Zero-wiring 2step rev limiter with factory PCM in HPTuners/TunerPro - Beretta

  • I figured out a way to set up a 2-step rev limiter, controlled by the stock PCM with no wiring needed. It reacts super quick and it should work great for drag racing.
I originally tried wiring in a clutch switch to pin 32 of the PCM to trigger the P/N tables, but that didn't work at all. So I changed my strategy and repurposed the "closed throttle base spark" table. That's actually a better solution for a few reasons:
1 - Spark advance changes recover faster that fuel injector cut...
2 - It reacts quicker in the pedal swing without needing to trip a switch at the rest position. The clutch is already fully engaged when the pedal closes the CPP switch. But the wheel speed hits 1mph as soon as the clutch starts to engage
3 - No wiring...at all. Adding the Clutch Pedal Position switch requires running a wire to pin 32 to the P01 harness and grounding the other.

Me too man. I think I can dip into the 12s with the stock 4.8 with some 60' improvements

What do you use for data logging now that you use the obdx vx instead of the obd link? I tried using tuner pro but it doesnt seem to support the obdx?

@@cameronpierce5188 you're correct. I've been using PCMlogger that comes with PCMhammer. It's not awesome, but it will get you the data you need. You can import the data from PCMlogger into mega log viewer to get a better look, because it's kinda hard to see trends in excel.

@@GEARHEADdezign does that approach have support for afr through the egr v pid?

@@GEARHEADdezign Have you ever used torque pro on android? I set up an EGR V to afr PID/equation but I don't have a wideband yet (coming this winter). I haven't had the chance to try data logging with torque pro yet but it outputs a .CSV so theoretically it should be able to with with megalog viewer? I'm hoping to be able to get data logs without lugging around a laptop but we'll see how it goes.

@@cameronpierce5188 yeah, I used it a long time ago. I couldn't get my truck's OS to log wideband, but I never did try my Beretta

You can do it for free with LS Droid and TunerPro instead of hptuners. I have videos on that
