  • Noticed your window action slowing down, getting stuck or sound crunchy / grinding😫. As our TT's get finer with age (like a fine wine) the windows may end up acting a little funny. A common issue that seems to arise are the windows move really slow or you can hear a crunching sound. As the issue becomes worse the window may end up getting stuck in a lowered position potentially leaving you in a bit of a pickle.
    You're able to replace the whole regulator mechanism itself with a second hand unit or pay a few hundred bucks for a new replacment unit. Another option - which is the most cost efficient - is to dissassemble the window regulator and replace the cable.
    The repair seemed tricky to me so i put it off for ages but when i got into it it really wasn't that bad. The trickiest part was winding the cable onto the central sprocket piece properly. It took me a good 20 minutes to figure out how to do that. Luckily you can just see how the old part blows up after being so super broken and how to repair it with the window regulator cable repair kit.
    This can definitley be done in half a day so if your window is starting to move slowly or you're hearing a grinding or crunching sound then get a regulator repair kit ASAP and get it fixed up before you get stuck with a window that doesn't close.

    Thank you..but a little grease or gearbox oil should have been put on all the moving parts to work more efficiently and extend their life.

    Hi Ian, I recently discovered that my OEM front and rear Parking Sensors no longer work (don't ask me how I found out). I bel the warning sound was broadcast from the original Navi headunit. Do you know if I can get them to work again now that I'm using a top line Pioneer navigation (I retained the Bose speakers and amp)? Thank you for your continuing Audi insights.

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga  Рік тому

      Hi Drew. Sounds like a fuse has gone. The sound isn't dependant on the Head Unit as I'm running an aftermarket Alp me and I still get the bleeping. The beep comes from a little speaker. The front one is mounted behind the instrument cluster. The rear one is mounted in the rear right door trim above the speaker.
      Might wanna check those after the fuses ☺️

    Hi, great video, very helpful. I just replaced one myself last week but had to redo it. I think it was too tight. I was looking at your video and saw the white plastic part that holds tension on the spring has a clip on it. Did you release the clip to free the spring? I think this was my problem. Wasn't sure if the clip was just to keep the spring compressed for installation or should it be left clipped. I released it and the regulator seemed smoother. I couldn't see from the video if you released it or not.

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga  Рік тому

      You can see around 12:20 the assembly of the central bit. I don't remember releasing the clip at all on the replacement piece. Just left it as it should be as that's how it was on the broken one.

    • @nashtuck
      @nashtuck Рік тому

      If you look at around the 7:02 mark, it looks like that clip isn't on the old piece.
      Anyway, a week after my passenger side one broke, the drivers side also went 🙄. I'm going to see what that one looks like when I open the door up. At least I'm getting plenty of practice
