HELPPPPPP!!! my Aussie pup is 18 weeks old and the puppy biting is HORRIBLE! it got a little better a couple weeks ago and now it got so bad again. she is also extremely stubborn and has such a mind of her own. I know with the herding breed the puppy biting is worse than other dogs but how was your dog's puppy biting and when did it stop? I know I will miss the puppy phase but I can't deal with the constant biting😭😭😭
The only time he really was nipping me was when I triggered it, which was when I'd run away from him in a field lol. It's normal for them to be mouthy so I gave Winston outlets to mouth things instead. Kongs are great it helped me a lot, also lick mats and bully sticks. Hope this helps 😊
Congratulations 🥳! For the first week I would say don't worry about training or teaching their name. The most important thing is to create a bond with your puppy first and let them experience the world. Remember they're babies, they haven't experienced a lot of things yet. Make sure that you love them and that they know that good things come from you. Hand feed all of their meals, pet them, play with them etc. Then you can start by teaching their name by: saying it (wait one second) then give them a high value treat. You'll have to do this over and over again but in short sessions. I started training Winston when he was around 3.5 months old like sit, down stay etc. The main way I trained Winston is by watching McCann dog training youtube channel, It's a great place to start. I hope this helped!
@@winstontheaussieshep thank you so much! That genuinely helped me a ton! Didnt know where to start or what he should be doing but hearing you say that puts me at ease at where me and Koa are at
ua-cam.com/video/Bq5CnaZdwA0/v-deo.html I've attached a video from this trainer I love called McCann Dogs; this is in regards to Whiskey. Maybe this is a technique you could apply 🤔. The video is titled for bursting out the door, BUT, JUST MAYBE, if Whiskey greeted him at the door, and you tried a few of these techniques it might work. 🤷🏾♀️ No guarantees but some of the same principles may apply. I appreciate your content and just wanted to share.
Thank you for sharing 🙂🙂 I love McCann dogs videos! Winston's actually great with his threshold training but still when it comes to Whiskey that goes out the door haha 😅 although these days he is getting much better. I'm really holding him accountable for his actions and I've seen good progress but still not perfect 😄 I just gotta keep at it and trust the process!
Good point: familiarity can make us overly confident and comfortable 😄 a new trail is a good idea
You have described my mini aussie perfectly! Impulse control has been the hardest thing.
My amazing boy!
