They didn't vote for the government, it was Mayor's election.
This was a local election, not a presidential election, but Erdoğan's party became the 2nd party for the first time in 22 years.
One that wont become like the govt of Iran, the direction Erdogans trying to force the country to become more similar to. Now if they can get Erdogan & more like him out of their govt hopefully they wont continue to regress backwards towards the 7th century & forcing theocratical fascism upon the population (the direction Erdogans trying to take the country)

In Turkey, regardless of affiliation to political parties or personalities, everyone agrees on some issues. If you mean things like Azerbaijan-Armenia issues, Turkey's attitude will not change too no matter who the person is. It should also be noted that there has been no change in power. President is still same. The ruling party fell to the second party position and lost almost all of the important municipalities. This will create a serious balance in Turkey's domestic politics. I don't think this will be about foreign policy. If we objectively evaluate the reasons for today's bad relationships, we can say that it is really difficult to find common ground. Because someone has to make concessions and both sides are determined not to make concessions. I hope one day we can stop dwelling on the past and walk towards the future.
