"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States of America. The lyrics come from "Defence of Fort M'Henry", a poem written in 1814 by the 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812.
Incredible performance! I love listen Rachmaninoff playing on the piano!!
Beautiful performance! I never knew Rachmaninoff played patriotic songs like this, God bless America!
Omg thank you so muchhhhhhjakalaka
Bravissimo !
Can I get the sheet music for this arr-
Rach played this in wartime often introducing his concerts. I doubt he thought it was fantastic but wartime is a time of jingoism. He hated what the Bolsheviks had done to his beloved Russia.
Rachmaninoff was a degenerate aristocrat. It was not “his Russia”. Russia belongs to the working class, the majority. Reactionary aristocrats who fuck their cousins don’t and will never represent Russia.
i would expect him to play the Soviet Anthem
WHY!? He was exiled from Russian ...
he didn't like communists and the revolution in 1917, probably he would play "God Save the Tsar" instead of it.
@VadimGolovetskiy He was an incestual aristocrat so yeah he probably would.
@@bjorkzhukov3638imagine hating your own kind so much. Y’all got nothing to be proud of
Why? He fled the Russian revolution in 1918. He was an aristocrat- with an estate in the country, its productivity delivered by serfs and then “liberated” serfs! Please do educate yourself- it’s an opportunity denied to many.
Soviet plays American be like
He ran away from Russia because of communism
He wasn’t Soviet, he was exiled from Soviet Russia.
what a waste of his unique gift
Waste? Would you prefer him to play Horst-Wessel lied instead?
