This was a great tutorial. I watched it several times. I'm happy to report that I successfully installed my new toilet. Proud new homeowner here. Thanks again.
That's awesome! Congrats on your new home!
nice
Of all the DIY toliet installs I've watched, you were the only one who covered the problem of a flange not above the floor surface. Thanks.
Love it! Simple, precise, concise and to the point. NOT TOO MUCH SMALL TALK. This is AWESOME!!!!!! Thank you Sir.
I watched this and I literally changed my toilet after nd I’m pregnant I literally feel like I can do anything now💁🏾♀️😌
Wow amazing job 💕
You gave me hope !! ❤ hoping I can accomplish this!
@@pi-chizimany929It’s easier then you think. Just get help to install it. These things are heavy by your self.
Wow... Impressive
Such a satisfying feeling when you can do it yourself.
I highly recommend using a Shop/Vac to remove the water from the tank and bowel. The vacuum is very quick. The vacuum is also handy to suck up any water that may leak from the water supply connecter hose.
This!
Wow so I am a general contractor and Home Depot Advocate ,but you guys are killing it with these videos. These videos allowing anyone to do easy home improvements themselves!!! You could pay 250 plus in just labor.
You should check our there walls video's they are killer and that guy needs his own dyi show.
This was a great to the point video. It was amazing. My husband and I were able to do it without any issues. Thank you for saving us 300 bucks!!!
one of the best how to videos. Great pace. great description. Thank you for just explaining the job and not spending half the time with small talk
First time replacing a leaky old toilet with a new one and your instuctions were a huge source of good information. Thank you.
This vid was a life saver. I followed every step and switched out my own toilet with no issues.
Extremely helpful for a first time installer. Great video, short and to the point. Thank you
Great to hear. Thank you!
Dang, a response from Lowe’s themselves 😮
Thanks for the very informative video. I went to Lowe's yesterday and picked up a Kohler toilet and it took about 90 minutes to install. No surprises or leaks. And I am not the handiest guy around...
Well, now you ARE the handiest guy around.
Man this video is a lifesaver. Local plumbing company was going to charge me $700. After watching this video I did it in 30 minutes
Lowes charges $249 to install a $100 toilet. GTFO
Problem is if smt happens and your speedway burst. Ur insurance company won’t give u any compensation. Btw as a plumber if you’re going to change your toilet change your speedway also, they are typically the first thing to give up in a house. Cheers
@@jonahs-t1979what the “speedway”?
@@grinchlette the water source to the toilet, and don’t cheap out when buying them! Invest in some good ones.
$700 is a good deal
Now this is how you make a how to, every single piece of information you need, pitfalls to avoid, absolutely no fluff.
Just finished my second toilet from this video. Everyone please don’t do like me… DO NOT FORGET THE RAG IN THE PIPE!! Almost had a second floor spill. The wax ring was still intact when I lifted it up again, but I’ll keep an eye out. Thanks again Lowe’s!
This is why when I want to learn to do something, I watch multiple videos. Good tip for the water solidifier.
Followed this paired with the manufacturer directions that came with my toilet and got the job done in under 30 minutes. Thank you for this! You're the only video I found that suggested the water solidifier
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful!
I watched this before replacing a toilet in a manufactured home from 1993. It was nice to watch someone go through all the steps in the instruction manual.
30 weeks with twins and this is my exact plan😂 hes doing gods work for us nesting mamas
Excellent video, im a new homeowner and this makes things a lot easier, thanks Lowes!
I’ve watched a number of different videos on this subject by diyers, plumbers, other businesses. This is by far the best one. Thanks!
Mmhb b
As
You can use a toilet plunger to push the water out of the bowl as an option
I was thinking the same thing. I had no idea there was a "water solidifier".
I think I can check this task off my list by following this video, pretty thorough.
Exactly what I needed to see and explained perfectly. Thank you!
Excellent explanation of the process, very detailed. I followed these instructions and saved a lot money instead of having a plumber do the work. Thanks.
You forgot to tighten the first set of toilet tank nuts that seal the tank bolt heads on the tank bottom. You can easily see the bolts move around when you tightened the second set of nuts securing the tank to the base. The bolt end nuts are not used to seal the bolt head washer seals. How could you not both see and feel the bolt(s) looseness ?
Lol I like how they just ignored that and YOU!! Haha Thanks man!!
I just used this tutorial to install a new toilet. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge!! Keep making these videos and helping people save money.
We're so glad that you found this video helpful, Leonard! What's the next DIY project on your list?🛠️
Looks easier than i expected, thanks!
5 years of plumbing apprenticeship in 5 minutes. Thanks Lowes
lmfao
im saving a load doing my own plumbing
Which makes sense UNTIL you run into old house problems. These might be sets or a brand new house where everything is new and easy.
Thank you, Sir, for this very helpful video! Will definitely do it myself, and save some money for the next vacation!
How to construct a fence
At Lowe’s
When setting toilet ( 3:00 to 3:10 ) ,,,
1 - should you check for it being level at all ,, ?
2 - would you ( if needed because of slight uneven flooring for some reason ) place plastic shims under toilet to level out ,, ?
( I read somewhere to use plastic , because wood shims ,, if getting wet ,,, would be ruined ) Thanks for any input / info .
I like the clarity of these instructional videos
Thank you, this video was very helpful with my new toilet install.
We're glad that you found this tutorial helpful!💙
This is so much better than the home depot video. Thanks for this.
Love the video, Very Helpful
Thank you! This video helped
me a lot with a new toilet install.
We're so glad that you found this tutorial helpful! 🔧
Great instructional, thanks. I am going to replace a toilet within the next few weeks.
Well I followed your directions and tonight I installed a new "tuscany michigan dual flush toilet". Your directions were flawless. The only things that I had to be careful about was the different hardwaresome of the hardware was different, but other than that, your directions were great. Thanks!
Thank you for such an easy to follow how to! I just replaced my whole toilet(1st time!) video was perfectly laid out!
Great video. Helped me do it right first try and first time ever replacing a toilet. Took me about a hour and half
Very helpful tutorial. I recommend getting toilet shims, the hard plastic ones. My new toilet had about half an inch of “bounce room” that you only noticed when sitting on it. It didn’t leak, but that bounce may have eventually cracked the base. The shims part number I used was 247885. Thanks Lowe’s!
This the problem I'm having, my husband replaced our toilet. and when I sit on it I can feel it lift up.
I'd talk to a plumber. Often what happens is someone cheapskate out on doing the tile under it correctly. It winds up w a space it's not supposed to have which will eventually leak or crack. They make spacers for that which go by the wax ring. But I'd ask to make sure you don't miss anything.
So basically it would rock side to side? Looking at replacing mine and ours has always had a little rock to it. I'm thinking when someone put the tile down previously they didn't get things leveled out between the flange and toilet well enough.
U did such a great job explaining thank u
Awesome job & description , thank you...
Thank you, this was the best video on UA-cam
TOILET INSTALLED THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL THANKS
thanks, I didn't know about the water solidifier! was wondering what I was going to do about that
Thank you!! We're thinking about trying it this weekend!! Toilets on sale too!!
It's your destiny, Melanie!!
Thanks! For this step by step video…we just changed our new toilet 🚽
Great video! Thanks for the help!
This should be everyone’s go to video to change a toilet. I mean flawless job man. Thank you.
I will say this. This was my first time doing this I took pictures of everything (ocd, nervous), and I surprised myself. job well done
VERY USEFUL VIDEO, THANK YOU 😊
Great video!
Just remember to make adjustments for any difference in flange/ring heights with respect to finished flooring.
Best wishes.
How do I know what “trap size” toilet to buy?
How to measure the height of flange so I know which one should I use?
thanks I followed your tutorial and the job is done. thanks much
Thanks! I'm watching this while I'm taking a dump
You make this look so easy
thanks so much for showing this video.
Great job this was really helpful
This video makes me hope Lowe's doesn't go out of business. Well done, Lowe's.
they def won't. their money is in companies and construction sites via vendor contracts. Like with the govt with printer contracts. A company bids and provides a service.
Thank you so much!!! Awesome and easy tutorial. Installed my toilet no prob with this
Great job with all of these videos!
Thanks for sharing this, very helpful ,I am going to do it tomorrow, I feel ready.
You got this!
Very cool design of the toilet tank, with no extra protrusions through the tank, to reduce where water can leak out of.
Very well presented and easy to follow. Thank you.
How to remove a flange ring if it's rusted
We have a clogged toilet at our old house and thanks I hope this helps
Wow Great video , thanks for showing us
What a great tutorial!
Don’t use the rubber replacement gasket. Stick with the wax ring to get a good seal.
This would have been a great piece of info IN THE FCKING VIDEO. Just finished and have a gd leak because of it
This a one man job? Awesome!!!! 👍😎
Saved me $500. Perfect.
Thank you so much sir ! You ‘re a professional !
Too easy! Thank you.
I'm glad I see this because it seems so hard to set without water coming from the bottom of it.Thank you ⭐
Helpful. Thanks. The closet bolts that came with an American Standard toilet were barely long enough. Do yourself a favor and buy some longer bolts. You can always cut them down after tie-down. American Standard: would it kill you to add a spare inch or two?
This is simply awesome... Thank you very much. Afnan from Bangladesh
Thank you friend, I am now brave enough to do this
Just phenomenal
Thank you really appreciated!!!!
Found this after seeing that the video from the orange home store didn't even address taking out the old toilet. They started with installing a new toilet in a new house. WTF??? I needed to know how to take the old one out without getting water all over the place as I removed it. Thanks, Lowes, for doing it right when HD never does.
I might add to press it down in all 4 directions: I followed each step, then had a leak at the base, and when I undid everything the wax ring wasn't smooshed at the back...even though my flange is level with the tile. I'm going to re-instill with a maxwax ring.
Do i have to worry about sewer gases if I have the toilet installed but i can't hook-up the water line because it is too short?
Very helpful
It's nice when all the fittings and hardware are new.....you should make a video about a crapper that's been sitting there for 30 years or better....
Okay so exactly when do you install the caulk ?
Great video
Now I know how to install a toilet now
wow thank you
Thats handy! I was going to hire a plumber to install but this looks super easy?!
You can totally do it! Let us know how your install goes and if you have any questions.
@@lowes You have some amazing prices on toilets right now! I am going in tomorrow to pick up 2 of them and install them myself! If its as easy as the video seems... You will have saved me over $300!! ( the price of TWO of your toliets, since you have huge discounts right now! )
Thank you
Great video!
thank you. you got rid of my old toilet that was broken. and yay i have a new one
Thank you sir, I appreciate it
That thumbnail tho lmao it's the most aesthetic toilet i've ever seen
A true throne ✨🚽✨
Lowe's Home Improvement Thanks for validating my comment Lowe's social media management team
Tip: Buy an extra packet of the water solidifier for the tank.
No, just go before you flush, abd then sponge it out. If you tilt it a bit, you'll be able to move it and deal w water later v
How do you know if you're over-tightening the tank bolts?
Great question, Zack! To prevent over-tightening the bolts, give the tank a gentle nudge-if it's wobbling, tighten those bolts. If it's steady, you're good to go and there is no need for further adjustments. We hope this helps. 👍
thanks for sharing ur knowledge....thumbs up
I learnt a lot thanks.
You video is fantastic and great. Thank you for your painstaking work more grease to your elbow and more wisdom always my. What sealant can you recommend to seal the toilet to the floor?
It's just calk. Applied with calk gun.
When I saw this video, I thought to myself, 'There's no way it can be that easy.'
But, I followed the points outlined here, and installed the wax ring using the technique in the video, and now I'm asking myself, was that as easy as it seemed?'.. I guess it's easy when you know what you're doing, lol! Thanks!
Great tutorial
Thanks so much, Brent! 😊
You should have mentioned that a replacement should always change the supply line too if it's been over 7 years or so. Since you also sell supply lines, seems bad business to leave that part out. I do like the tip about no caulk to see leaks
Thank you. I think I can do that. I will see cause I'm off to buy a new toilet. Thanks again.
