2024 has been one of the most eventful years for the Indian banking industry in the last decade. This year, the RBI has been taking strict actions against banks like never before. While the RBI has issued warnings in the past, the severity of their actions this year is unprecedented.
Just recently, the RBI imposed a complete ban on Kotak Bank from onboarding new customers. A similar action was taken against HDFC a few years ago when the RBI asked them to stop onboarding new Credit Card Customers, a ban that lasted for approximately 1.5-2 years.
Adding to the turmoil, there have been reports of ICICI’s MD wanting to resign, but the RBI seems unwilling to allow it. Meanwhile, Axis Bank is still recovering from its acquisition of Citi Bank.
Given these developments, 2024 is perhaps the most crucial year to ask: Which is the Best Savings Bank Account in India in 2024?

Indusind looks good on paper but their website and branch team is quite bad.
I submitted form for opening account digitally and till date no action is taken.
Plus their cust care isnt of any use.

Just go with normal basic salary account preferred priority or all bullshit. I have normal hdfc salary account and my experience has been good so far.
Please note, to avail IDFC wealth account you need to have 10L in account not 5L.

Request to please correct on IDFC wealth account
Limit is not 5 lakh but they have increased it to 25 lakh
So we need to deposit 25 lakh to convert account to wealth and afterwards if we remove that money then we need to have a salary of 2.5 lakh per month to be credited in that account to continue that as wealth

Assuming you don't have a steady income yet you should opt for two accounts for now, a zero balance savings with a cheap Rupay debit card in SBI (preferred) or any govt bank like Union etc to keep savings amount you don't want to spend, and a Kotak 811 or Indusind Indie account for daily transactions with a free VISA virtual debit card for places where Rupay doesn't work.

Image of SBI has been ruined just because of these kind of influencers, they don't even bother themselves to check SBI Saving accounts type and directly gave their results after eating lot more money from other private sector bank... I had requested her politely to just look into it but she didn't even bother herself to reply what she is thinking... Why do you know?? Just because she also knew that SBI savings account provides far better services as well as far better benefits compared to others but she cannot say because they have eaten lot more money ..
sbi has one of the worst customer experience.For simply changing addresses you have to raise request online and then visit bank and fill a form and then submit with the request number. How cumbersome is this just for an address update.Pathetic. Bank managers are also not people friendly.
