The CampStove 2 has a 18650 battery, good size and it has all kinds of redundant thermal protection that will shut down the fan that stokes the fire if it gets too hot.
I’ve got one, and it works pretty well. Charges up pretty quickly, and has a built-in fan so that it can actually fan the flames a little better. I’ve never heard of anybody having a problem with it.
Camp stove 1 is still a beast. I can't justify having two stoves so I'll stick with the original. But well done. I love the improvements. All I wish I had is the 4 speed fan. I seem to burn through a lot of fuel. Side note to people that have these units. Smoker chips or pellets work awesome and add great flavor to you're food!
had the original campstove from first release loved it but had its flaws (still a fanatic part of anyone's kit ), campstove v2 sorts all those flaws out . just received mine this morning done a test and the flame indicator is a brilliant addition , 4 speed fan is amazing will make grilling a breeze and the ability to charge electronic equipment while not in use ( ie fired up ) is perfect . i cannot wait to try it out while camping . definitely worth the upgrade ... brilliant job biolite !!! edit to add , use the wood pellets even less smoke in fact i can easily say near zero !!
I wish Biolite could create a simplified version of this to use in pre-existing larger wood stoves. I'm picturing a metal rod insert of a standard drill bit thickness that could be inserted into a hole in the side if virtually any stove or fire. In the Canadian winters a larger indoor stove is required and solar isn't very reliable. Having something I could stick in my stove to charge batteries would be great.
Hey Chad, The updated thermoelectrics in the CampStove 2 required us to design the heat probe differently. The CampStove 2's probe is bigger and is only compatible with the CampStove 2 burn chamber.
How many watts in the typical/average case? How much energy is output for, say, 1 typically sized log of wood? Can you hook it up to a DC to DC charger?
Regarding to BioLite Camp Stove 2...Please, I think you BioLite should answer the doubts of the comments...The aluminum part melts? how long does it take to charge a cell phone? what kind of material is recommended for burning? Can I fully charge the power bank just by burning wood and how long does it take ? If the device malfunctions, it will be replaced or I will have my money back? In case of a natural disaster (when you do not have electricity) will the stove work for a few days or weeks just burning wood? How it works at sub-zero temperature? It will rust if I use it in camping on the beach? For how many minutes or hours can I use it without stopping? Can I use the stove every day and for how long, only minutes or hours? Thnaks!
Hey there - Alright, let's get into it. Here are answers to your questions! 1. The CampStove is built to last so you shouldn't experience parts melting. 2. The CampStove 2 produces 3 watts of continuous power and features an on-board 2600mAh battery to store your energy. A full battery is enough to provide more than a full phone charge and will charge at the standard speed of a USB charger. 3. We'd recommend burning solid biomass - sticks, twigs, small pieces of wood, wood pellets. 4. If you have any issues with the stove just reach out to us via support@bioliteenergy.com and we'll help you out! 5. Yup, the CampStove is designed to work when you are off grid - it charges its own battery from the heat of its own fire. 6. CampStove 2 has been tested in warm and cold climates and performs well. 7. It shouldn't rust as long as you make sure to keep it dry. 8/9. You can use it as long as you need to really. We had two ambassadors cook over this stove 2x a day everyday for one year and it held up great!
It seems in the new Biolite 2 Campstove the probe is made out of Aluminum instead of Copper like the original. Aluminum is lighter and more thermally conductive to enhance the power output but also melts at ~1250degF instead of ~1950degF. I propose that if you put a large item like a skillet, grill or kettle pot on top of the stove, load it up and ramp the fan up on high you may get over the aluminum melting point and melt the probe. You can easily get over 1250degF with a wood fire in the proper conditions; think about an aluminum can in a hot campfire. Probably can control by keeping the fan setting lower but may want to address this in the literature as it will always be a possibility.
es MUY difícil conseguirlo aquí en Argentina, y menos en patagonia, espero tratar de alguna manera de tenerlo para usarlo en mis próximos Trekkings gracias por este gran invento! (send me one to use in patagonia :)
0:20 Your marketing department needs to learn math: 50% more power is 100% + 50% or a bar colored 2/3 white and 1/3 yellow (or 3W according to the specs)
Heyy Biolite, I was looking around and found a competitor for you guys on Indigogo, "Pureflame mini pro" by Aishu tech, I own a Biolite Campstove 2 and will be looking forward to your next iteration of the Campstove 2. ♥️
Well over 3lbs for the whole thing and still only 3 watts charge at max. I applaud the innovation, but a woodgas trekking stove like the bushbuddy, combined with a much more powerful solar array is half the weight and half the cost if you factor the crazy expensive grill accessory. The base camp model is interesting however.
I always wanted a small fire next to a lithium battery.

You're food? Are you promoting cannibalism??
Have been using my original BioLite for over 4 years now, still going strong!

Thanks, Chris!
This camp stove will be a huge hit. I ordered mine 3-1-2017 The SolarPanel 10+ looks pretty cool too.
Got one for Christmas and absolutely love love it!!

having a stove that can charge your cabin is definitely a winner
I think these are great improvements to this stove. i own the original and this stove address many of those complaints of the original stove
Thanks Chad! We worked hard to incorporate the community's feedback into our new design. Glad you approve!
I would like to know if the new unit is adaptable to the original fire casing and if it is possible to purchase the new unit itself?
Hey Chad, The updated thermoelectrics in the CampStove 2 required us to design the heat probe differently. The CampStove 2's probe is bigger and is only compatible with the CampStove 2 burn chamber.
Now I know!
We love ours & looking forward to the Fire Pit this summer
I’m soo happy with this biolite campstove 2 bundle great work and quality
Looks like I need to upgrade, you can see the original stove and every accessory I've purchased in my gear layout on my channel.
Climate neutral? Can one replace the battery or do you have to replace the whole charge/fan unit?

I LOVE THIS!!!!
makes me wanna do another trip through USA again!
Thanks iroomi! You should definitely check this out for your next trip.
Excellent video, Cant wait to add this to our next outing, keep up the greta work Biotite and may you all have a blessed week.
Excited for you to get the chance to test it out.
What "Greta work" are you talking about? How is this related to anything that clueless teenager is advocating?
It's the anti Galaxy Note 7, instead of having your battery burst into flames you charge your battery WITH flames

That's awesome!
How do I order?
Meh, I'm still happy with my original. IT'S SO COOL 😍
Glad to hear you're still enjoying the CampStove 1!
I want this buy 😍 this is best on the world 😍

Thanks Pieter, we caught the animation snag, too. An updated video is coming out in February.

Many things in one. Love it ❤️.
I wonder why 7 people chose thumbs down? Why do that?
You need to make one the size of a oil barrel 😮
Got it: www.nydailynews.com/news/national/dumbo-high-tech-fire-pit-power-christmas-tree-lights-article-1.1543756
Nice, but need more powers I just wait for the camp stove 3
I'll wait for CampStove 10
or you can buy 5 CampStove 2
Or buy ten of the campstove 1
omg u did it u finally read my mind
dammm was about to buy campstove 1, got lucky dude jajajajajja
Clean energy hahaha
It's carbon-neutral. Burning wood releases the carbon the tree absorbed in the first place.
