Now THIS is horror. No jumpscares, emotions that feel real, characters that feel alive, it makes you sit on the edge of your seat and a plot that feels mysterious
seriously. this is the kind of horror that needs to become the norm. genuine, real feeling fear. I like Five Nights at Freddy's and things like that, but it just isnt the same as genuine horror like this

honestly, yeah! if this was the kinda horror that was common, id be able to say that i like horror! but unfortunitly, a lotta "horror" stuff isnt actual horror, just "ooh jumpscare, big loud thing go stomp stomp! oh you have access to a gun and ammo and could easily kill it? no. just no. no reason just screw you."

@@oblozs10 people don’t like them because jumpscares require set up to be good. Like they need a whole buildup but most modern horror doesn’t give jumpscares enough tension for it to be good, thats why it seems really cheap nowadays.

I like how the message of Velma having killed Scooby Doo is both literal in their world and figurative in our world.
This is giving "velma meets original velma" vibes and i'm loving it!

I saw that little video and I was thinking I would have loved to see that as the actual concept instead of a bad teenage angst and drama
One is a critic to the state of decade old franchises while also being a story of a eldritch creature wanting to have a happy life with mortals he loves but one of this mortals just refuses to forget and let the mistery unresolved yet the beast can help himself but to still love her despite she’s the cause of everything
Meanwhile the other is a history about a gang of kids being ruined by a thing possessing one of them and killing the dog, and a mistery of what are they gonna do next
Is he going to recover form he’s pet loss?
What is her connection with the paranormal?
Are they gonna save her?
One is a critic and a history of a impossible wish and the other is a unresolved history of a tragedy
Avocado studios and neytrix do slightly different types of horror, but they’re both amazing!
I never expected the phrase “Oh, definitely not, I’m vegan!” to be so scary given the context. I hope these characters make some more appearances in other videos of yours, as this was thrilling!

It took me a few seconds to realize "Why would she reply that ?" and, OMG, the implication is horrificly good.
The skit at the beginning was a hundred times better than the actual show and as always the artwork is absolutely fucking incredible!
People say their art is perfect (which it is), but holy shit, the story writing is just top tier!

This... is actually pretty interesting. And not just because comparatively ANYTHING is 10000x more interesting than Velma, I mean this is legit a really good concept and I'd watch this as a show.
Also love the subtle hints that Velma is trapped in her own body and she's trying to warn everyone that she's possessed. From writing "that's not me" in her journal to crying. Cool ass concept.

Shaggy talking about Scooby was very well done. It was like he was slowly spiraling into insanity just thinking about it
As someone that has fallen into insanity over a scarily similar situation. He played it perfectly to the point where I had to smoke a fat blunt to calm down. Sounded exactly like me with my therapist ngl. Kodoos to the actor who showed how truely angering to insanity it is to just not know the truth even though deep down you already know it.
The way she tears up indicates two things:
1) Velma is still in there trying to fight off the monster from invading her mind and taking over her body, once she heard that the others deeply cared for her, she was heartbroken and moved into tears
2)Shaggy mentions that she’s allergic to dogs, when velma responded to the interviewer about a dog she had, she responds in a way which implies she ate the dog by thinking the interviewer meant if she ate a dog, And when she’s tearing up and says its her allergies, It could very likely be that she’s still eating scooby’s corpse
Or that the true Velma is crying over what her body was forced to do.

The whole idea of Velma not being normal was really nicely interpreted with her staring into the camera unlike the others who would look around.
the only time she looks away is when she says “I’m completely fine”, and people generally look away from others eyes when they’re lying

Love that everyone is jumping on the "Velma as a Horror" track. Its just so good and at least getting something out of that show.
It makes sense. It is creepy to have someone you know replaced by an imposter and that is what watching Velma feels like.
I wish they leaned into that instead of a shown by a terf with lots of ableism that romanticizes straight up sexual assault (kissing someone who is in a state that's closely to unconscious is sa by definition, especially because even before the state she didn't give her consent (btw even if she did if the person is now not able to that doesn't matter)) and try being "haha white people" while the director hates herself for not being white
THIS should have been the show. Dead ass this is so cool. Everything, down to the pacing and dialog. It’s truly haunting and beautiful.

This 5 minute video managed to be far more interesting and unique than Velma could ever hope to achieve.

The end bit of the journal stating "that's not me" over and over made me feel like it was building up as a sort of action horror reboot on the Scooby-Doo monster apocalypse comic where the gang have to find a way to bring Velma back using the crystals that caused her current state while also avoiding the thing that's supposedly their friend.
I like the detail in the opening section that Velma is coloured more saturated than the others. Shaggy, Daphne and Fred have these dim and greyish colours like their surroundings blending them in, but Velma is coloured much more harshly and stands out much more than the others, this differentiates her from the others, implying something is wrong.
There's so much more in this video and the illustrations that come with it, i'm honestly amazed by the work put into these videos. ⦿◽︎⦿
I have so much intrigue in this single sprinkle of story compared to the dumpster fire they tried to give us lol. This is why I always get so excited for your videos.
They could genuinely make a great adult horror story using Scooby-Doo characters. Not every villian in the Scooby-Doo universe is just some clown in a mask. Actual ghosts and demons canonically exist in the verse and the Mystery gang has even encountered them.
The show could literally start with this premise that Velma encountered a spirit/demon who was too tough to defeat and just straight up possessed her.
I like how they're all synergistic in their abilities then Velma just comes along and *chomp*
she's part of the synergy too, i think. others pointed out her design includes his skin and organs, which is probably a play on how she's a literal skinwalker
I've rewatched this so many times now. They animated intro with great voice acting, the way the song and speedpaint are edited together, and of course, THE ART ITSELF- fantastic, I would love to see these as posters.
Also gotta love the concept, I would totally watch an adult Scooby-Doo show with this kind of concept, so much better than the garbage we were given.
I love how chillingly still velma was when sitting. It gave me a feeling of something not being right when she said "Im vegan" After he mentioned her dog.

The details to the small movements of their eyeballs, eyebrows, and eyelids is amazing. Makes the character so expressive.

I feel like no one is talking about how daphane said “I’m not stupid, I know how these disorders are actually like. My mom-“ then she looks uncomfortable and tries to change the subject as if not wanting to speak about her mother saying “I know what it’s like.”. I am really curious about what happened to her mother or her. Did her mother have some of those disorders? Maybe.

God I love how they all have like, different layers of Scooby, Shaggy has his Soul, Daphne his bones and Freddy his muscle layer meat suit, while Velma seems to have some twisted tormented amalgamation of dog bones and parts
look a bit closer, she has his organs, including his skin.
The lines, the background music that slowly gets louder, the lore, the designs.. are just so perfect and scary! This is what i want.. a cartoon yet gives scary and creepy vibes.. with full of theories and mysteries!

Dude everyone is talking about the art and the story, and yea, while that’s definitely true, what really struck me is the frustration and fear in shaggy’s voice

I love how this combines the character designs from Velma with the character personalities of the original series
I love the small details in this, like how everyone else is shaded duller, and their clothes have more complexity to them (examples: more shading, more line work, more colors etc) while "Velma" has a brighter color palette and her shirt looks very simple
I really do love the color contrast between Velma and the others
I sensed more humanity and effort in this short than the entire two seasons of the show.

with you, directing this show, this would have being something from another world, i love every single piece of art that you create.
A detail I love, is that Shaggy's got the soul of Scooby, Daphne's got the bones, and Fred's got the muscles, whereas "Velma" only has the logo, because she harvests, not collects.

If the music wasn’t so intense there it might not be been scary or off putting. That really shows you how important mood is.

This whole thing goes so hard. If you were able to spin this either into a webcomic or full-blown animated webseries without being cracked down on, I'd watch it. This gives me Scooby-Doo Project vibes. Heck, the reference to Mystery Incorporated already got me with the reference of just what was possessing Velma.

@@penguinstarlette4028 the ghost of scooby. this COULD tie in to avocado animation's video about velma. plus, a talking dog had to be some sort of otherworldly creature, who's to say scoob isn't really a demon pretending to be a dog who wants to experience human interaction? velma is supposed to be the brainy one of the group, so it would make sense for scoob to possess her due to her knowledge and intelligence.
Again. This and the Animation by Avocardo are just billions of times better then the the actual license animation we got. Keep up the good work my friend!

Man, I love this. Especially Daphne's part. I intepreted it like her about to spill the beans of necromancy. Her mom wasn't mentally afflicted, it was something else and Daphne knew those symptoms well enough to deduce that Velma ain't got disorders going on.. But she manages to compose herself before revealing there's indeed supernatural powers and potentially get locked up as delusional person.
This is the "mature" Scooby Do I wanna see.
This is the kind of reboot I would watch in a heartbeat. This is some straight FIRE stuff hidden around the drawings. God tier.
This and Avocado Animation made me appreciate the Velma show’s existence that tiny bit more.
I like the idea that when the therapists couldn't help the rest of the gang delves into supernatural methods to either save Velma or destroy her and the creature possessing her.
Wish this was an actual series.

I remember seeing this FOREVER AGO and I just found it again in my recommended. I remember first.seeing.it, and thought it was actually from Velma, so when I watched some people react to the actual show, I was waiting for it, because I remembered it existing, but not enough to look it up again
Things i noticed
1. Velma is the only one that starts looking at the camera.
2. Velma starts crying when they open the journal. Possibly meaning she wants help and is hoping that they could help.
3. The tears could be about how her friends care for her
4. She states she is vegan after the comment about the dog. Possibly meaning she ate the dog.
5. She doesn't blink
6. Everyone looks tierd while she looks awake and fine. To the point where she looks creepy
Also the fact her colors are more saturated than the others.

If you look at the harvester art - you see scoobys tag in her stomach.
Also that the tears are yellow, this can mean A) her head is filled with that yellow liquid, possibly the thing that’s controlling her, B) she’s crying blood, but her blood has zero iron on it, which means that the body is dead and being controlled like a puppet
Love the part where Daphne explains she’s seen what mental illness is and that Velma is different. The way she says it is so foreboding. Props to the VA
Reminds me of the times she talks about her mother having mental breakdowns every once in a while in mystery incorporated

Not gonna lie, your versions of them look better than the original. Like, Velma for example, her design reminds me of a sweet little girl that won't harm a fly. Actually adorable.
Yes. The lines are smoother somehow. She has those big eyes like what other versions of Velma imply with her glasses. The glasses here are like a mask to hide behind. And I love that in her character design. Large eyes are associated with innocence and curiosity. There are also eyes wide in fear like they can’t believe what they’re seeing. Like, this Velma knows her situation and she’s so afraid and desperate. She’s so cute and looks just so sweet. Like, it’s tragic that this little lady has been possessed. And the body horror of eating your friends dog with no control over your own body. Gosh.
Yeah, all of them look so much nicer. Ig I wouldn’t have minded the race swapping if THIS was the style lol. And also if the writing was good ofc.
The part were shaggy was like “it doesn’t make sense he should still be there but there’s nothing” gave me straight up chills down my whole body
Part of me wonders if he has any cameras inside his house, and if he does that makes it so much more terrifying that he doesn’t know where Scooby went

I mean... am I the only one getting the obvious hint that she ate him? Or devoured/harvested in some other way.
Mostly because either Scooby is somehow hidden in the house and Shaggy cannot find him - but the fervent "He's not there" from Shaggy seems to imply he really isn't there - otherwise him being hidden would be sort of a letdown "No actually he is there." "Oh"
So if he's not there theres really only a couple way he could have gone, namely down the drains or inside well.... you know.
Which is perhaps again hinted at when Velma is asked about her "having a Dog"... And he first instinctive response is she's vegan. Now obviously - making fun of the "vegans will always tell you theyre vegans" stereotype is likely. But more likely, especially with how taken aback the psychiatrist is - is that Velma's first thought was genuinely of having... eaten Scooby. Her tears after this moment could also perhaps be "for Scooby", assuming as we see after - that "this" is not the real Velma. And that the real Velma had to watch whatever has overtaken her... eat her friend's dog... Tears, would be appropriate I feel.
Then again - could just be that she was crying over what a pathetic mess was made out of the show :p God knows thats also a tragedy worth spilling tears over xP

I just noticed that the whole gang looks deathly pale and corpse like, but “Velma” looks normal. I like that story telling there, like something is keeping her young and vibrant but everyone else looks like they’re getting the life sucked out of them.

I don't think their life force is getting drained, I think that's symptomatic of their emotional response to what's going on. Whatever's controlling her, by contrast, isn't upset, scared or worried at all.
I mean the lore does say Velma sucks out the souls of living things. Maybe the rest of them are slowly being drained by it, kinda like a chain smoking type of thing

You see, THIS is the kinda spin the series needed, the way you portray the characters and little quirks or nicknames, it leaves its own story interpretation to be held, its a billion times better than what was regurgitated by Mindy.

@@9Jaker9 Never said it was cannon. The creators said they wanted to "elevate Scooby Doo to an adult audience." and in order to do that, they got rid of scooby, among other terrible decisions.

There was a little boy, years ago, whose personality changed completely. UPDATE: After poking around, it might have been David. There's a video uploaded in 2022 that shows him grown up, and given the time distance, I think that might be him.
I love how Velma’s got the most vibrant colours of the video, makes her feel even more out of place
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING, the first thing I noticed though was the eyes, bright, gleeful, energized, she’s not the real Velma, though it has her skin
@@megeelee I think whatever has Velma is sharing a body with her. She's still there and conscious but it has more control but can't see
Also she doesn’t move almost at all. All of the others, even if they aren’t moving as much as Shaggy was, they still had small moves to accompany their speech, but she was almost completely still besides handing the journal over and the slight eye movement she makes when saying “completely fine!” It’s got a large amount of uncanny value in it and it’s fascinating to see it done in such extremely subtle ways.
Her eyes also look very wide and fearful even though she's smiling. The other characters had more realistic expressions so it sticks out.
