Hi, I was looking at this comment and was wondering if you are into BTS? I was looking for someone to help me with a project who was a fan of that group.
Hey, I’m in the very very beginning of learning Georgian. When I started watching your video and found out how complicated Georgian pronunciation can be I firstly thought “okay, that’s the end of my practice” but your explanation was so easy and clear. Thank you! I’ll keep learning this beautiful language.
Your pronunciation is very good. Interestingly, as a native speaker when I say 'ყ' my tongue just hovers in the air without touching anything. From my observation it's all in the throat, more specifically the lift of the larynx. When you swallow, you almost make a hummed 'ყ' sound because the same thing happens with the larynx except you're not pushing the air out.
Hey, I was actually thinking about that a while back, how the larynx lifts, but I was thinking it might not be so easy to explain it that way. As far as the tongue hovering in that air, that's really interesting, I'm going to think about that more, thanks for the insight

Ryan Nakao thanks for your prompt response. I am planning on visiting (Tbilisi) mid September. I know the window of time I have is short, but I would love to have the basics down. Any suggestions besides your videos, of course. Ha! And here's an fyi-something interesting. I live in Phoenix, AZ. A lot of my dear friends are Navajo. Over the years I've learned to understand and speak a little. This is a dying language, unfortunately. But my whole point is...the sound you make with your tongue and roof of your mouth is so similar! That's just my observation. Pretty cool! Thanks again and anything to help prepare my trip is very much appreciated, Ryan! Enjoy your day/evening!
Hey that's cool about the similarity in sound. As far as prepping, I would probably try and listen to or watch actual footage of Georgians speaking so you can hear what the basics sound like (I'm sure you can find stuff on youtube). I think people tend to not get enough exposure to actually hearing what the words sound like so that when they show up either their pronunciation is poor or they can't recognize what people are saying to them.
Ryan Nakao that makes perfect sense. I'll do just that. It's just that whole instant feedback that one needs to be corrected and encouraged. So, you're right...listening to the dialogue with a native Georgians will help immensely! Appreciate it!👍
