7:01 and 7:38 - the Volvo Tundra concept pretty much became the Citroen BX. And in true Italian style of the time, they went asymmetric with the offset radiator grille. Had that made it into the '90s, the facelift model would be symmetrical.
9:54 - The Citroen GS Camargue (Ka-marg) was a stunning concept which has some looks of the Renault Alpine.
10:25 - Citroen Karin wants to speak to Tesla's manager!
9:21 - The corrugated G van became the HY van which was a production model with a long production run. The ones made specifically for the Dutch market had front hinged doors (with DS door handles on the inside) while all others had suicide doors. They were popular then and still are as roadside cafes and chip vans and had a multitude of body styles and different length wheel bases.
11:45 - That's pretty much the Citroen C6 which became a production model car and the last of the proper Big Citroens (TA, DS, SM, CX and XM) which replaced the XM back in around 2000. There was a production model parked to the left of it in the photo (you can only see the headlight).
13:42 - The 'new' Citroen logo in an oval is just an older logo that's been recycled.
Also the thing with Citroen is no matter what level the car was, from the simple and affordable 2cv right up to the complex and expensive SM, they were all badged as Citroens and sold through the same dealers selling all the different level models on the same forecourts as opposed to having completely different brand names to effectively separate the different levels (eg. Ford-Edsel-Mercury-Lincoln, Chevrolet-Pontiac-Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac, Honda-Acura, Toyota-Lexus, Nissan-Infiniti, etc.)

The Vespa car was built. I bought one from Portugal and imported into the UK some years ago. The Aston Martin Bulldog was a real car too. Mike Lowsby was the suspension guru at Aston Martin at the time, and lived a few doors down from our family home in Warwickshire (warricksher) where he parked this under a tarp on the grass outside his house. As I knew him well, he told me about it, a truly fascinating car. Just the one was built and was fully production ready, but as always, Aston was in financial difficulties and the Bulldog ended up being sold off. Last I heard it was with a collector in the States. The car was MONUMENTALLY quick.

17:31 that Volvo GT actually made it to production in form of the super rare Polestar 1 plug in hybrid GT car, body entirely out of carbon fiber, like 600hp or something, crazy complicated dual rear electric engines for true torque vectoring. The yellow headlamps on that Citroen concept were because from 1937 to 1993, French law required cars to have yellow headlamps.
(Which also means that those British folk of a certain age will remember having to apply temporary yellow stain or filters to their headlamps before boarding the ferry to France (as well as the dipped-beam adjusters to stop our dipped headlights pointing _into_ the eyes of oncoming drivers). And that for several weeks afterwards, it was obvious to the neighbours that you'd been to France on holiday.)

Yeah - about fifty years. Never made a lot of sense to us! Pininfarina is the design office responsible for the design of the 512 S Modulo, based on the chassis No. 23 of the Ferrari 512 S (which was a race car competing with the Porsche 917, of which only 25 instances were built).
The Lancia Stratos Zero was designed by Bertone, another Italian car design office and car body manufacturer. They also designed the NSU Sport Prinz and the Citroen XM.
The Bugatti study looks a lot like a typical Bugatti after the take-over by Volkswagen.
The Citroen C44 was originally a Volkswagen Iltis (German for polecat), which was used by the German and the Canadian armed forces. In the late 1970s the French government made a call for tender to replace their Hotchkiss Jeeps. Peugeot teamed up with Mercedes to built a G-Wagen with Peugeot engines (called a P4), while Citroen took the VW Iltis as base for its C-44. The P4 was awarded the contract. (In Germany the Iltis had secured the 1970s contract, while the "Wolf", the military version of the Mercedes G (produced partly by Steyr-Puch in Austria) made the 1980s/1990s tendering.)

It's not the hobby or racing cars consume great volume of energy, but the everyday used cars. And a typical day a battery can last, and charged overnight, it cant be that hard...

While it's not a European car, the 8th generation Honda Civic made in Swindon from 2005 to 2011 (FK1 to FK3 5 door and FN1 to FN4 3 door) had the all clear front end similar to the Citroen SM (and the Karin concept). They were nicknamed UFO's in Poland as they were nothing like anything Honda had made before or since as the 9th generation was more watered down.

Didn't know the Porsche 984, but what they describe happened some years later with the first Porsche Boxster, also called Porsche 986. The boxster is said to have saved Porsche economically in the 90ies. Now I'm curious what the 985 might have been. I guess it's still kept secret like the 984 was for a long time.
17:35 is the Cupra Urban Rebel. Cupra means Cup Racer. The brand is a daughter and the motorsports department of the spanish manufacturer Seat, which belongs to Volkswagen. 1985 to 2018 Cupra did only motorsports and Seat didn't have a name for sporty street models. Since 2018 Seat distributes sporty street models as Cupras. They are build on the same platforms as all of the VW group cars of same size and they mostly share even the same engines. So Audi A3, Skoda Fabia and Seat Leon are in some ways all VW Golfs.

15:30 the 984 Porsche was later replaced by the 986 Boxster in 1996 the old concept looks like Harm Lagay design. Those designs were said to be to individual to be put into production and Porsche was nearly bankrupt because of the plummeting dollar.
As Peter Schutz CEO from 1978 to 1986 had put all the bet on US market when the dollar due to Reagan‘s SDI finance program was sailing super high one dollar was nearly 4 Deutschmark today this would be 2 Euros.
When the dollar fell back to 2.4 Deutschmark the price of a 911 Porsche had to be pulled from 25,000 dollars to 45,000 dollars the car was impossible to sell..

At 11.47 is Citroens largest car: the C6. The main ice green one is a concept, but the black car in the left hand corner, showing the headlight is the real thing. So it is the successor to the DS. DS, then CX, then XM and then C6. Still has its hydrophenumatic ? suspension and could have a 2.2 litre twin turbo diesel with 8 speed auto. Can Google it. The car is famous for having the interior designed BEFORE the exterior. Quite a few in Australia at ridiculously low prices. If you are with a Citroen Car Club, running and maintaining it is relatively easy, with excellent fuel consumption, huge range, torquey grunt, refinement, cool interior - usually in light colours and super smooth ride - just made for Australia 🦘

theres one thats missing the 1988 peugeot oxia. 2 where built.
4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steering from the peugoet 405 group s rally car. the engine from the peugeot lemans 905.
an amalgamation of group b, group c and group s parts 605 hp, 217 mph.
if that car went into production it wouldve held the worlds fastest production car title untill the maclaren f1 came out.

    • @Mauro-82
      @Mauro-82 23 дні тому

Piaggio started out as an aircraft company, during the war the owner and son of the founder commissioned a scooter in anticipation of the post-war situation but was not satisfied with the result, the classic scooter with a bulky frame between the driver's legs, so he turned to Corradino D'Ascanio, a pioneer in the field of helicopters who hated motorbikes, who had been his employee before the war. D'Ascanio designed the Vespa (Wasp, probably the name was inspired by the shape of the scooter resembling that of an insect) but he never hid his disappointment at being more famous for the scooter than for his inventions and primacy in the field of helicopters. From the mechanics of the Vespa in 1948 was derived a small three-wheeled transport vehicle called the Ape (bee)
