The journalist showed exemple of the importance of Radio in the third world regions; me I say it is even more important in developed countries . Imagine a power shutdown and you can't access wifi internet, you can't charge your phone battery, we can't get youtube news or streamed radio.
In that case traditional radio is still valuable

Perhaps solar powered charging stations could emeliorate this vunerability to some extent. All comes down to costs and funding as always.
