It reminds this construction worker of pouring concrete to create a solid structure. This is nature building dry land in the middle of the ocean.
I swear people do some crazy things.
Like be on the boat and take pictures of a shooting lava to the ocean.
I was there February 8th when this was much higher on the cliff. The rumble from the sea was mind-blowing! Our boat operator got us within 200 feet and had to back away periodically to get out of 150 degree water so his engines would not over heat. The last time I felt that kind of radiant heat was, as a kid, when my day took me to Kaiser Aluminum. If anyone thinks this is fake they are the truly dumb ones.
150 degree water? I was just wondering what the temperature of the water was like. I suppose at the right distance it would make for a nice bath.
Hi Kim. Where we launched from at Isaac Hale Park up the coast, there was a small pool that was wonderfully warm from geothermal heat. But what I'm learning watching the sad situation now is that water around the lava fall could be highly acidic. It's just part of Island building, but it makes me sad to see roads I drove a year ago being buried.
My dad worked at Kaiser Aluminum for a long time. Awww. I love my Dad. Spokane. Yay.
I don't think under normal circumstances(atmospheric pressure ) you can heat water to 150 degrees. It can go upto 100 then will become steam.
i assume he means 150F which is 65C
