This is good, some more contex which i have been taught: So the triangle on the right side will always point to the ILS station that's how you know if you're flying towards or away depending on what you are doing. Another quick one is if you draw an imaginary line from the nose of the plane on the instrument to the top, and you align it with the top of the orange line you'll get there in a faster and controlled way and speed and then its just wait. Good job with the video
if you go comms then atc, the first carrier that pops up will be the one closest to you, other than that you need to physically see which number is written on a carrier to know which one it is :)
To a point, sure. You still want to have your velocity vector on the carrier, but this helps you ensure your approach angle is correct. Even if your velocity vector is on the carrier, you don’t want to be coming in too steep or shallow.
my issue with landing is how sensitive the joystick is cause of the light weight, i dont have an issue landing at all in DCS. but in this game its so incredibly hard lol, fine adjustments is so difficult
You can adjust the joystick sensitivity in the options page on the MFD when you’re in the jet. Reducing joystick sensitivity is so helpful in aerial refueling too.

Press o (the letter not the number) and it’ll bring up a menu on your computer screen where you can change the weather. You can also set the weather in the mission editor.
What does the radio frequency for the LSO do? I landed on the PTB while tuned to the correct ils frequency but have no idea what the LSO freq does, I was still getting landing directions and can't tell the difference
@@psutherla for the record I asked on the games PTB discord. This apparently ties in to the spectator slot for ATC. Right now it’s not needed to get landing directions as usual
It’s more of a suggestion lol I just land anyway. I have successfully landed on a carrier without being waved off, but it doesn’t happen often. You have to be perfectly lined up in every way.
Such a good addition to a masterpeice of a sim.
Definitely
I've never seen a VTOL VR carrier landing video where someone wasn't told to wave off. Never.
I've seen it in a video once. My jaw hit the floor. The video was "This is NOT an F-14 Tomcat" by Tuuvas and he starts landing around 10 minutes.
I did it once when making this video but unfortunately it didn’t make the final cut
It's possible! If you check the mission log in vtolvr you will see the reason why you were waved off. a few attempts adjusting and you can do it.
I just pulled it off at night first try, I was a bit high but no wave off. Although that’s certainly the result of many day attempts 😂
yeah i kinda thought that was a glitch or whatever that never got fixed, until like a week ago I started landing sometimes without getting waved off.
Big thing that will help to add is knee boards for frequencies and quick references
You can use OpenKneeboard for this but I 100% agree that it would be nicer to have an actual kneeboard add into the game.
@@darkstar1592?
@@darkstar1592what do you mean?
@@SJKJ_ OpenKneeboard is a software you can use to sort of simulate having a kneeboard in VR via a third party method. Very useful to have.
@@squidin9347 are you going to make a video on it?
Did my first ILS landing thanks to this, you rock!
Nice!
I legit can only land using ILS HELP

Great points, thanks!
Thanks dude! I landed perfectly on my 2nd attempt after bolter!
Nice work!
Awesome - what a great add to the game.
Awesome vid man
Don't know why I watched this video, I don't even play VTOL VR, but I guess if I ever will, then I know how to land in cloudy weather.. xd
It's great! perfect balence of aproachable for begineers and in depth to keep you invested.
You should 100% play it. Hands down the best VR game out there, and just a brilliant game in general!
can you use your autopilot for ILS
No
How to find out which carrier is wich?
if you go comms then atc, the first carrier that pops up will be the one closest to you, other than that you need to physically see which number is written on a carrier to know which one it is :)
Question just to be clear: putting your velocity vector on the carrier leads to exactly the same outcome, right?
To a point, sure. You still want to have your velocity vector on the carrier, but this helps you ensure your approach angle is correct. Even if your velocity vector is on the carrier, you don’t want to be coming in too steep or shallow.
thks i was always curios how to use it
does this line you up on glide slope when done together with the bracket also?
The horizontal line keeps you on the ideal glide slope

Why no flaps?
They’re not needed
Where did that numpad come from, isnt the autopilot stuff there?
It's in the new public testing version. Auto-pilot is now down to the cockpit's bottom right.
The autopilots are still there, but you use the buttons to set them instead.

How did you get the weather update?
Public testing
Hi.. i have install the beta. i have the same plane that you..but where are the clouds and bad weather. The sky is blue like old version.

You were very slow on your approach. Keep that E bracket lined up with your velocity vector. Your angle of attack should read 8 when you're one speed.
All true. Normally my landings look better but multitasking while talking and watching the camera had me distracted.

My assumption is that if you don't put it in your active comm, you won't hear the LSO

How do I get the new update? Is it the public testing one?
Yes
look cool
