Thanks Diane! That was a great video, I learned a lot. I agree with your assessment - worth paying a bit more, especially on a long flight. Definately could not afford paying full price though, and probably wouldn't even if I could.
I totally agree! I feel like being able to bid a little bit more was good because Airport food is so expensive anyway. But it’s definitely not worth hundreds or thousands extra.
Worth considering buying economy and then upgrade using frequent flyer points.
ED must be working overtime with all of the content you filmed. Please let her know I think she’s the real MVP…even though she’ll roll her eyes and be like “ugghhh, him again?!”
I told her! She actually just stared back blankly
“Here’s me eating it. Yum yum yum” 😊 You always make me smile!
I've only ever flown fancy class once, cause I wasn't paying for the ticket. It was so different from flying cattle class, and I was such a rube. They brought me a mimosa as soon as I sat down. I'd never even heard of a mimosa let alone drank one. The plane hadn't even pushed back. Being in what was really a fancy recliner for the trip was definitely very nice. I relaxed as I flew to and from Chicago to Amsterdam. How that for a synergetic tie in. The brought those fancy kits that I'd never use, and a free fancy Danish model house full of gin that I didn't understand was free. Well, I'm sure the fare covered the houses, but I didn't have to pay, so bonus. The flight attendants must have wondered how this dope ended up business class. I will say that not having a sore back from being folded in an uncomfortable economy seat for hours was so nice. Diane looks right at home in the lap of luxury. Twas pure class she was, is.
Haven't been able to fly fancy since that one round trip. I've found most of the Asian airlines much nicer than the North American, and European airlines. The Canadian Airlines want an extra $50.00 for anything. Would you rather fly inside the plane or stay strapped to the wing? Want a seat? That's a $100.00 dollars for those extras on each leg of the flight.
Enjoyed watching a pro navigate the trans Atlantic. Fun start to your trip. Thanks Diane.

Laurence from Lost in the Pond recommended subscribing to your channel. So glad I did. Thank you Diane.
Wow what a crossover.
Welcome aboard!
Lost in the Pond!? I can't wait to see everything
I've actually been in Malaga Airport. I took a bus up from Gibraltar, and then hopped a puddle-jumper flight up to Barcelona.
Great video may be the only time I ever see business class. But when I retire, I could use your tip about looking for deals and enjoying a trip to a random destination.
Can’t wait to see more Chi-town stuff Diane!! ❤
Thanks Ken! I feel a bit better having done this one. There’s so so so much footage.
I agree. The best thing about first or business class is being able to lay down and get some sleep.
I'm always amazed that anyone can sleep in economy .
😅 so please to hear you say that you spend time with Lawrence from lost in the pond. I’m looking forward to seeing that video. I had recommended you connect with him on our last Patreon hang out. Thanks.
Coming soon!
Diane, I have an Irish joke for you. A new species of worm was found. But there was only one. They couldn’t find anymore. So since they only had one, scientists called it a rarery because it was so rare. They noticed that every time they fed it, it doubled in size. Soon it became as big as a football pitch. So scientists decided to push this creature into a deep canyon so it wouldn’t cause any damage. They bring the creature to the edge of the canyon and start to push it over and tip it into the deep canyon. And let me tell you, it’s a long way to tip a rarey!
Groan, this makes dad jokes sound funny 😎
@@thomasmurray3920 do you know the song Tom?
•Groan• 😒
I also got to lie down and nap on my flight from Iceland to Oklahoma, on the floor with a rolled up coat , it was a free space available flight on an awacs, radar aircraft, nice benefits in business class but in Chicago thats just them being really cheap, if someone likes to drink it could cause problems in that one airport, like missing your flight , the food was also impressive for an airport, new york
I was in the USAF and found it easier time wise to fly to Europe than back home. Flying to Europe is easy - you take off in the morning and land in the evening - no big deal. Flying from Europe to the States is another story. You leave in the morning, fly all day, and land AND IT'S STILL MORNING!! I stayed up, but I was dead tired.
I suppose maybe it depends on your perspective
Diane your videos always make me smile. Thank you!
What a shocker - Diane appreciated the fancy chocolates more than the food 😮
Saturday bonus video is a good thing. It is not the rotation of the earth that makes the return trip longer it is the wind and the tiredness from the trip itself
I see! It definitely is worse on the way back you’re right
Bonus? I thought this was a sub for what would have been Friday's
For a year or so after 9/11 when I was doing trans-Atlantic flights every month I usually got bumped up to 1st or business class on every airline. The airlines were very keen on having a certain type of person of the male persuasion sitting near the cockpit. So that was either 1st class or business. I got about 10 flights upgraded from economy plus use of the airport VIP lounges of the airline.
Oh wow! That’s super cool, and also quite the compliment to you😊
@@DianeJenningsGoing LAX to CDG or Heathrow it saved my back for sure. :)
I am so glad to be tuned into your channel again. I lost it for some reason. I love your content and I hope your dog is doing better.
Business class flying is like traveling in a large cars verses economy in a small car. Some say driving in a large car is like sitting on a couch driving down the road.
I’m pretty tall - 6’7” (200cm) - and the last time I flew in coach (economy), my knees were jammed into the metal hinges of the tray table, which I couldn’t lower (no bulkhead seats available). It was incredibly painful, even for a 2-hour flight. The last time I flew, I was able to upgrade to first class for only $100, so I took it. To have adequate leg room is, in itself - something I’m willing to pay hundreds of dollars for. But I don’t have enough money to pay thousands extra.
Diane thank you. Love you from the start! #IrishGirl 🇮🇪 💗🤍
The tornado shelter sign is perhaps a bit odd to strangers, but that is definitely a thing in the Midwest, USA. It's called Tornado Alley for a reason, and is (I believe) the single hottest spot in the world for tornados. Just about everywhere from San Antonio to North Dakota to Toronto (and everything in between, including Chicago) is vulnerable to tornados in summer. Chicagoland in particular has had a relatively calm couple of decades on the tornado front, but plenty of other places like Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee etc have had a lot of tornados in the last couple decades. I believe that on the order of a few dozen people are killed every year by twisters? I'm not sure one has ever struck O'Hare but that's why that sign was there. (Another thing that's odd about the midwest is the monthly test of tornado sirens. Those weird out exchange students the first time they hear that lol)
19:13 oh ED😍 you have a way with words
Always nice to see a pretty face and hear a soothing voice.
Hope your trip was amazing
I guess we’ll find out in all your videos, but I hope your trip to Chicago met or exceeded your expectations and all the recommendations you received lived up to the hype
It absolutely exceeded them! Definitely one of my new favorite cities
The automated toliet did look like something out of a science fiction movie.
That's good You got some girl scout cookie biscuits. those are always good.
The key to getting any upgrade: have Editor Diane say that if she doesn't get one, there will be a problem.
In the airport, it pays to either be loud or very upset. Do not go quietly in an airport!
Diane, I really, really like to travel in Business/First when going FROM North America to Europe because its an overnight flight. However, traveling TO North America from Europe is usually in the daytime and Economy (or Economy Comfort/whatever) is OK. Arranging your ticket that way usually saves a lot of money w/o having to sit up all night on the eastbound trip.
funny, I found it the other way. flying west to east, we got on the plane, flew for 10 hours, and it was the next morning. flying east to west, we got on the plane, flew for 10 hours, and it was still the same day.
I hope that Chewie stayed healthy during your trip.
9:07 ooooo those chockies. DO look nice 😍
Hi Diane, I came over from Lawrences Lost in the Pond channel to subscribe. 👍 Enjoyed your video.
Awesome! Thank you!
Sounds like you had a good time. That's great!😊❤
I really enjoyed this, thanks for talking us along, this was very educational and the voice over was a lot fun
Thanks for sharing Diane! I have tremors also. Seem to come from meds I have to take. I take another med that helps the tremors a lot. Probably can't post the name, but it was developed for BP and anxiety. Really hope your doctor can help you!
Thanks for the video 👍🏻
0:13 Allright; What's up, Young Lady?
🙂
Great video!
You should get a credit card now to build up your credit history and just pay everything off the month you spend it.
Being able to show longer continuous credit history is always better.
Diane just said that she didn't know that there are 7/11 stores outside of the United States.
7/11 is now and has for some time been a Japanese company. Yes, it was originally U.S. based, but... Things...
The presenter for Japan Eats UA-cam channel often goes to 7/11 and/or Lawson, which is another formerly American convenience store.
Someone pulled out in front of me & hit me head on.
My Dad is worried his knee might have a set back.
1:07 think of every pound as a star rating for the trip, so now it’s a 5⭐️ vacation🎉
😂😂😂
That’s a great way of looking at it! Tell it to my waist on my jeans 😜
That was a fun video!
I hear that O’Hare is getting another terminal upgrade but I don’t know if that will impact the International Terminal which you would have flown in and out of.
The rotating plastic seats have been at O’Hare for decades! Possibly since the late 1970’s.
The problems at O’Hare and its distance from the South Side is why I always prefer to Fly out of Midway Airport.
I’m not going to suggest that having lots of chocolate on a flight is at all related to getting “stress pimples”, but it’s great that you took the chance to take care of your skin.
(I made an ill advised joke earlier and I’m glad Editor Diane decided to snip it. It was definitely too soon. Besides, it really didn’t make any sense. Sorry. No sleep last night. Literally none.)
On Patreon? Yeah I didn’t want folks piling on that one. No problem!
I really liked the plastic seats. Far too entertaining! My plane Pimple grew and grew!
@@DianeJennings The plastic seats work way better than those thin paper seat covers which may or may not float away as you’re trying to land on them.
Diane went to Chicago, now she is back
She flew business class, she used a cool hack
It was mostly nice, but they served too much fish
It would be burgers and chocolate, if she had her wish
Yassss! I yam so sophisticated 😂
Wow didn't know about the bidding thing!
Good video. Thanks for the tips on upgrading to business class. I'll have to check into those if I get to return to Europe.
I really hope it works for somebody! I absolutely loved it
Salmon? Yum yum!
Nothing works in O’Hare, sorry to say. I avoid Chicago like the plague!
I upgraded to Executive non-smoking in a 747 from Seoul to Los Angeles for $110 on Northwest (formerly Northwest Orient). It was the entire upper level, much better than first class. One year later I tried the same thing on United and was quoted $1200. Yet another reason to hate UAL. Sadly, Northwest was bought out by Delta (I think) and ruined.
I am also a picky eater and hate To eat airplane food. They always put some weird sauce or mixed vegetables in with your food like they just give you a piece of chicken with some side vegetables or something. Never understand that😅
17:33 coughing in your face is how inner city Americans show they like you😜
Ohhhhhhh Lawrence how coo!!
It’s the cool countdown graphics!
Twas marshmallow
First time I ever saw a 7-11 was in Japan in 1978.
Miss ED is spicy today maybe we should fix her up with Mr Algorithm and see the sparks fly great job Diane
Congrats on a successful trip! Only 5 pounds? You behaved yourself! Can't wait to see your adventures.
11:36 my theory is, they pack us in economy so tight that we keep each other from jostling around too much
It's purely economics, you want cheap flights then you need more people buying tickets to make up for the low prices.
Thanks for these secret hacks Diane!
I hope they helped ya!
I'll definitely have to try some of those tricks to get an upgrade! I know I don't eat salad to destress. Actually, lettuce and kale both make me break out in hives.
Great shoutouts Jim and Rickey, and thanks for the great job on mine, Diane!
I’m so glad you liked it Brian! I used to be more familiar with those games, but I do know people really enjoy them!
I really hope you do try to hack sometime. I was delighted with my original results until the rescheduling.
We do understand queueing. Feel free to go with that. (American perspective)

Thanks For having a premiere today on Smiling Super Saturdays. I enjoyed chatting and getting see How Business Class lives compared to economy class. I did not know there were airport auctions for items. Any auction sometimes you can get real good deals on stuff like thrift shops and antique stores. Glad Chewie got to go for a walk. Give Him some Cuddles and Treats for being a Good Boy.
I sure will! I believe that there are also options for lost luggage and things people leave at the airport, but you have to physically go there as far as I know. That would be super fun to do. I know they do them in the USA, I’m not sure about Europe. So glad you enjoyed it!
@@DianeJennings That makes sense a lot of the hidden gems are found going to the auctions, thrift stores, and garage sales in person. I did always enjoy your premieres, I think the shout out turned out really good. 🎉
Cool 😊
No, you!

Happy Saturday!! Hi Diane Jennings.
Hello!!
14:23 Wayne’s World😂
Intra Euro first class is the worst. You have the same size seat as coach, they just leave the middle seat empty and you can move the arm seats.
I don't know what they're thinking, my stress relief jar contains alcohol.
I liked the lounge in Dublin. Had my first ever Bulmers there. And they have whiskey "on tap."
It’s meant to be very nice! I have not been in it. But I think our Airport is pretty cool.
@@DianeJennings Only issue with the Dublin Lounge is if you are travelling on an early flight (I was). It doesn't open till 6 (or maybe 7) so as my flight was at 6, it was a bit of a waste...
Lufthansa Frankfurt was gorgeous though😇
Love the video, but I gotta say, those nails... FABULOUS!
Glad you like them! You’ll be seeing a lot of them over the coming months because I had the same Nails the whole time in Chicago 😆
Glad you had a good flight! I upgraded at the airport for my flight from Canada to Ireland. I had my cat Archer with me so *really* appreciated the extra room! Except for the meal, spent the flight lying down with him in his carrier on me. He stayed calm and quiet the whole way. Also, I had the beef tenderloin. Favourite fruit is pineapple; favourite chocolate is Cadbury Dairy Milk Orange and Mars bars.
Oh wow! Was it difficult getting him into Ireland? Dublin airport is very odd with its restrictions. But perhaps with an American Airlines there was an easier process?
@@DianeJennings It turned out to be a lot easier, and a lot less stressful, than I imagined. I actually brought my two cats with me. Because of Air Canada's rules, one (Rogue) had to fly in the hold and Archer went with me in the cabin. The trickiest part was getting the paperwork filled in by the vet and then reviewed and stamped by the Canadian government. Once we got here, Irish customs reviewed the paperwork, scanned their chips, stamped the paperwork and we were on our way.
"So, Fast pass does not work in O'Hare Airport..."
Nothing works in O'Hare Airport.
I usually take extra usb cables and chargers too on the go. usb battery packs are good to have too.
Me too
@@DianeJennings Right On Some usb battery packs also double as electric hand warmers during winter time too. I have one and it works good. sporting good stores sell them, amazon and ebay.
18:51 unless the world revolves around you…. Which it might
Singapore Airlines has been consistently good for decades.
I think if you visit American again you should check out Beaumont Texas u might enjoy it the accent might make you laugh
All right, how do we sign up for the Diane Jennings Travel Agency to have you book all future flights a person might need?
😂😂 omg I couldn’t handle that stress. Just booking me is enough
15:39 but would you have preferred this meal choice to salmon?🤔
I hope to travel to Dublin in July. I was hoping someone could tell me if it can get up above 75 degrees fahrenheit (23.8 degrees celsius) during that month?
Yes, I believe it can. My last trip to Galway (May or June, and granted, it's in the west), it was 84 when I rolled into town. Pack layers
@@LindaC616 Thank you!

O Hare airport? I would rather walk to my destination than go through that place. They have a perfect record of always losing my luggage 🤣 BOOP

I am glad traveling to Chicago trip was more enjoyable on the Business Class than the Anaheim trip. Looked really comfortable and lots of food choices.
2:41 Whoa! Lololol...
Question, Young Lady:
How would you define Flexible in this case?
Flexible with the time of day, or with the day of the week, or with 5he season, the year...the century..?
Just wondering...lol
