  • In our eighth AME Podcast, we continue our quest to serve artistic excellence through a conversation with Aaron Noë, composer, musician, and educator. Aaron, who has produced compositions such as the well needed flex band arrangements under Aamano Music, looks at ensembles as a microcosm in society. In his band world, he sees such ensembles providing students with goal orientation, goal setting opportunities, along with positive responses in which can set lifelong experiences for students to contribute in society. Thus, Aaron questions the what and why we are teaching through music to make sure music teachers are providing the best experience possible. In a recent professional development program on goal setting for band directors, Aaron has created a vision to look at the steps needed to provide a successful band program along with delivering a focus on the personal goals of the band director. He believes we must recognize the meaningful and entertainment element of music making for the band as a whole while inspiring the community. As a teacher, Aaron finds the important of music making is about the musical connection of course for the musicians but also for the audience in which we should not lose the entertainment focus. Therefore, through goals and relationships, you can own success in music that will transfer to other lifelong connections when you provide meaningful music making experiences and influence success for others.
