he didn't fire Rooney" blah blah, is now IMO underrated by the rest of the world, who make the silly claims that, "anytime a guy wasn't scared he lost" and who forget how devastating he was in annihilating good quality fighters at such a young age. Both a big part of heavyweight championship history.

    The only thing I was wrong about was the round. The fight went exactly how I thought it would. Tyson blazed early but when he felt Lewis power and skills he went into a shell. Same would have happened in thier prime Tyson loser fan boys.
