Ryan seems like a Certified Nice guy. Texas boy here too, I spent about 30 yrs as a Highly Certified Automotive Tech (hated it) Got into machining several years ago (love it) I am now a CNC machinist in a aircraft manufacturer, very busy but loving it. Thanks to all the You Tube teachers to get me going originally with CNC Plasma table & manual machining. "Gas On It"

I have a ton of 12"×36" 18mm stained and clear coated baltic birch. And a 4x4 cnc. Is there something i can make quickly that would do well in local fb groups? Seems my posts clicks are hit and miss. Ive done some flags but market is flooded with them. Idk what people want lol and i get discouraged at times

Love your story btw makes me feel somewhat hopeful that some day I might be able to make something happen. I work with baltic at my 40hr so I can get it at cost and I get scraps for free! All 18mm exterior. I mainly do cornhole boards on the side but I'd like to do some smaller things

I definitely understand your frustration- influencers make it sound like “make it and they will buy” - which is total BS- or, give them credit for having the right thing at the right time- (usually unrepeatable) - I am starting to make things I like to make, something I might need (maybe even walk around ikea or Pottery barn) - then go to craft fairs and see what sells- influencers are full of “good advice “ - but that may work for them- not you, not your market- keep trying! Failure is only another lesson!

Stove top noodle boards. You will need to glue them up but they are in right now

    Hello Ryan,
Thanks so much for all your great information! I have been having some success on Etsy with a new product that I have been selling and it's only been a few weeks. My sales seem to really increase when I sell the item for $40.00(which I believe is too low) and then I raise the price to $45.00 and it slows down. My question is when your phone docks took off, how did you get a feel for your price point? Did you try to sell at the same price point as your competition or did you sell higher because you were offering a better-quality item, such as engraving instead of laser? My scenario is very similar where my competition is using lasers to customize and I'm using CNC engraving.
I would love any information that you could provide and thanks in advance for your time!
    Thanks,
    Dan.

The part when he was talking about sells not really happening and she interrupted was a bad mistake i was interested in what he was saying. The conversation after was useless

I did feel like they were not optimal in their questioning timing, hope they let me back on so I can address more issues in the future!
