    Posed candids are the best. Getting them to relax and act natural is a learned skill. Superb demonstration.

    I'd be curious to see the processing on these images. Did you underexpose just a bit, to make sure the curtains didn't get blown out? Seems like that would be a serious risk, with all the light coming from that window. Beautiful photos.

    How do you get the images with more then one person so sharp with such a low f stop?

    • @slrlounge
      @slrlounge  8 років тому +16

      Hi Geoff,
      We touch in this more in the article, but keeping your subjects in the same plane allows you to stay at a low F Stop. If anything, have them line up their toes in one line so that way they can simply be aware of their plane. Hope that helps!

  • @dphotos007
    @dphotos007 8 років тому +1

    There is no way you can get a group of 3 all sharp even if the planes are close. One of the subjects is not going to be in the same eye plane. For me even when using the best lenses I never shoot that open unless I have to due to the light.

    wait what? How is that room so clean? Our bridal suites are always a disaster!

    • @slrlounge
      @slrlounge  8 років тому

      We take a couple of minutes to clean the room and also advise the bride to keep the room as neat as possible prior to our arrival. This makes for much cleaner shots overall and less hassle in post trying to clone things out!

    I hate to even question your posing..because you are the man! But in the hotel bedroom shoot wouldn't make more sense to have the bride facing the window sense shes the subject. Better lighting on her face vs the other girl?

  • @tkerrk

    Can we still call this as a "candid photography"? I get the idea of bringing the natural or candid factor out of this "well planned play". In fact the results doesn't look candid at all. The pictures from this session tells and can be seen quite obviously that they were directed, and the family will think the same when they look back to these pictures in the future, because they remember what the photographer told or directed to them what to do to get this kind of "fake candids".

  • @davidbrown_au
    @davidbrown_au 5 років тому +1

    A candid photograph is a photograph captured without creating a posed appearance, by avoiding prior preparation of the subject. Your heading is misleading.

  • @Neha165616Zouis
    @Neha165616Zouis 8 років тому

    So, you scrap the realness in Candids altogether, make the subjects pose and call the pictures Candid Pictures and yourself a Candid Photographer... did I get that right? Oh, yes, use that name and charge people tenfold more because you're better than the studio photographers.
