    Amazing stuff as always, Rami. Would be really interesting to see how it compares to Dji L2 using your test methodologies. Thank you

    I like this concept… my only issue is how much room it takes to bank turns when you are dealing with busy streets bordering the site perimeter I need to fly.
    It looks like You don’t seem to mind flying over traffic due to your flight plan seeming to fly directly over a freeway…
    Is it not as big an issue as part 107 leads us to believe?

      I don't know of any survey firm that follows the rules 100%, it would be impossible to fly all the DOT projects and urban areas. Obviously you should do you best to minimize flight lines over roads, sidewalks etc where people are expected to be. I'm all for the rules personally, but It's just not practical or economical to shut down everything like the P107 rules say to do. In my opinion it's safer to fly it than have a surveyor stand on the side of the road exposed to traffic for hours on end trying to collect data.

      He still broke the rules flying over people and moving vehicles. No way I, or my company would do that. Pick the correct tools for the project.
      If that area needed LiDAR a better solution would be manned aircraft. Yes, I know it is way more expensive to collect data that way. But the alternative could be crashing the Wingtra on a highway and causing a serious accident.

    Thank you for the inside look at the entire process of fieldwork and data collection with the LiDAR sensor!
    How are things with the regulations there for flying with this category of UAVs over urban areas and over people? And also whether fixed wing is a good platform for LiDAR data collection in an urban area? I believe the sensor is hindered in its position inside the drone (almost the entire sensor is entirely in the platform) and loses its ability to collect oblique data, which is vital for accurate data collection on building facades etc.
    However, I look forward to seeing the quality of the data and analytics.
    Thank you again and keep up the good work!!!

    Can you make a video about photogrammetry using 360 degree cameras like insta360 and creating point cloud with software like agisoft metashape

    Nice! When mapping a mountain terrain , and have 200M difference in Height? Should the Drone be a fixed height above the highest point and stay at that height for the entire flight, or follow the terrain at eg 30m?

    • @AndreWingtra
      @AndreWingtra 2 місяці тому

      During mission planning, you can enable "Terrain Follow" and the drone will adopt to the terrain

    This is a great video! How did you comply with 14 CFR 107.39, operations over people; 107.145 operations over moving vehicles; and 107.31, visual line of sight aircraft operation (especially when looking at the video camera and not the drone)? Personally, I think this video incriminates yourself and recommend you take it down. You do such great work (I especially like all the work you do with Emlid GNSS receivers), you don't need to deal with an FAA enforcement action or fine or anything that prevents you from continuing to make great videos!

    I love the theory but without a bvlos waiver might as well use a much more convenient quad

      @@jerseyshoredroneservices225Absolutely but certainly not safely covering a large part of a populated area. We have used an older model for some long transmission lines and could see much further than a quad but there were no people under the operation. VTOLs definitely have a place but for the most part we are using quads or manned aircraft

      Fixed wing is definitely not for every job but when the circumstances are right it can be a great solution.
      In some situations the remote pilot might even be able to chase the drone in a vehicle. That might be a great way to do miles of shoreline from a boat.

    You flew to high for wingtra lidar, amount of data is too low, these are not high end lidars like Riegl etc, they need lower altiute and low flight speed, but fixed wings drone does not fly so slow.

    Fantastic demo of this platform! Thank you. However, how are you able to legally fly over people and moving vehicles?? I don't think that mission was legal Rami.

      @@jerseyshoredroneservices225 Just look at the mission plan he made. It flys directly over roadways, homes, businesses. The aircraft will be flying over people and moving vehicles.

      You can fly over homes and businesses as long as they have roofs. You can fly over roadways if you fly when traffic is stopped or if there is no traffic. You can fly right over people and moving vehicles if you have a waiver.
      I understand what you're saying and I agree that it looks like the flight plan would likely cause violations. However, I don't think it's right to jump to the conclusion that there were violations. From watching the video, we don't really know.

    • @scottkarlins
      @scottkarlins 2 місяці тому +1

      @@jerseyshoredroneservices225Agreed, but you can’t just pause the mission with a Wingtra like you can with a quad rotor. There is no pause until traffic is no longer on the road with this aircraft. People are taking big risks flying over roadways they cannot see from either the aircraft’s point of view or being near the road when the aircraft flys by.
