Its kinda neat that the plier is the bent style (or whatever thats called) that some people think are more ergonomic. But that only makes sense if you are using it a ton or for wrenching pretty hard. Its too flimsy for that. Its like a Pontiac Aztec. I appreciate that there is variety in the world.
I wish sog would just discontinue it so another company could come out with a better clone version. I've always wanted this tool as a kid so it's sad finding out it's not very good
@@ryangriffith1500 To be fair I just wish roxon takes the bivy clones and add custom blade system to it. Replace the can opener with an awl. And that would be it. So I can take a few blades with me and a bit kit and have a very versatile cheap multitool.
This could be in reaction to the season 2 - Silo TV series. In the show, the protagonist uses a SOG reactor, in season 1. I considered it a Taco Bell moment. She EDC it for her mechanic job. It is a sci-fi series on Apple TV. based on a well know book series.
SOG is frustratingly close to perfection with some of their designs, but it's annoying to see the low-quality manufacturing and poorly designed implements (the scissors on the PowerPint may as well be useless) My tool pouch has a PowerPint for wire cutting purposes (they're mean for their size), complemented by a pair of Knipex Cobra/Pliers Wrench. Those 3 can handle just about anything
I have a version 2, and the flip pliers gummed up with pocket lint. I had to send it back to SOG to have them fix it. (WD-40 didn't clear the gunk) Anyway I agree, it's not worth owning. For a lightweight multi tool, the Skelatool is better.
I feel like the button is also what draws it back. You put this in a pouch and that button pushes or it's in your pocket and you accidentally push the button. Unless you have an option to enable and disable the button.
For me the best knife switchplier is that bivy clone. For 20€ you have a sheath, a bit kit and a fun switchplier multitool. Nice blade, a philips for the bits, a flat bottle opener combo and a can opener. It's not the greatest by any means but for the price It's great, It's kind of similar to the buck xtract. But bivy like. I think if you search for lutavoy you can get something.
@@hvacbudget8600 I wish more manufacturers uses the switchplier style mechanism, but for things like scissors, ultra thin pliers, wire stripping pliers, and other things. When I showed my bivy clone to my co-workers they were amazed, they were like WTF switchpliers !!! Unfortunately it's no longer sold at aliexpress 😞
On another note just been over to the Leatherman shop new deals page and my word what is going on?? It’s like they are trying to sell tools to people that won’t/can’t use them. How do they think that will end??? Maybe worth another video?
This tool has potential for fishing, I would put a longer and thinner tip with a little more angle, a micro-serrated scissors and a hook sharpener. As a tool it is bad but to remove a hook you don't need much force and a one-handed head is very useful.

Another wannabe from SOG. They only need to improve the Powerpint quality to have the perfect edc multitool.

Another nice idea poorly executed...and too expensive. (Yeah I'm a penny pincher lol)
SOGs designs are fun but definitely needs to upgraded materials.
Junk
Agreed!
It would be better if they replace the file with some scissors
@@KEVIN-sx4xe on this definitely
Even the old Gerber Recoil had a safety.

Seems like a cool concept. Having internal tools seems counter productive. Quick deploy pliers and slow deploy everything else??
I've made several tries at commenting, nothing seems to stick. It's like UA-cam doesn't want to show my comments.
That's odd! UA-cam can be like that unfortunately. What do you think of this latest move from Sog?
@@hvacbudget8600 Man I made a huge comment with it's pre-history and origins. I'll redo it some other time.
You need better lighting for black / dark tools
I have one of the old ones. Love it
it just looks cheap
Sog needs to put better knives on their tools

I think the button could also use an additional lock feature so it doesn't accidently presses on the pocket

@@hvacbudget8600 There some interesting colour schemes going on over there. What may be good is the ARC obsidian?
My experience with SOG is that they have awesome designs, but break easily.
