The video game characters took it to another level, when the shooter said he was hearing voices from his video game it put Tomasz in a league of his own, his "poker face" was a character all by itself lol his Boss had serious game too...
(SPOILER ALERT) I don't know why no one mentioned it yet in any review (that I've seen). The part about the guy organizing the shooting of the labor party, is exactly the same process/ideals as Brejvik. (the guy in norway that killed 70+ of the labor party in norway, in an island). The motivations are exactly the same as the one in the movie, as you can read on Brejvik's 1500 page manifesto. In short, it's about fighting the extreme influx of immigration, particularly one of different religions, thus hitting the far-left party that is trying to enable the max amount of such immigration. The one in the movie is literally a readaptation of Brejvik's attack, in a different country/setting. On a separate note, brejvik's manifesto is quite an interesting read, save the part where he derails into his ''solutions''. But the beginning parts about history explain very well how politcal correctness/identity politics came around, starting from the beginning of the 1900s. It is all properly referenced, I was actually quite surprised at the scale of the work he had put into it. You can find a pdf copy online, worth a read at least for the first parts, explains pretty well how we got to this ridiculous state of identity politics.
PS: even the part about the attacker playing mmorpgs is copied from brejvik, he was in fact playing sevreal hours a day of WoW. Actually, after seeing this, i wonder: is the author maybe implying that Brejvik was not alone in his actions? The attack is clearly an exact copy of his actions, so maybe that's what the author is trying to say? 5:30 that's why i don't agree with that part of your negative. The mmorpg aspect is reflecting exactly what Brejvik was doing prior to his infamous attack. It's not random at all :)
Easily the best movie Ive ever seen. You dont need Hollywood hype or A Listers for a decent well thought out movie. Well written and brilliant acting and directing. I was hooked from the beginning. I have to watch it again.
Couldn’t agree more. I was so excited I could finally talk about it, and it’s so relevant in today’s social media world. It’s a dark thriller I can’t recommend enough
Very enthralling movie, deserves a way larger audience, my only complaint is that I wish that the lead saw greater consequences for his actions (hit the audience with some sort of clever takeaway) OR that they had gone the other direction and pointed towards his next big play (something even worse and more grandiose, potentially a sequel, although probably best to avoid a sequel I'm not sure they could do this movie justice with it and it wrapped up fairly neat as it is now).
Idk I liked the ending, it felt like the bigger kicker that he won even though he really shouldn't, It even had that kind of fairytale/ unreal feeling to it. It was like hearing brexit results or trump winning in 2016
Did someone understand the background of Tomasz ? Where does he come from ? It is mentioned many times that his family is kinda weird (I remember the scene at the beginning where the Krasuckas say he could kick a bee nest while young, but also Beata asking why his mother was burried in Netherlands), but we get no further information about that
It's hinted that he may be a refugee of the Chechen war or likely the Fmr. Yugoslavia. "When we found Tomek in his village". The Netherlands has a large diaspora of Albanian and Bosnian refugees from Yugoslavia. Also, it looks as though he has a scar on his right side of his face under his eye - perhaps surviving an airstrike. Tomek may have been adopted by Polish if his parents were killed in the war. (Can't explain the funeral in Holland though.) Given Tomek's likely age in his late teens, early 20s and the timeline of the Yugoslav war and Bosnian wars (both would have been occuring when Tomek was a baby or youg child.)
The „game” scenes are connected to the first movie called „Suicide room”. You should watch it. It isn’t necessary to Watch it before The Hater but it shows Beata’s life and her first son (Tomek’s boss). It’s also amazing and the „game” scenes make more sense.
JBuck Studios it’s not new movie but it’s really good and it shows how teenage boy (Beata’s son) is being bullied at school. After suffering extreme humiliation at school, Dominik holes himself up in his room and begins spending all his time in a virtual reality chat room. During this time, in this game he meets a group of people that are fascinated by death. Over time, Dominik loses contact with the real world, becoming more engrossed in a virtual world. This movie is very emotional and deep.
Unfortunately it is not on Netflix but it is a good movie. It was a different story unlike The Hater but there are details to it that links the two movies. Also the complete title of The Hater is "Sala Samobojcow. Hejter" which means "Suicide Room. Hater" which they derived the title from the prequel.
I didn’t know that they were related but as soon as I saw that rpg game scene It reminded me of suicide room. it’s a really neat call back that they used it in this movie too! but I also agree it takes away some of the immersion aspect
The way he holds himself throughout the film gives me very Patrick Bateman vibes from American Psycho, but whereas Bateman is a psychopath, this guy is more of a master manipulator / sociopath. Excellent movie!
@@JBuckStudios I saw in the comments someone said that Suicide Room is a prequal / sequel (can't remember which) - I'd love another movie like this but idk if it could be executed as well as this one. Sometimes a great movie is meant to be left to its own glory!
please watch suicide room its so underrated and is basically the prequel to this, its about beatas son (who they showed in a photo). its really sad and in my opinion the better one
*Thanks for watching! What did you think of this new Polish film, THE HATER?*

Hollywood has become a propaganda machine for a certain political party in the United States... so hard to find a decent movie from there nowadays.
I feel the same - it was quite long but didn't in one bit feel long, like other films such as the Godfather, The Reverent , etc
It reminded me of The Talented Mr. Ripley. Someone trying to fit in with people of a higher social class. Yes, I liked it.
Ohh that’s a solid comparison. I like that!
Yes, also The Talented Mr. Ripley meets Heath Ledger's Joker who wants revenge on High Society

The prequel of this (Suicide Room) is my favorite movie and I am so hyped watching this. Not disappointed. I really love this
I didn’t realize this was a prequel! Very much curious what the sequel has in store

@@user-yi7rx1xl8f Beata was the mother of the protagonist from previous movie
Watched the movie and it was great
It so suspenseful and eerie creepy in today’s world
A very important film! And I liked it more than Komasa’s Oscar-nominated Corpus Christi :)
Awesome! A very timely film as well with all of the dirty social media
