Fookin love Jim, was at the Leicester Square theatre interview and he’s naturally funny, brilliant and a little spikey, which makes for uncomfortable interviews every time. Always wonderful rhlstp, thanks, Rich, now get on board with Corbyn before it’s too late xx
When I think Canterbury, I think Soft Machine, Matching Mole, Caravan, Egg, Khan, Hatfield and the North, Hillage, etc etc. I happen to know that Vic is also a huge fan of the genre.
Ok so he's had a couple, but we all know Jim is a legendarily shy fella.....And the work speaks for itself imo I'd LOVE to see Bob back on this, he's always a charming fella to listen to :D - Not as lashed or as hilarious as the Simon Munnery episode, but who else could be? ....Si fkn NAILS IT! 😹_👍 ua-cam.com/video/uPeEtVFCNVk/v-deo.html
Sorry, Richard, you've got your Augustines mixed up there- it was Augustine of Hippo, 4th/5th Century North African theologian, who had the line about chastity, not Augustine of Canterbury, 6th/7th Century Italian (probably) missionary. Two different blokes. I mean, I couldn't concentrate after that, just sat there silently grinding my teeth. I've even put my clothes back on now.
I thought it was good but he's much funnier when sober, so it could have been fantastic. Even for something like a comedy podcast it's unprofessional to turn up drunk.
Man I'd love to meet Jim. I've loved him and Bob for so many years. I just love the DADA type humour... just once I'd like to meet, pint, pie, hug, tell him how much hes made me laugh and added to my life. I dont suppose that's going to happen... lol
I listened to the audio version first and I must be getting old as I was worried there was something wrong with him. Relieved to see him walk on with a large glass of red so the slurring seems like nothing more sinister than just being drunk. :-)
I think this is a really good attempt by Herring to keep the show going. Seemed very challenging, but being able to switch into just rolling with the punches is pretty good. I enjoy Vic Reeves but he should have tapped out a glass or two earlier.
Chris Hand Jim is a shy guy in reality. Probably requires a few shots before doing interviews. Probably why he doesn’t do to many interviews. A few become many very quickly. We’ve all been there..minus the interview
And we all had to pause to find Jim in the Shakin Stevens video before we carried on watching. Am I right? I'm right aren't I? I know I did. I love a bit of Shakey x
Oo-err missus. - Finbar Saunders and his double entendres. I recall when Viz started. Those first issues were like gold around school. If you got them at release you were considered a hero of sorts. Someone on this episode has been drinking a little too much. Clue: It isn't Rich.
Just said elsewhere that I remember when it started and the issues were like gold around school. I think Finbar Saunders was my favourite but I can't remember too many of them from back then.
I assume those who own shares in smelling salts did very well of this episode. Seemingly half the people in the comments section fainted from shock and disappointment
Been reading Viz here in Australia for 30 years or so. Was a big Pathetic Sharks Fan... Biffa Bacon... Fat Slags... Roger Mellie... all glorious fun. Does the 1 Quid deal apply to us too? I'll pay postage of course.
@Gary Anderton Nah, we're pretty much bred on UK comedy. Well, my generation is anyway... Dunno about the Millennials. Let's just say I know Gary Sparrow... I listened to The Goons on the radio since I was a young un. Some of the local references go over heads. The humour hits the mark. I know very little about the Premier League but I'm nuts about Athletico Mince!
The only time I've seen him interviewed was on youtube walking around his old haunts in Londons west end reminiscing about his time as Dennis Pennis. Funny as, still, seems to shy away from that side. Would be great though.
37:14 Did Rich say "cocking a snoop"? And he's the sober one on stage. This was close. I would have found it hard not to say something about it, even offering some water. Rich showed great restraint.
Was hoping he'd sober up as it went..but no.. But still prefer this to one of the RHLSTPs where the interviewees turn their chair and face the audience.
I remember going to the Kard Bar in Newcastle to get Viz. Happy days. The place burned down a few years ago and killed the old bloke who owned the place. I’ve loved Viz for decades and it never fails to make me laugh out loud.
I'm such a big fan of Jim/Vic and to have him pissed out of his head for both appearances is so disappointing. He's just like the awkward drunk in the pub you have to awkwardly laugh along with.
I don't ever comment in these shitty comment feeds but this was brilliant. Watched alot of these now and was really engrossed in what both herring and moir had to say pure class.
i used to laugh out loud at ‘Young Stan Son of Man’ .... especially when he moved in a ‘mysterious way’ 😂😂 not a regular in the comic but classic VIZ irreverence....
@Gary Anderton yes i hope so i thought the episodes were on You Tube 1 week after but it seems there is a big back log RHLSTP came to Liverpool in October
In an instant all of the crap that i was watching on telly was being taken the piss out of a thousand time better more caustically than anything that either couldnt be allowed or they just werent up to it.. if anyone remembers it was "borderline boilers" and BOBFOC . "Anyone else notice Prince Anne goes in to hospital and Queen Mum comes out with a new hip, im comnvinced theyre using her for spare parts.. " my.pib didnt know what hit em!
So what if he is a bit drunk, he's on holiday! People should be allowed to enjoy themselves - he's still fascinating and is doing this for free and you're watching for free!

Vic is pleasantly relaxed. Probs been drinking through Shaun's RHLSTP (rhlstp) set.
When I think Canterbury, I think Soft Machine, Matching Mole, Caravan, Egg, Khan, Hatfield and the North, Hillage, etc etc. I happen to know that Vic is also a huge fan of the genre.
I tried drinking 6 pints and then re-watching; seems fine then.
Ok so he's had a couple, but we all know Jim is a legendarily shy fella.....And the work speaks for itself imo

What a unique RHLSTP - it's like Vic & Bob meets Lee & Herring, only without the boblee bits!
Very underrated comment
Sweeeeeeet! Nice one, Rich. And sponsored by Viz too. Ballistic! Am I led to believe that wasn't Jim's first glass of plonk for the evening. Haha!
Every time I hear 'Marty Pellow' I think of Limmy.
I actually didn’t notice Jim was tipsy till I read the comments. I like Jim. He’s simple yet complex.
Not many people know Jim has a brass hand.
"Hand."
@@kenlieck7756 Did you just say "hand"?
@@Boylieboyle Yes I did.

Haven't clicked on a RHLSTP so fast since Stewart Lee. But Alas, Mr. Algorithm has me a day late.

Getting sponsored by VIZ is actually pretty epic !
Viz. RHLSTP. Vic Reeves.
This is like a comedy utopia.
Keep your socks on, he's on holiday! :D
Brilliant btw, cheers.
I listened to the audio version first and I must be getting old as I was worried there was something wrong with him.

That tart will be draining him
I think this is a really good attempt by Herring to keep the show going. Seemed very challenging, but being able to switch into just rolling with the punches is pretty good. I enjoy Vic Reeves but he should have tapped out a glass or two earlier.
I see that Rich has murdered Clive James just to make himself look prescient in this podcast, very cleverly done Mr. Herring
Love Jim, but so disappointed that he turned up so pissed.
Hey at least it's not the now semi-legendary never-released interview with that guy from the Kaiser Chiefs.
Chris Hand Jim is a shy guy in reality. Probably requires a few shots before doing interviews. Probably why he doesn’t do to many interviews. A few become many very quickly. We’ve all been there..minus the interview
didnt bother me, but then I am also pissed.
"Hand."
you can always change the playback speed to 1.25
Rich, this was your best performance of 'pointless' to date.
Brilliant, he's smashed. We've all been there.
I think it was Augustine of Hippo who said that about chastity.
*checks*
Yes, it was.
Hammered! I keep expecting him to say "I wanna tell ya a ssshhtory" - no disappointment - still entertaining
Nice that he did the whole thing in the Chris Bell character. Still funny, though.
And we all had to pause to find Jim in the Shakin Stevens video before we carried on watching. Am I right? I'm right aren't I? I know I did. I love a bit of Shakey x
I'm so glad Richard asked about Shakey! Thank yooouuu.
Just paused this and looked at the Top of Pops video and he indeed looked in the washing machines. It reminds you how chaotic and karaoke-esque it was
Good plug for viz, big fan since it started, guess you'll not be paying for it ever again....lol
Actually thinking of subscribing myself
Jim is obviously a bit too used to professional interviews if he expects Rich to be playing clips in his show 🤣
?
Vic is a comedy legend.
Malcolm was a legend. BOLLOCKS! Very much missed.
Get Mortimer back (I say without even watching this one, but remembering the last one with no affection).

Ah vic.
Never change.
Never fails.
This is exactly what my brother sounds like when he’s had a few. His Brunmy accent comes out and meanders through storytelling.
It's Kerry Katona on This Morning all over again.
Nice jumper, Rich.
I bet the BBC, Grauniad and Independent just LOVE Viz ...
