Mint. Kayak spearfishing is awesome. Make sure you have everything clipped on! Best part use your kayak as your float. I used to use a floatline with a shark clip and would clip off the yak to reef and use the reel gun when working a spot. Never needed an anchor. Also doesn't disturb the fish!!! Go get em
How good is the boat looking! Great to see you pumping up the spearfishing club, the clubs are just such good places for people to get involved, usually a couple of nice crew involved, salt of the earth 😉. Always look forward to seeing a bloke going out on a shark biscuit, you could at least take some condiments with you 🤣🤣. Loved the Blue Bone footage, sweet fish crew. Well Done! Cheers for sharing the update, jealous as hell! Dive safe, have fun! 🤿🐟👍👌🍻
Hey mate, it was an awesome day out. I need to drag the kayak out for another coastal day! As for the GoPro/headstrap. Depending on your arrangement having the GoPro strap under the hood may mean that your mask is over top of everything.I have personally had my go pro get bump and pulled off looking in caves etc, if it was under my mask strap that would have meant a mask full of water in a cave! I’ve been wearing my GoPro/DJI over my hood for the past 6 years without issue. I’ve been doing a little trick I learnt from Dan Mann and I explain it in this vid at the 14:30 mark. I hope it helps you out mate 🍻 ua-cam.com/video/9rkEGxAwE9g/v-deo.htmlsi=wFgJkmyHs39fNEmJ
The idea of kayak diving has always tickled my fancy, but dragging a wet kayak up a beach when your stuffed has always detered me 😂 Boat is looking sexy! Hanging for that thing to hit the water
The kayak wasn’t so bad to transport hey. Ben’s had wheels, so he wheeled his with one hand and carried the other end of mine with the other. I definitely got the better end of the deal haha.
The boat is looking great, I watched them all a lot of hard work. I was thinking of getting a kayak, had a go on one in the lakes recently and was good fun. Good luck at Cloughy!!
Waters like mud down here in Yeppoon atm, windy as how is the weather looking for the spear comp wouldn’t mind seeing if I can get a mate or two keen for a run
How are you shore diving? Your not that much further south than Townsville. Your not worried about crocs? I shore dive here but only a very few select spots
We are pretty lucky here mate. I think we are right on the edge of having to be more concerned about it haha. There is some big resident crocs in some of the larger creek systems. They don’t tend to spend much time out of the systems. We normally get one or two sightings a year of a Croc out and about on the coast, it normally heads into our main harbour for a look and back out again. I’ve got a vague memory of it hanging around our local surf spot last year and I’m pretty sure they shot it…
Hey mate, I didn’t get an itemised break down. But I was quoted $6-700 for the canopy, seat frames, duckboards and a couple smaller brackets. If they had to do any additional sanding etc it was going to bump the price up.
There isn’t anything planned for the immediate future mate. If your a Mackay local, get onto Mackay Downunder Spearfishing Club. There is plenty of experienced spearos willing to take people out with all levels of experience.
It would only be 10foot mate, I think it’s a Dragon ‘Pro Fisher’. My mates Hobie was a way better set up. I recon I had to much stuff on mine, just the basic gear and use it as a float/home base on a shore dive would be perfect. I need to get it out again!
@ just got into spearfishing and I have a wilderness system tarpon 10ft , was thinking of changing it for a 12ft but think the 10ft will be ok now after watching you , thanks for taking the time to reply mate much appreciated 👍

Hey mate, could 100% use it as a big float. It’s great as a ‘home base’ as well on a shore dive. Thanks for the tips 🍻
Cant wait to see maiden trip in the boat
It will be very soon!

Thanks for always checking the vids out mate. The club up here is growing and growing, it’s great to see!
boat is looking a million bucks mate! more awesome diving footage too, keep looking forward to your videos 🤙
Thanks mate, plenty more adventures to come!
Such a fantastic video!! So sick to see you on a kayak like Ollie!
I’ll definitely be giving it another crack, it’s a great shore dive option as a bit of a home base on the water as well.
Another great video mate. Really enjoy this stuff. Goes to show you don't need a big boat to score a good feed, just some skill 😂
Skill and a bit of luck. Took a bit of looking around before we landed the first fish haha. Thanks for checking the vids out mate.
EPIC dive! 04:50 maybe good to have your hood over the go pro headstrap.... i personally learned a lesson from it.

Kayak is definitely a coastal option in Mackay here mate!
Getting close now mate all coming together 👌
Yeah mate, very close now! I’m so keen haha

Yeah, it’s not much better up this way mate. Looks like it calms a bit next week. Hopefully it keeps coming down for the Cloughy!
❤

hey mate another great vid i was wondering how to clean my haines gunnel rubber because its turned yellow from the sea hwo did you do it
Hey mate, I haven’t actually put it on yet. I’ve got a roll of new rubber there to put on next week.
Hey mate would you mind sharing the cost of having your canopy powder coated? Looking to do the same. Cheers

Nice spearing mate. Do many people fish that close in stuff for the blueys?
A few people do mate. Want to be on your a-game with some of the bigger models around any structure though.
hey mate did you get a new hard top on the tinny?
Nah Lonnie, that was the canopy from the haines. I just sat it up on the tinny so it was up off the ground haha.
You using her for cloughy?
Fingers crossed mate 👌🏻
Great video.
Are you still looking at teaching spearfishing? My 16 year old boy is keen, has gear
