- The final episode of Season 4 features none other than the legendary vidwan Shri Madurai TN Seshagopalan, Padma Bhushan awardee and Sangita Kalanidhi.
Endowed with a rich voice and remarkable creativity, his versatile style in raga delineation, rendition of krithis, execution of swaraprasthara and uniqueness in ‘Ragam-Tanam-Pallavi’ exposition has received copious appreciation from his peers, press and music lovers all over the world.
As a brilliant composer of Krithis, Thillanas in Carnatic and Hindustani ragas and a tunesmith, having composed music for Tamil literary works such as Kamba Ramayanam, Nalayira Divya Prabandham and a thematic dance presentation titled ‘Seasonscape’ for the dance institution Tanjeon and Kalabharati of Montreal - Canada; his service towards popularizing new ragas in the realm of Classical music is commendable. He has set music for the compositions of Ambujam Krishna, that was published with notation in a book titled ‘Geethamala’.
He has composed music for the thematic dance opera titled ‘Endru Thaniyum India Sudhandira Dhaagam’ for Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Madras. This was staged on August 15, 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of India’s independence.

Straight from the heart, anecdotal, total fun.. such a sense of humour that is very joyful to listen to .. no malice at all! Wow! normally while each EE is for an hour or so, i was dead sure from the start that the program cannot be confined to the usual time limit.. this is TNS unplugged!! An amazing artist, virtuoso, multifaceted and a true maestro who could play with swaras like no one else could.. loved every minute of this
TNS - how can one explain? He is so down to earth person that once in 1981 he visited our house for a sankirtan. He sang for hours. alas! we did not have tape recorders with us in those days. But mesmerising hours.
Sri. TN Seshagopalan Sir has a long and wide breadth of Musical journey and experience to Share with us.
He has had an amazing exposure with Vidwans from different spheres, instumentalists and vocalists.
Sudha Madam is an excellent interviewer, but didn’t get too much chance to ask her planned questions.

More than anything, I am amazed by the respect with which Sri TNS Sir refers to all his accompanying artistes. His humility is some thing all - not just artistes- should observe n adhere to.

I could stll remember TNS sir Thodi at our village Pattamdai during Rama Navami festival during my younger days.
Very happy to watch this. I recollect my memories of his brief time in my house in 2013. இன்னும் அவர் அவருடைய வீணை திறமையைப் பற்றி பேசல. In sports, we call extremely good players "players' players". Similarly, TNS is "singers' singer".
I want to see him again. Hope I get that luck soon.

DR Manjunath ace violonist recently had said that Sri TNS is an university by himself.Very much apt indeed.His remarkable memory narrating old anecdotes is incredible.Apart from the unique attributes he is endowed with his matru and guru bhakthi is astounding and is a lesson that is to be learnt by one and all and particularly the younger generation.His genius has been applauded even by his seniors and holds a pivotal place in carnatic music.The very fact that his name is Tirumalai Nambi he is having the Grace of Srisailapoorna Tirumalai Nambi the acharya for SriRamanujar and his maternal uncle .!

TNS sir's length and breadth of knowledge not only in music but several allied fields is very well known of course. Over and above all that expertise, his instant clever/intelligent humor, his amazing engaging style and flow in delivery, his sheer memory and recall-ability... just magnificent!!

1970 இல் பிரம்மஶ்ரீ பாகவத சாம்ராட் சேது மாதவ ராவ் அவர்களின் வசந்த உற்சவம் நிகழ்ச்சியில் அவர் பாடினார் ( ஹார்மோனியம் உடன்). அடுத்த நாள் கல்யாண உற்சவத்தில் பாடினார். அவரிடம் நான் " சார் என் பாட்டி உங்கள் பாட்டை கேட்க ஆசைப் படுகிறாள் என்றேன். உடனே அவர் சரி என்று சொல்லி அன்று இரவு 7.00 மணி அளவில் எங்கள் வீட்டுக்கு வந்து சுமார் ஒன்றே முக்கால் மணி நேரம் பாடினார். பாடிய பாடல்கள் இன்றும் நினைவில் உள்ளது. முக்கியமாக வரமு என்ற ராகத்தில் ஒரு மீரா பஜன், கபீர் தாஸ் பஜன் சுப பந்து வராளி, பத்மாவதி ரமண என்ற பூர்வி கல்யாணி, சுவாகதம் கிருஷ்ணா, மோஹனம். 9.00 மணிக்கு நான் வசந்த கேளிக்கை உற்சவதிற்கு போக வேண்டும் என்று விடை பெற்றார். A very simple soul. A legend in every sense. Subbudu sir called him the Pole Star of sampradaaya music. I am a very big fan of himself, hearing him from 1968 first in Pudukottai. Even now, my day will not be complete without hearing his music for about 45 minutes. I remember the compliments given by Sanjay.
I used to tell that he is the musician of millenium.

To describe as a genius is a small word, sairam Sudhaji for this classic conversation, as a teenagee, have heard him do a full veena katchery and also a 2 hour namasankeerthanam program at krishna gana sabha, his anushya Sri.Santhanagopalan is carrying forward the same style of music.
During 1971 we started a Sangeetha Sabha when I was working in Udyogamandal, near Ernakulam. Once we had a violin solo concert by the great Lalgudi Jayaraman sir with Srimathi Brahmanandam and Sivaraman sir. After the concert Sri Jayaraman sir told us ( the committee members ) that there was an young musician by name T. N. Seshagopalan who was singing brilliantly and we should arrange a concert of T. N. S and he ( Sri Lalgudi sir) would come and accompany T. N. S. on violin. I got reminded of this incident when T. N. S sir was mentioning M. L. V. Amma recommending Him.

I think the current generation of carnatic musicians have less ego and more tolerant. but musicians of yesteryears had ego because of the difficult times they have to face. They were brilliant but the prospect of music as a livelihood was challenging.
