- Welcome back to the East Riding of Yorkshire. Today we come to a parish that is very much a rural community set in the heart of former Howdenshire and for its size it's certainly has a lot, complete with a number of hamlets as well including Portington and Caville.
In this parish you will find a 12th century church of which King George IV was the patron and you'll also find a railway station and a local nature reserve! This village was put on the map by Dennis Hanson who as a school boy was bed-bound for 2 years and started a stamp collecting business which resulted in an army of about 20 workers shipping sheets of stamps worldwide within just a few years!
This place used to have a board School which was replaced in 1964/65 with the current Primary School and itself that school replaced an old thatched building that was given to the village by Joseph Hewley.
There's plenty of history in this place and if you look in the red phone box you'll even find a book all about the village that's certainly something that I wish every village had! Call in for a pint at the Black Swan who can certainly offer you all sorts! They and cater for most functions too, and if fishing is your thing there are two places in this parish where you can rod up!
All in all there's plenty to learn about as we explore the parish of EASTRINGTON.

My Grandparents lived in Eastrington in the big white house on the main street. Grande was their name. My cousin also moved to Australia 🌏🦘. Not sure what year though?
