Bravo, David! Isn't Reger a blast to play! There's always so much more going on in the score than the audience can begin to guess. In the glacial and sepulchral first half, Reger literally *wallows* in his can-of-worms harmonies and ever-winding/twisting voice-leadings. A touch masochistic, but delightful fun! Even despite some quircky key resolutions, the Fugue is one if his greatest achievements. I still prefer his "Hallelujah! Gott zu Loben." (I've studied both, and the "Hallelujah" is a bit more satisfying for me personally. Can't say why.) Have you recorded "Hallelujah"? I'd love to hear your rendition. Thanks, again, for your masterly performance! 👍
All the frequent coupler changes and stop additions, not to mention manual jumps! Thinking ahead several measures (while actually playing) is definitely necessary as a performer of these great works. Gotta have a great noggin to play Reger!!
Perfect speed and articulation. But I cannot follow your registration. There needs to be a seamless crescendo throughout the fugue. So why are you taking away the heavy reeds from the pedal at 19:41? The pedal doesn't get through very well in the following and the sound is lacking in substance. Also, at 21:34, the left hand seems to join the right hand keyboard, instead of hte other way round. This leads to a volume reduction - but Reger is demanding "più fff" at that point.
Das Pedal-Gis am Ende: Die erneute Dur-Terz wie als Bestätigung dass am Ende alles gut ist! Herrlich!
Reger ist einfach das beste.
Du hast recht!!
Bravo! Love Max Reger!
Thanks, so do I! -David
Wow, fantastic. Incredible performance and now I need to do a deep dive on Reger, who clearly I have not appreciated nearly enough.
Thank you! Best of luck on your journey with Reger's music. -David
Congratulations, in my opinion your version was the best of Regers Wachet auf I have ever heard!

An absolutely brilliant and sensitive performance of my favorite work of Reger's, and your choice of registration is impeccable. Bravissimo!

Can you please name the bars which you consider to have quirky key resolutions? I would be very interested, thanks!

Eigentlich lässt das Stück auch für die Drehorgel um arbeiten. Das wäre eine gigantische Herausforderung. Aber es ist machbar und klingt ganz gut.🤔
ppppppppppppppppp, one second later, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
