- Gaurav Gogoi, is a second generation Congress politician from the state of Assam and is currently serving as the deputy leader of the Indian National Congress in Lok Sabha since 2020. Gaurav represents Kaliabor parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha since 2014 and is taking forward the legacy of his father Tarun Gogoi, longest serving chief Minister of Assam. Gaurav, an alumnus of New York University is said to be a family man and maintains a low profile, but happens to be very close to former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and defends his recent speech in London. In an animated conversation with Smita Prakash, Gaurav talks about his entry into politics, Himanta Biswa Sarma and accuses BJP of misusing central agencies. He also talks about NEDA, role of regional parties in the North East, opposition unity and Bharat Jodo Yatra.

One of the most disappointing interview i have seen in a long time... Mr. Gogoi has is far away from the actual reality of Indian political situation today... I am sure if this is the thoughts of all the party members then they will never comeback to power ever again... Too laid back... Congress might be good, or be better after some years. But not for northeast. The tag being the most ignored part of the country being northeast got developed due to utter ignorance received from INC national leaders and high command. (Which they will never accept) (latest eg: after loosing elections Kharge said northeast election doesn't matter since they are small states ) .For northeast, BJP is the only source of development, even after CAA issue, people voted BJP because of the importance the leaders give towards the masses. BJP will be in NE though there will be some influence of hindutva politics with it. But, the people are not dumb anymore to vote for INC again. I hail from Assam and this view has developed not in a day but over the years.

This is the first Podcast by Smita Prakash out of other podcasts, I didn't get proper benefit of discussion done with Mr.Gaurav Gogoi, a congress leader from Assam. In every sphere of discussion he was praising Rahul Gandhi and his divine walk of Bharat Jodo Yatra but as a citizen of India, I have a simple understanding of RG's Yatra was totally political to gain vote of the people. I remember a meeting of Rahul Gandhi with Lee Kuan Yew, former PM of Singapore. He once suggested Rahul Gandhi to become an influential leader he must connect with the people of India. He must do Bharat Darshan to explore and understand India. Whenever I listen to Rahul Gandhi, a thought comes in my mind always that before handling any post in Congress why he doesn't take an a comprehensive study of UPSC syllabus. If he pays attention to it then he will learn that what is the insight on India in terms of Historical, Geographical, Political, Economical, Sociological, Scientific & Technolgical development, National security, International Relation and finally Current Affairs. Mr. Gaurav Gogoi must be smart and efficient leader but if keeps himself under the shadow of Rahul Gandhi led Congress Party then he might not rise as per his expectations as a influential political leader in future. The congress party needs to revive his political ways thinking of giving importance to political opportunity to those who can lead well towards the path of good governance because we people want the same. And Shri N D Modi has marked a bar now where an eligible political leader would get opportunity to become PM or CM and any other authority from Central government to local government.
