I've been obsessed with home theater since the days of Dolby Pro Logic. I worked in the Home Theater section of Circuit City. Over the countless speakers and subwoofers I have experienced over the years and the hundreds of home theaters I've shared on my channel, JTR is my end game for a dedicated home theater. I'm grateful that you had the opportunity to experience for yourself what makes me smile every time I walk into this room to enjoy a movie or listen to music. I can't wait to hear your JTR system in Middleton.
Man, now I am REALLY curious what these sound like. I feel like my taste in speakers is very similar to yours. Ive watched Michael’s videos on numerous occasions on his JTR’s but he tends to like that liveliness of horn so I didn’t really give it a second thought if I’m being honest. Side note, I am really loving the collaboration between you two..seems very seamless and cool. Looking forward to more!
This is like tempting an alcoholic with a cold beer on a hot day when he's thirsty. I went down the AV/HT rabbit hole. I've argued over which brand of soldier is better for crossover construction. I've watched Nelson Pass videos in awe of his wisdom. I've built home theaters, open baffle speakers, infinite baffle subwoofers, built crossovers, built better acoustic panels than GIK does, I've done all that. I thought I've "checked that box", and was content with the room and equipment I've got. But here comes Matt.... The guy I was content with watching his (damn) videos cleaning his garage and washing his car.... but this SOB is going to drag me down this rabbit home again. My wife is going to be SOOO pissed.
Haha.. I’ve been wondering when you were gonna come this realization!! 🎉. I’ve watched a lot of your videos on most channels.. and the one thing that always kinda bugged me is how far you go to sacrifice performance and sound quality for the way something looks!! 🎉 your website offers a lot of higher priced speakers n such and I’ve been hoping for the day that you recommend/sell speakers and HT that isn’t all about the looks but perform way more than their price! 🎉 Keep up the awesome work!! I’ve a lot to learn! 🎉
My focus is absolute clarity, neutrality and capacity to expose the soft subtleties not just loud. Ive owned M&K S300, S150 , Ascendo, Perlisten R5m and the Perlisten are my favourites from that group for their precision and wonderful soundstaging. I've thought of JTR but never known if it's overdone on some of the YT hype. Toids did a version of these and then also has done another SB Audience based build he considers better again. I'm really focussed on the DIY options because the shipping for JTR is going to kill me in Australia. The recent price rise at JTR is not small. I would be very pleased to know how people are experiencing JTR, the sound stage, subtlety and such. I want to know how some of the DIY options at DIYSG and toids compare. Not to throw shade on JTR but just because I may not be able to get them to Australia.
The rear channels are higher than I would like, but I had to mount them there because of the entrance door. Ideally, I would prefer to have them the same height as my side surrounds. But every room has it's limitations and we have to work within them. I still have a great "bubble" of sound due to the dispersion from the 110HT-SL's.
He says JTR is the top of the tippidy top, until he discovers something else then it's old news Just listen with your own ears people and make an informed decision, it's really not that hard
I would love to see Erin’s Audio corner measure a model with the coaxial compression driver. The old 210HT measurements turned me off the brand for speakers. I own JTR subs and would buy them again but I am really not sure what to think of the JTR speakers. I am using JBL 4367s and would love a cheaper option to be just as good. For the same money I wonder how the RTJ 410 compares.
I think measurements are largely nonsense when it comes to real world listening. Do we really think every major speaker manufacturer can’t make a flat response?
@ yes i think most brands fail to make good measuring speakers. The 210 has an in room rising treble and a giant hole at 1100hz. Which can be seen in the polar plots and directly translates to in room response which is also measured. When you turn it up to get some vocal presents (female) the highs are going to shred your ears. So if they can’t make their cheaper speaker measure well it does not bode well for their other stuff. Only someone who has no experience with measurements will say they don’t translate. It is what you hear. There are a few things not measured (transients) as square wave testing is missing and a few others like detail are not measured well (micro transients). Most people are just impressed by the subs power and the dynamics of a horn but I want it all. Smooth response with those dynamics and it can be had with money. I just wonder if higher end JTR brings refinement or just more output. Measuring a model with a coaxial driver will show you if they do.
I heard both a RTJ 2 channel setup and full JTR home theater and was unimpressed. The RTJ while very dynamic, had poor imaging. I’m running JBL 4349s for my L/C/R and content with them for HT and 2 channel.
@@cl65captain thanks, good input. I imagine the JTRs are pretty good at getting loud with low distortion. JBL’s top models do that too. I just wonder about the finer points between the two brands. I have not heard the 4349 before. I have thought about buying 4 of them (used) for rears. But I might cheap out and get the JBL 70j-1s. My local theater uses the 70j-1 as rears and they seem fine. There are some advantages of the CBT. The down side would be the plastic cabinet.
you are going to need to use those 18 inch speakers in a bomb shelter. a normal construction house are going to get all the wall connections shaken apart with that much sound coming out of those
Even though I know you guys will never agree. This is exactly why I wish Obsessed Home Theatre would consider carrying CerwinVega! I know not near the calibre of the JTR speakers. The CerwinVegas high efficiency big speaker design makes for an extremely loud and fun home theatre that dosent break the bank.
I'd personally spend some more time with it. coming from marantz separates and going to anthem changed every dynamic in my room and brought a new level of immersion in a non idea setting. So I can only imagine what it would bring out of a purpose built space. Glad you finally got to experience jtr hoping to eventually get a dealer in Denver that carries their stuff.
@almac2323 well it seems JTR can sound clear at very high volume. It's niche. I would install in my home theater but have something else fly my listening experience for music
Does JTR not custom finish their speakers like what was available with their subwoofers? I've seen some JTR subwoofers with nice custom veneered finishes.

Tommy, if you are ever near Plant City, feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to have you over for a demo.
@ Thank you for that, if I am in the area I may just have to come have a listen. Also to tour the Youthman theater lol.
@@TommyDetails well if you come by for a demo of my JTR system, we will be in my Home Theater so you’ll definitely get a full tour of it.

It's interesting that you came to this conclusion shortly after becoming a dealer for JTR.
That’s not how it works.
I was planning on doing a 7.4.6 home theater with all Core 59s and Core Subs. Looks like I might need to rethink that.
Yes, JTR would destroy that.
I wonder if Matt will be able to sell these speakers
We are all set up as a dealer!
@ I see. Guess that’s why we got the video.
So how do you find the JTR compared to the perlisten speakers
To me JTR destroys them in pretty much every audible facet. But...I wouldn't want them in my living room. That is where Perlisten comes in for me.
@@ObsessedGaragethat’s surprising. I would think that the Perlisten subs would be unmatched for speed and detailed bass.
You dont have Problems with Separation between Surround Channels and Atmos Speakers because Surround Speakers are that high?

Beautiful seating!
Thank you kindly.
Mike, can you tell me what level your volume is at on your sub amps and what level you ran the volume on your AV7706 when you had it.
Have either of you heard a krix setup? They were going around of youtube a couple of years ago.
Yes my friend Tony from Build Montage has them. They are an Australian brand so we don’t typically see them often in the US.
You need to do a video on home theatre for people who live in apartments
good headphones.

Are JTR speakers available in the UK 🤔
Trinnov processor,cherry amplifiers, JTR speakers

Will there be a “demo room” created at OG for home theater? So people can come listen for themselves before buying?
Yes there will!
