- Here is a brief history about the waterpark that was there from 1985 to 2011.Wild Rivers is a water park in Irvine, California, United States. It opened in July 1986 [1] on the site of the former Lion Country Safari. Following the expiration of its lease with The Irvine Company, it closed on September 25, 2011.[2] Since the closure, there have been plans to recreate Wild Rivers in Irvine on or near the Orange County Great Park, which have been under development.[3][4] The developers secured full funding and commenced construction on July 1, 2021, confirming the park's reopening for Summer 2022.
I had a season pass for two summers when I was 8 and 9 years old. Absolutely loved it. Congo River Rapids and Bombay Blasters were the best rides.
awesome, thanks for sharing those nice memories
I loved wild rivers born and raised in Orange county and grew up with wild Rivers. So many good rides. So many great times. So sad to see it go every time I drive around those apartments and condos that are there now I have flashbacks and whenever I eat dippin' dots I have flashbacks to wild Rivers and being a kid
good times my friend

The liquidator slide is still one of the best water slides I’ve ever been on.

awesome
A Malcolm in the middle episode was filmed there the old location .
It's opening again yoooo
awesome
I went there almost every weekend in the summer as a kid lol. I’m so excited for it to come back.
Thanks for sharing that nice memory. Hopefully it will be similar to the original one.
Too bad the new park will cost an arm and a leg to go to. $65 for adults, $40 for kids, $20 parking and no food or drink allowed inside. When I was a kid with a $60 season pass, my mom would pack us lunch and drop us off there for the whole day. Granted, that was 1986 & 1987, but still, at least it was affordable.
next video do u remember
hardrock park/freestyle park?
Wild Rivers❤❤❤
They had amazing churros and a smoothie served in a pineapple
It’s been 11 years since, it was closed. But, they’re opening another location in Irvine this year.
I heard. But it won't be like the original though
I’m not sure if I am remembering this correctly but when the park was going to close, I distinctly remember going in the tallest slide open at the time in the park. However, it wasn’t actually the tallest slide.
There were three more that were closed off. The ladder/staircase leading to them had been fully removed. I remember asking someone why, and the guy said someone snapped their neck on the slide. I remember the slide was black and very jagged. It was not smooth nor straight. To this day, I don’t know if the guy was trying to scare a kid or not.
Probably to scare you
So many memories. Miss it
Great post! I’ve lived in OC all my life but this was one place I had never been to - very sad about the young girl who died there. There was another water park called Raging Waters (or something similar) in a different CA county many many years ago. Thanks again 👏🏻
Yes, there is a Raging Waters, Pharaoh Splash Kingdom (Redlands-defunct), The Cove in Jurupa Valley and Knotts Berry Farm has one and Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove.
My favorite ride was the Congo Rapid Rivers.
Nice

I never knew how to swim... so i never went,,, looks like a fun place...
I never went there. I would go to Raging Waters in San Dimas. You don't have know how to swim, the features are shallow and not like a pool.
Oh yes I remember going when I was like 8 or 9
