When we were visiting China for the first time, one of our friends played us Red Sun by Hacken Lee. Instantly we fell in love with it. Such a hypnotically catchy beautiful feel good melody. We kept on listening to the song over and over again. Everybody was singing along. Good times, warm memories.
We decided to write English lyrics and record our own version.

I am a HongKonger. We learn both English and Cantonese/ 中文 in Hong Kong. Red Sun is considered one of HK's classics and a representation of the spirit of HongKongers.
It feels really refreshing to hear this song in English. Your translation is wonderful too, accurately reminding us all to never give up even when accounting difficulties in life.

The song "Red Sun" accompanied many of us in the 1990s. It's also an unforgettable classic song. I thought of a group of friends and teams working hard together and enjoying all the previous dragon dance competitions, regardless of friends. There are quarrels and fights, but the days together are happy

My teen cousin was playing this song all the time when I went back to Beijing in the 2000s. I heard it everywhere and the chorus stuck with me even though I didn't know a word or the name of the song.
My daughter is 9 years old. She loves the lyrics and says it's her favourite song. GREAT JOB!

This needs more views!!! I first found the Cantonese version in 2018, and I absolutely loved it. I listened to it so much that I could literally sing it. And I can't speak a word of Cantonese. The original Japanese version make no reference to the "Red Sun" whatsoever (given it is titled それが大事 - "Most Important Things", it makes sense)
The Cantonese version refers to it about twice in the lyrics.
The Mandarin version, also written by Hacken Lee, also refers to it twice.
Which is why, to me, stressing that the Sun is red in every single verse is strange … even more so because in English we don't usually describe the Sun as red. Usually.

Hi, its so great to have this song in english version instead of chinese version, Ive been waiting day one when the first song debut, is this eng;ish version same story as a chinese version?
Story is a little different but the feeling is the same. "Please don't feel disheartened - don't give up". Soon we will have a new video for it filmed on our tour of China last month.
