As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha since 1984, I can say from personal experience that you do not know what you are talking about. You have not a clue. For one thing "altar" is misspelled, so you might want to "alter" (change) that in your comment. In addition, AKAs do not bow to an altar of anyone during induction into the sorority or at any other time. Our current national president, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, is a devout Christian who essentially "preaches" a message and glorifies God in EVERYTHING that she does from her leadership platform. I have earned my Ph.D. in history and am currently attending seminary (with a 4.0 over 48 hours towards my M.Div.). I also have my license as an evangelist and assist with navigating a daily prayer line twice a week, teaching Sunday school at my church, and teaching Old and New Testament classes on a volunteer basis. This is in addition to my full time job as a history professor. I am on a committee for spiritual oversight in my graduate chapter. One of my biological sisters who is an AKA is a licensed preacher and has served as chaplain for her graduate chapter. Another of my sisters who is an AKA does not have ministerial license but faithfully serves God. The point herein is that you don't have a point. You are simply spreading falsehoods on a subject about which you are clueless. Granted, my experiences may not be the same as everyone else's who is an AKA. As with any organization that has a membership of over 300,000, there is diversity, and not everyone is devout. For you to stereotypically (and even slanderously) claim, however, that AKAs blanketly require bowing at an "altar to Ethel" is, again, a deliberately deceitful dissemination of disinformation.
