Finland also has seasons, there isn’t always snow 😆
Wish it was mentioned in the video.
@Saul's Cart Webstore Few warm weeks? Nah it's much more
@Saul's Cart Webstore Oh yeah in north it might be just a few weeks or less
Greetings from Finland! Nice to see your reactions. A couple of things. It doesn't snow all the time in Finland. Only in winter. Finland is similar to Michigan(I lived there) In the area where I live in Finland, it doesn't snow often, maybe 5-10cm and there are winters when there isn't even snow in January... But it's so cold that the seawater freezes.. Airports are kept in good condition by plowing or they are treated so that snow does not remain on the runway.
The food section was pretty thin. Barby just handled the soup ingredients ;)
In Finland, we eat a lot of casseroles. Reindeer is not terribly common, first of all it is expensive and most of it is exported.
And that salmiakki ice cream is really good.
I think heavy metal is produced in Finland for melancholic reasons. It springs from deep in the Finnish soul landscape. When you look at the heavy metal map, most of the countries that produce are northern, dark and cold countries.
Reindeer meat expensive. For example last week we asked about the price of reindeer meat in local supermarket( the second best part of reindeer which you make käristys). Price was 37€/kilogram.
Hmm you have a point about heavy metal artists! What is your favorite casserole? Much love Finland!
I like the meat and potato casserole and the liver casserole with lingonberry jam.. Real Finnish food. ;)
When Christmas comes, i will get a malted potato casserole, which is my favorite of the Christmas casseroles. (Carrot, rutabaga, sweet potato and malted potato casserole)@@TheDemouchetsREACT
We have 200 000 reindeer in Lapland and 100 000 is born every year. We do not eat the Rudolph but we do eat reindeer. It taste very good.
Poor Dasher and Vincent.😅
@@TheDemouchetsREACT Actually male reindeer drop their antlers before Christmas time. So it means that Santas reindeer are female. I am not sure if I like that fact.
Cold smoked reindeer is delicious
I reckon it's about names. We don't eat reindeers with names, just the anonymous ones :D
Thanks for educating yourselves about different parts of the world! Some important facts on Finland outside Barby's video.. In 1906 Finnish women were given the right to vote and stand for election first in the world. Currently there are ten elected parties in the parliament of which five parties form a coalition government. According to the World Happiness Report by the UN Finland is the happiest country in the world for five consecutive years. Since 2018 Finland aims to become carbon neutral by 2035. And most recently, Finland applied NATO membership with Sweden this year. All other NATO members have ratified their membership except Hungary and Türkiye.
You guys truly understand the true nature of introverted people. ❤
Wow! We didn't realize this! Thanks for sharing with us.
Our airports rarely close for weather. We are really great at snow removal. We never have snow days here in Finland. Christmas eve we unwrap our gifts and have dinner and sauna time before eating. Christmas day is relaxing, eating leftovers, and another sauna. In the morning we have rice porridge, and one almond in the pot. whoever gets the almond gets their wish to become true. We eat pork, carrot casserole, potato casserole, sweet potato casserole, rutabaga casserole, beetroot salad, salmon, liver casserole, boiled potato, and pickled herring, for sweets we have a star-shaped puffed pastry filled with plum jam(Tähtitorte), glöggi and Piparkakku cookies(gingerbread). There are special Joulu olut( Christmas beers) that come for the holidays.
Us Finns are normally quiet people, but when we get drunk, then we come out from our shells and start talking.
as an Estonian pal, i can confirm, that Finland, in fact, has seasons. it is just colder there.
I have to correct that fish, it's "Muikku" and it does have english name "Vendace"
A finnish friend sent me a video where you see an airplane landing on a runway with 1.5m of snow... they are crazy! but again, they drive on the icy lakes in the winter so...
🇸🇪 here.
The whole Scandinavian peninsula (and Finland) is slowly rising. This is a rebounding effect that has taken place ever since the latest ice age ended about 10,000 years ago and the enormous pressure from the mile-thick ice layer ceased.
Heavy metal is alive and well in all other nordic countries too 🤘
A little in depth info between Finland and Estonia. The 2 capital cities of Helsinki (FIN) and Tallinn (EST) are about 50 miles from each other. Finns go to the Estonia for cheaper booze and the estonians go to Finland for better salaries. There are like 20 ferries crossing the bay each day and they are leaving every couple of hours so commuting is very easy, not that expensive either. The trip takes about 2-3 hours, depnds of the ferry. There is also a plan for building a tunnel between these 2 countries.
And yes they have same national anthems, ofcourse with different lyrics.
I live on the region with the highest landrise. IN my lifetime there has been a suburb built on what used to be sea. I live 150m from the old harbor, the sea is now 4km away.
Check out this, NIGHTWISH - Ghost Love Score (OFFICIAL LIVE), and you get an understanding of Finnish heavy metal bands. They are symphonic metal band.
Will do!
Hi there, a finn here :) Mostly the finnish quietness is about we being comfortable with silence, not necessarily introvertedness. We will gladly talk if you come to talk to us, but we usually won't be the conversation starters. Ofcourse, not everyone is like that, it's just a generalization that works quite well. When it comes to metal, I think the Cold Norther Winter Darkness has a lot to do with our fondness of loud, angry, even nihilistic and satanic music. Most of the times finns are easy to get along with, as we are generally kind and helpful folks, even if we might be a bit suspicious (but curious!) of outsiders. Our summers are short, warm and full of light, so we tend to live more then. Come winter, we shut ourselves to our homes and be cozy.
Welcome to Finlad
Much love!❤
I love when people watch finnish videos
Yes. She has it right. Inside, but when in concert All out!
I moved to Australia from Finland as a teen, and even now, after many years, I can't shake the Finnish "mannerisms." I'm an extrovert who loves to be alone and do my own thing. Full of contradictions and zero skill for small talk. Can't do it, I am so bad at it. Too blunt for most people. And i have what is called the Finnish stare. (Not called that by me). Apparently, it can make people uncomfortable, lol. I don't understand why others find Finns either rude or weird, as silence during gatherings is normal to me. There's no need for unnecessary trite conversations. I miss home and am returning late this year for a month. 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇦🇺
I Spent a a year in Pittsburg PA 1985-86, got The funny Hat!
❤ from Finland.
Reindeer can also be enjoyed on Pizza over here in Finland
We Finns ate Rudolph long time ago..
More than 75% of Finland is forest. 33% of Finland is swamp. And somehow we still fit in cities and farmland.... That is because a lot of the forest is both swamp and forest..
Santa Claus goes around homes on Christmas Eve handing out gifts, he usually comes to us around 6:00 p.m. Before that, we go to the sauna and have a Christmas meal.
Theres warm summer in finland. not always snowing😂
Love your reactions guys ❤
i would love to see you guys reacting to Poland episode 😂❤ it is very good and maybe you’ll find it interesting 🇵🇱
Added!
Thank's 👍
Well, some do believe that Santa lives in Finland: "Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Lapland Finland before Christmas - Arctic Circle Father Christmas".
The summers are hot even…
if you want to see what people who moved from the USA to Finland think and experience in Finland, I recommend the people daddi diesel and gio Bozz, who make a UA-cam video
I follow both of those guys and they are the BEST! Siis todella hauskaa seurata noita miehiä.
what about chicago in the winter, or Canada ?
Finnish rap is also very good
When going into metal music, it used to be like "Oh of course they're from country X" but now days it's like "Dude, what is this band? Oh band calldes x and x? Where are they from? Finland? Well duh.."
Yeah its kindof a introvert "budhist" mentality, like Im usually this quet shy
Geek bookworm type but in the rock and
Heavymetal gigs/festivals I let my Hulk
monster loose, esp after a few drinks.
Answer to your question at the end: Alcohol
It's not miukku it is muikku 🤣😂🤣
There is no huge difference between Scandinavia and Finland. Finland is a Nordic country like other Scandinavian countries. The only difference is that Finland has got more ppl with blond hair and blue eyes. Watch the video "Which country has the most blondies?"
Finland is politically, geographically economically and culturally a Nordic country.
Renny Harlin... die hard 2
Well my Grandma who immigrated from Finland as a Little Girl with her family during WWI was a bit on the shy side. When they left it was just after that war for independence. I'm sure her area has changed a lot being close to the Russian border. Her Mum came from Russia. From what I've heard Finland is ice and snow for 9 months of the year. In summer it's a Rev-head Paradise without any speed limits.
lol 9 months, there is 3 months of snow.
"Rev-head Paradise without any speed limits"? Not even close xD
@@Gibbetoo Finland has snow November-April. Most areas have snow November-March, and only South of the idiot south like Helsinki has like December-March
Can you do the geography now france
Sure! Added!
Reindeer meat is the best you can eat! ❤
I wish that Finland has all of Northwestern Federal District of Russia except for Kaliningrad Oblast Pskov Oblast Leningrad Oblast and Saint Petersburg.
I wish that Finland has Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Nenets-Yamalo Autonomous Okrug.
Finland area: 1,250,022 sq miles
Birthrate 7.9 and fertility rate 201.16 per 1,000 women.
Estonia has Leningrad Oblast and Saint Petersburg
Estonia Area: 50,661 sq miles
Birthrate 5.5 fertility rate 139.57 per 1,000 women
Pskov Oblast belongs to Latvia
Latvia area: 38,905 sq miles
Fertility rate 5.4 and birthrate of 139.56 per 1,000 women
Real Life Fun Facts Finnish kids have 20 hours of school per week with class breaks up to 15 minutes.
They don't have any tests either.
They have sports, pool and a video game room with bean bags.
I wish that American schools in all 50 states is like that.
Texas has Finnish communities that's so freaking cool.
In 1866-1868 270,000 Finns that is 8.5% of the Finnish population died from hunger I wish that they moved to Texas and have home schooling based on Finnish education.
Reindeer in Finland is a bit complicated thing. The translation of reindeer to finnish is usually ”poro”, which is a half domesticated version of reindeer thats exist in northern Finland and Scandinavia. The wild version of it is ”peura”, and that doesn’t exist in Finland. And what makes it even more complicated, ”peura” is also a deer. And those exist in Finland 😵💫
Finland was founded before the Soviet Union, never was part of it and couldn’t have gotten independence from it. There are a lot of other mistakes too, but whatever
luthearian
oh honey..
torilla tavataan
There is no big difference between Finland and Scandinavia.
Also Finland has no post soviet buildings, cuz Finland was never a part of Soviet union, never under communism and never an eastern bloc country.
The language is very different, their culture and heritage is pretty different as well. But, after living alongside each other for a very long time, we have become more similar
Helsinki has alot of RUSSIAN architecture from 100 years of Russian rule.. Also Russia moved the capital of Finland from Åbo to Helsinki just for the reason to make Finland more less "west" and more russian.. excuse my bad english :)
@@olehaugan9555 Finland was directly a part of Sweden over 600 years and got it's culture and sivilization through that. Welcome to see. My foreign friends who visited all Nordic countries told they cannot see differences except the language. Also swedish is the second official language in Finland and almost everybody can speak english.
