THE STORIES ABOUT LARRY BIRD ARE PRICELESS . THESE LEGENDS OF THE GAME HAD SO MUCH RESPECT FOR HIM. i watched one video where one player said larry could only jump about two inches off the ground but he would out rebound all the time.

I've stated before, Larry Bird would be my first pick for an all time NBA team. He may not be a starter for said team, but he'd be one of the most valuable players to have available. He had certain skills and instincts beyond being able to jump or run fast. His shooting ability and coolness would be key in any clutch situation.

Pat Riley said if he wanted a player to take the last shot to win a game he'd pick Michael Jordan. If he needed a player to take the last shot to save his life he'd choose Larry Bird !

I looked that up at he has a good memory. 82-83 season and he indeed scored 53 points against the Pacers that game, the second highest scoring game of his career.

As I love Larry he still stood by watching MJ block Isaiah Thomas from the Olympics

    • @douglassummers9901

Isaiah was a bad boy and they played to hurt people… It worked for a few years because they won a couple…. But that kind of play is not what the NBA wanted the world to see ….

That's an old unverified rumor. The more credible rumor to me is that it was Magic that blocked him for the things Isiah said after he was diagnosed and retired the previous year. They've since patched things up.

With all due respect, you don’t know the whole story as Larry didn’t even want to be on the Dream Team due to his excruciating back pain, and only after both Michael Jordan and especially Magic Johnson persuaded him to join the squad he agreed to participate.
Besides, back in 1987 Larry saved Isiah Thomas’ career after he made the stupid confirmation of Rodman’s idiotic comment about “if Larry wasn’t white, he’d be just another guy” (not the true superstar that he really was then).
      Just saying.
