Can only speculate about most of these but the architect is supposed to be Girolamo Savonarola who ruled over Florence after the Medici could no longer hold their influence following multiple bad political decisions of Lorenzos son Piero. Considering the series it's plausible to say that Savonarola overthrew the Medici with assistance of both Riario and the people of Florence.
