I'd be curious to see the processing on these images. Did you underexpose just a bit, to make sure the curtains didn't get blown out? Seems like that would be a serious risk, with all the light coming from that window. Beautiful photos.
Hi Geoff, We touch in this more in the article, but keeping your subjects in the same plane allows you to stay at a low F Stop. If anything, have them line up their toes in one line so that way they can simply be aware of their plane. Hope that helps!
What kind of portable lighting did you use? and how did you connect your camera to the lighting thing you used? absolutely love how your pictures turned out.
Hi Krushna! Thanks for the suggestion. We do dial in manual exposures in camera, however they are almost always adjusted later in post (with the RAW file).
i really like your videos tutorials ............. teach very well perfect ....... i lots of learn by your tutorials ...... i want to join your FB group
There is no way you can get a group of 3 all sharp even if the planes are close. One of the subjects is not going to be in the same eye plane. For me even when using the best lenses I never shoot that open unless I have to due to the light.
Hey Pye. I own a Nikon d5300 and I'm planning on switching to Sony. But it'll take some time for me to get the money ready. I'm not able to use kelvin in my camera coz it's not available. It has a color grid for white balance and i'm just not able to figureit out. Help me?
We take a couple of minutes to clean the room and also advise the bride to keep the room as neat as possible prior to our arrival. This makes for much cleaner shots overall and less hassle in post trying to clone things out!
I hate to even question your posing..because you are the man! But in the hotel bedroom shoot wouldn't make more sense to have the bride facing the window sense shes the subject. Better lighting on her face vs the other girl?
Can we still call this as a "candid photography"? I get the idea of bringing the natural or candid factor out of this "well planned play". In fact the results doesn't look candid at all. The pictures from this session tells and can be seen quite obviously that they were directed, and the family will think the same when they look back to these pictures in the future, because they remember what the photographer told or directed to them what to do to get this kind of "fake candids".
A candid photograph is a photograph captured without creating a posed appearance, by avoiding prior preparation of the subject. Your heading is misleading.
Thisbis weird again no use in calling this candid cause its scripted again... I would click pics unnoticed and show it as a surprise.. I dony think this id the right way to shoot candid photos... sorry dude
So, you scrap the realness in Candids altogether, make the subjects pose and call the pictures Candid Pictures and yourself a Candid Photographer... did I get that right? Oh, yes, use that name and charge people tenfold more because you're better than the studio photographers.
Posed candids are the best. Getting them to relax and act natural is a learned skill. Superb demonstration.
Beau Maisel......these are not true candid photos....sorry.
Great shoot :) The casual interaction brought out some excellent results!

How do you get the images with more then one person so sharp with such a low f stop?

Thanks,,
Yes it helps, leads me to another question and maybe I'm new to this page but what articles are you referring too, so that I can view them?
+SLR Lounge | Photography Tutorials which person would you focus on?
+eph elle great thanks
Any info on the Kit?
Is a light or reflector being used opposite of the window? Or is the bed reflecting the light?

Hi Pye!, just wondering, the scene in the hotel room, were the shots filled with OCF? or reflectors? just post production enhance? Thanks alot!
Hello Bro.
When you are maintioning ISO , Shutter Speed & Aperture . Kindly give the WB data also.
Hi Krushna! Thanks for the suggestion. We do dial in manual exposures in camera, however they are almost always adjusted later in post (with the RAW file).
And also all sliders values used in LR. Lmfao
Which lens and camera being used?
i really like your videos tutorials ............. teach very well perfect ....... i lots of learn by your tutorials ...... i want to join your FB group

Which lenses you are using for these shots....?
tnks 😊
plz tell me which lens is this
how do you maintain all subjects in focus with f1.4?
There is no way you can get a group of 3 all sharp even if the planes are close. One of the subjects is not going to be in the same eye plane. For me even when using the best lenses I never shoot that open unless I have to due to the light.
Which lenses do you use for portraits and wedding photographies?
Check out this free video from our "Photographing the Couple" workshop: www.slrlounge.com/workshop/favorite-lenses-used-for-10000-couples-portraits/
Maybe I guess because of the Sigma ART it's Bloody sharp at f/1.4 even shooting 3 peoples at a same time!!
Seriously guys this is not candid photography plz don't get me wrong.. its a well scripted with good combo shooting. ..bravo
Looked so dark in there, how'd it get so bright?
Does pics are Natural or It is editing?
We use our preset system for editing www.slrlounge.com/store-product/lightroom-preset/
Whan lenses u r using? And which body?
Hi Shomit,
We are using a Canon 5D Mark III with Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4.
Hey Pye. I own a Nikon d5300 and I'm planning on switching to Sony. But it'll take some time for me to get the money ready. I'm not able to use kelvin in my camera coz it's not available. It has a color grid for white balance and i'm just not able to figureit out. Help me?
Shankar Raj Shoot on raw, so you can set your WB in post production.
I don't even take the risk of shooting brides in 2.8 and you shoot 3 person at 1.4?!
I was just thinking the same thing! 😳 and wondering if his second shooter shoots at a different aperture for that very reason.
I too have the same question!
The sigma 35mm 1.4 would be fine the way they were set up.
Then shutter speed was 1/4000 so why not its possible bro
may i ask why ? why not 2.8 ?
wait what? How is that room so clean? Our bridal suites are always a disaster!
We take a couple of minutes to clean the room and also advise the bride to keep the room as neat as possible prior to our arrival. This makes for much cleaner shots overall and less hassle in post trying to clone things out!
The lamp shade growing out of the head wasnt a very good backdrop
Big Fat Indian Wedding...
Hang on….. this is anything but unscripted!
