  • Wrightwood is a mountain town near Los Angeles with snow during the winter for snow play.
    OVERVIEW:
There are lots of mountains around Los Angeles and Orange County that get snow during the winter. While most people go to Big Bear, Wrightwood is also a great option for snowplay.
It’s a small mountain town on the north side of the Angeles National Forest. It’s home to Mountain High, a popular ski resort in Southern California. Because it’s on the north side, the snowfall tends to last a little bit longer.
It’s about an hour closer than Big Bear, and there are no windy mountain roads to get, even though it’s almost at the same elevation as Big Bear.
One advantage is that there are multiple places off the side of the road for free snow play that aren’t private property, as it’s in the Angeles National Forest.
The town of Wrightwood also has restaurants and shops.
    PARKING:
Be sure to follow and obey signs for parking. Some snow play areas have free parking lots and some have availability on the side of the road. Some parts of the road have designate no parking, so be mindful of that.
