She waited until you were away before passing. She spared you having to see her passing, as well as having to make the decision of how to end her life. Your account of your friendship with her is very moving.
One of our older cats probably did the same.He was seventeen. He never wanted to go out side in all those years. He just decided to go out one morning and snuck out when my husband left for work. He disappeared and we never saw him again. Even though he didn’t like the outside, we still tried to take him out in the Back yard with us from time to time. He always cried and stood at the door until we let him in. But the day he disappeared he ran away as fast as he could into the back yard. We obviously looked for him..

Hi Mike and OWL family. The rancher in the sky came for Number 2 in the darkness of the night. He quietly whispered " it's time for you to follow me, and leave this earthly plain. You have given everything you can, to this ranch that your tired weary body is telling you to go. So follow me beyond the sun, the stars, thunderclouds, the gray snowy skies of November. Lay down and let your spirit fly away with me" She left peacefully and fulfilled her bargain with your ranch. Rest in Peace Number 2.
You gave her a good life, Mike, and she paid you back by giving you good babies and her friendship. If anyone tells me animals don't love, I do not believe them. My condolences. Goodbye, #2.
I am so sorry Mike. She was a great asset to the ranch in many ways. She is now having the ultimate experience by grazing in all the fields she can enjoy and savor all the heavenly cake she can get from The Great Rancher in the Sky.
That was a hard video for you to make but you did a fine job of it. Retiring her ear tag was a nice touch. Well done. RIP #2. She was a great cow with a great personality
She served the farm and you Mike! As you can clearly see she enjoyed every minute of your company every chance she got! Her tag on the wall will forever remind you of her contributions!! She was a joy to watch….. THANK YOU AND ERIN, for sharing her with all of us! ❤
Thank you for sharing. It breaks my heart to see your friend go because she was so sweet and unique. May you find that joy again in another that Will share their life with you and your family. She was special and it was her time to Moooove on. God Bless.G
Oh Mike, I read your newsletter last night and cried my eyes out for your loss. I am sure she wanted it to be that way too. 11 calves is a great milestone for any cow. She was a beauty. I am so happy you have a heifer of hers. My heart is with you and your family. RIP #002 Hugging you tight from Iowa.
Mike, We don’t miss a video. We were two 75 year olds crying at the loss of #2. We were crying because we are faced with making that decision on one of our equine pets. We have had this donkey for 16 years. He is as gentle as they come. Follows our every step but then he guards our property from any animal that trespasses. He has three others in his herd. Two horses and his little brother. We will have to make this decision any day now unless he goes the way of #2. It breaks our heart to think of having to do it. We will ask our vet to assist because we can’t do it ourselves. Thank you for your tribute to this special bovine. Every once in a while, an animal stands out from the herd!! Right? God bless. Joe and Hilda South Texas.
I'm so glad #2 had a "win to win" outcome ( her way to go ). I see her as an individual rather than a cow in a herd, especially when she wants cake from you. She was so bright and showed a lot of emotion, thank you
I know that was a very hard video for you to make. Thank you for letting us see this side of farming as well. #2 will surely be missed by all❤ RIP sweet girl
What a moving tribute to #2, my condolences Mike! I started typing a long story about my experience with our first calf and decided to shorten it to this, "Thanks, I wish nothing but the best for everyone, bless all your family"!
What a wonderful tribute to No 2. Returning her to the earth is a beautiful thing to do. You two had a connection. It doesn’t get any better than that. Goodbye No 2. 😢

She will be missed 😢. Sorry for your loss , I grew up on a farm and it is hard to lose an animal that you get close to and from a special bond with. Her legacy carries on.
Your tribute to a faithful friend brought tears to my eyes. I've sat beside horses that have had to be put down at a rescue and some of my own pets, but this was somehow different. She was like a partner in your ranch venture. 😢❤
Dad of #2, Animals know, so often you hear folks say " dumb animals " but there not. She loved you n many others, and if you read the Rainbow Bridge Prayer, it says, Our animals will run to us, when it's our time to join them in😢 heaven. And it's also Great that you are keeping her legacy alive on the farm.
😢My heart goes out to you Mike. She was always a joy to see. I'm so glad her daughter is with you still. This loss will make her first calf all the more special when it comes. Who knows. Maybe it'll be the 2nd calf of that year. Rest well 2
My #2's name was Dancer. Originally named SOLC Miss V29. But she was my Dancer, my best friend. Born 1987. I still miss my best good girl. Losing her was a heartbreak I never got over. I am She Who Likes Cows More Than People. 🐮 Rest easy in your pastures, Number 2. We will keep you in our hearts, always. ❤
Thank you for sharing her with us. Its early here and i couldn't sleep and now i will always remember #2. Watching this will be ingrained in my brain so she will be remembered as a special cow by people all over the world. Im crying my eyes out now and my hubby is confused why im sad. She will always be a part of the ranch. You can tell she was loved.♥️😭🐮
Mike, what a beautiful tribute. I cried through the whole video. It's hard to lose a friend, whether that friend is human or a cow. She made it easier on you because you were her friend. Thank you for letting her give back now to the ranch. It's the right thing to do. My heart still aches for my long time cutting horse that we worked for years together and my old dog that was always at my side. I do understand and so appreciate this beautiful send off to an old friend.
You have my condolences on your loss. She had a great life. She will never be completely gone. You have pictures and videos, plus, she will forever be part of the farm fertilizing the grass her daughter and others will live on.
Thank you for sharing the sad part of life… saying goodbye to a good friend. I’m so glad she went on her own. Now you won’t have to worry about winter coming and her ole bones trying to weather through. May God Bless you all and a Cow named Number 2 ….. ❤️
😭💔Such a beautiful send off and video of beautiful days on the ranch. I'm crying...damn it, so glad she brought you love and so glad you loved her as you do with all your animals. My sincere condolences. Animals are a blessing.❤
Ohhh, what a very special girl #2 was! My favorite part of this important video was wen she put her head all the way into the gator with you! I got so teary-eyed over a cow passing away. But I get it - pets are like family and we love them. Retiring her #002 tag is very special. Your heart is hurting and we're feeling it, too. Thank you so much for sharing how very special she was.
RIP Number 2, u Were Good. She was Majestic to me. Always coming to u Mike and Staying Awhile. I am Comforted to know that she Will Always be a part of the Ranch. I get Emotional as well Mike, Keep Pushing!
I haven’t cried this much since you lost blonde cow. I wear my blonde cow hoodie every week. You can tell how much you will miss her just by how you talked about her in the present tense❤
As I read your newsletter about #2's passing, naturally I started crying and replied to it with an email giving you my condolences then. It's been a long time since I've worked with cows on a dairy farm and even back then it was hard on me when one of them either passed away naturally or had to be put down. Your tribute video to #2's life on the ranch was amazing and I knew that you'd make one Mike and you didn't disappoint me any. She is now with the Great Rancher and enjoying everything that her heart desires and she has contributed greatly to the ranch for many years and will continue doing so.
She waited until you were away before passing. She spared you having to see her passing, as well as having to make the decision of how to end her life. Your account of your friendship with her is very moving.
Ya my dog did the exact same thing she passed away in the night so I wouldn't have it so hard.
Thanx, now I don’t have to watch the video.

I’m so sorry. I know how difficult that can be. I’m glad she passed on her own and that you had a special moment with her before her passing. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Prayers to Blonde cow Bubbles snd beautiful number 2 thankyou for looking after Mike love to all of u
You have my condolences on your loss. She had a great life. She will never be completely gone. You have pictures and videos, plus, she will forever be part of the farm fertilizing the grass her daughter and others will live on.
Thank you for giving her the respect that she deserved, as a farmer it does break one's heart when it does happen.
Thank you for sharing the sad part of life… saying goodbye to a good friend. I’m so glad she went on her own. Now you won’t have to worry about winter coming and her ole bones trying to weather through. May God Bless you all and a Cow named Number 2 ….. ❤️
I am so sorry Mike of the passing of #2. She was beautiful.
You made me cry. We lost our boy Jasper Wednesday night. (Labrador) and that song broke me. 😢sending you hugs.
Awh 😢 #2. Rest easy ol girl. You were loved by many and missed by us all.
You are doing okay!
She is watching you and the farm!
God bless you and your family!
Sincerely!
R.S.V.
