  • The new Bexley library based at The Nest, Thamesmead officially opened its doors to the public this week (12 April).
The Leader of the Council, Cllr Baroness O’Neill of Bexley OBE officially opened the library along with John Lewis, Peabody’s Executive Director for Thamesmead and the Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Nick O’Hare.
Cllr Baroness O’Neill was joined at the event by the Council’s Cabinet Member for Place, Cllr Peter Craske, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Philip Read and Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Richard Diment.
The library is home to the usual fantastic selection of books for all ages, regular library events, computer workspace with free internet access and meeting rooms. There are plans for the space to be used for Children’s Centre services in the very near future.
The Nest building is already home to community groups and local organisations, and a base for Peabody’s communities team.
