I saw that flip live and my heart just sank. But, you came back out and ran your heart out to finish the race. Incredible driving. Midget racing might be your thing. Great job!✌️
Remember watching the 1979 nba championship game, 3 seconds I think on the clock, Sonics ball inbound at the midcourt, a shot was that which was by most standard a hail marry but, Sonics won the game. Never count em out till the whistle blows! That's if memory serves me correctly, many, many moons ago.
It's the Chili Bowl! 1st in the heat 2nd pre-lim And overcoming the flip to finish 13th I would say a very successful inaugural Chili Bowl for you! Keep it going one of the toughest places in the world!
Moving forward.......or backwards is merely part of the game. Knowing that your skills will now step in and intution takes hold, working with what you got and coming away a little richer in expeirence, wisdom and knowledge makes it all worth while. You are becoming a racer Tanner that has the features of a gentleman and scholar. Knowing who, what, where and when as the facts roll in and then determining an answer, even if it only be within yourself, is a quality this sport so deperately needs, once again. This is not a battle, a war, that of which it is just a stepping stone to promote those that can acknowledge the glass is neither half full or half empty......but it does contain something! Proud of you bud!
The slider was a little close in my opinion. Great job by you & the team on the recovery though! I hope to see you in more midget races after this, you’re killing it!
Remember what I said about people are taking notice of your skills. Last time I was on a track was about 15 years ago in a 600 micro. Stay humble. If I was still involved in the sport, I would be proud to have you behind the wheel of my car.
What an awesome run for you so far. I wish I could come meet you at the chili bowl. My nephew came by last night and picked up a hoodie for me that you signed. Been a fan for a couple of years. Keep kicking butt
Way to pick up those 10 spots after the roll-over. Like Marvin said, Being honest with yourself with what happened reflects well on you! Keep digging young man. I love hearing your sister telling you to go get some after the accident. Good luck the rest of the way!
Buddy that was fun to watch. Your making all of us southern Oregon/Northern California's proud. Let's Alphabet soup it on Saturday and get in the main event, while your at it just WIN 🏆 the darn thing. Good luck we will be watching . God bless the 18t and 22c.
Tanner you ran a great night there. It's Chilli Bowl , my young friend, you had your ups and downs, but for your first Chilli Bowl, it ain't over till it's over and its just begun. God Bless and stay safe, you've got several more nights to come and it will just get better.
In my honest opinion, I think you found your main series. You're good in wing sprints. But I feel this is your series. You look really good out there as if you belong or fit in easily.
Close slide into your line ... much the same as checking-up in front off you ... not good, but we'll call it a racing accident . Best of luck for Saturday !
You did really well there Tanner , you come over adversity after that flip to storm back through the Field. It would have opened some eyes in the pits for the way you drove.
Ripping the top after a flip not knowing what is completely wrong with the car is awesome. Great job crew great come back. Good luck Saturday you're the man. Kyle Larson gave you props on David Gravel's pod cast, a lot more great things are coming in your future I can feel it.
@@fresnokidsr great post. Kyle and Tanner grew up in the same area Tanner Oregon, Kyle northern California. But still have run the same tracks and if Tanner looks this good this early in the midget, sky is the limit for this kid. Thanks for a positive post and please pray for Thorgsen, remarkable he is in the shape he is and props to the crew on track and Flo for the sportsmanship they showed in a horrific situation. I'm sorry if I didn't do his name justice, I think everyone knows who I'm talking about. 🙏
You won , tipped over , drove hard and smart getting back to 13th . C main , it's win , place or show , just like a horse race . You got a very good ride so i think you'll do fine !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not gonna lie you are doing a lot better than I thought that you might being that it is your Chili bowl. I think that if you keep driving as hard as the teams work on your car you will at least catch the eye of a lot of people that may not have paid attention to you if you really did lnt do well at all. Keep being very astute in your driving Tanner you will do pretty good and if the rest of the preliminaries go as well as this night started off I think that you will do fine. Thank for this video. Tanner I hope that we will get to see video(s) from you about your racing in Shawnee. Have fun take care
Thanks for kind of putting me and my brother in the video and good luck Saturday i race bp wing I had 20 people in my a main and I started 1st and I flip and made a miracles comeback and I won on a last corner pass
Thanks for singing my t-shirt and also getting Carly to sign it as well and it was awesome to finally meet you in person I wish you luck and I will see you tonight!
A win in your first race in a midget that just happened to be at the chili bowl and then followed it up with a second and a run through the field from the back after falling victim to a bad slide job. Anyway you slice it that was a successful outing. Looking for good things to come on Saturday. Give them hell Bud, you have the car and the ability to run up front.
Experience is everything so don't be hard on yourself !!! What a Great crew, they got you back on track and YOU DID YOUR JOB and moved forward, so GREAT FINISH !!! YOU are young first time in a midget !!! How many rookies Win first time out ? Not many . It takes experience, self discipline, trust in yourself and crew, not to mention racing luck !!! You are doing GREAT, just let it happen !!! GOD BLESS !!!
It is my understanding that the dirt they use for the Chilli Bowl racing surface is dirt from the old Tulsa Speedway that was at this very Fairgrounds, which is the horse racing track now.
Not sure where it originally came from ,but that is very possible. I do know it's the same dirt every year for the shootout and Chili bowl races only (or at least that's what I've been told)
@@marvinallen9197 Well my understanding came from an interview Emmett Hahn did several years ago, in which he stated that he had purchased several tons of the dirt from Tulsa County when the county was going to remove the dirt from the track that is now a horse racing track. It is significant due to the rich history of the Tulsa Fairgrounds Speedway. Because a lot of well know drivers raced on the track while it was located at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds.
Good run Kiddo. Not your fault for the wreck in the A Main. Like i've been saying, you know what to do. Don't question yourself. Nice to see the rest of the family there. Thoughts and prayers with Ashton.
great job. First night racing a midget driving like you been doing it for years. What could have been ... This is why you got this opportunity when it could have gone to someone with more experience. Your professional attitude is well known and is a credit to you and your family.
Awesome job tanner for your first chili bowl, the crash wasn’t really your fault, not a lot you could do, if you got off the gas u would slide around but if u kept in it you would have hit him so no your fault. What do you think about Michael Pickens and the slide job that was dished out on him tanner?
The best way to look at it is, being a rookie and having so few laps you can pass. That’s huge, picking up that many spots with about half a race left, you should be going into Saturday having confidence knowing you’re fast while still learning, I was bummed when you flipped, more bummed flo wasn’t showing you charge back through. But good luck Saturday will be rooting for ya! Hope you make it in!
Heck of a recovery! Nothing to be ashamed of there. The car has speed! Just give it your best shot Saturday! You can get there! One of my best friends has raced there a few times and never got close to a C main 🤣 At least you get to relax a bit on Saturday and enjoy it before it's time to get serious.
I'm not sure but the outer lane doesn't seam to.keep after you pass. Is seame to be just a bit to much longer then the iner lanes..it's like either get a bit faster or set it for the inter lanes. Hey for flipping and then finishing the race is just awsome..I sent this video to Johnny meskill he has flaged for you in redding..also my seven year old nephew is racing at lake Port ca. And my 3.5 year old nephew has his kart already.
While sliding someone you need to make sure you're clear but I think he/she just went for it anyway. If they cleared you and you didn't break it'd be on you but that's not how it went. Just my 2 cents.
No need to spend days analyzing that crash. Tight fast racing, he slid up close, you let off hit the brakes tire dug in and you rolled. Their will be dozens. Focus on the next race and watch how the track changes, learn what an experienced crew does to the car
It was a tight slider, frim what i chave seen on your video and Flo i think he did make contact with the last 8" of his bumper. Dont think it was a real fault of anyone.
Tanner , your first real race in a midget , you win. Your second real race in a midget you finish second. Your first real main event in a midget you get upside-down and then proceed to put on a show from 24 to 13th OUT FRIGGIN STANDING my friend. That thing was flying around the outside! Wrong place wrong time. It happens on these micro bullrings. DO NOT beat yourself up on this one. You drove that badboy like your Outlaw Kart. Fast and Furious buddy! Again, OUT FRIGGIN STANDING!
Watched that race on a different feed. That guy that slid you knew he wasn’t clear. Those big teams know you’re quick. They’ve painted a target on you. There will be one of those big teams blocking for the others.
Tanner you are first class! You had an amazing first day, great job, great job to your family team and fans! Keep up the awesome work!! Just remember this and especially to become a top racer, first you have to be liked, when you are liked then you will trusted once , after you are liked an trusted then you will be respected! Earning respect is the greatest win of your life, make it a great evening, jw
I love the drive and tenacity you are showing. The CBI team is amazing and one of the most organized out there and got you back on track. If you watch back the earlier film when you started and see how you are working the throttle and steering input to now you are learning so much and getting so much better and better every lap you get to run. You should have a wealth of confidence running into Saturday and that makes you a dangerous man to run up through there and make this main event. Let's go Tanner were all behind you!!

Best of luck Saturday. One race at a time, you've come a long way, no matter how you finish, this experience is a win for you.

Great comeback!
How long before a Midget gets built in the race shop? Lol. You are hooked..

Man them front tires look like they should be snapping off every corner. Good Luck
He got a future in racing great job. Seems to me he is a sponsor dream.
Prayers to Ashton
How????? I would like to know how he came out of the car. I'm so glad he's ok that was scary scary the hair on my neck stood up
Awesome job all night, especially for a rookie in a midget.
After I watched now he explained why lol !! He's still awesome with a whole lot of talent !!!!!
someone that has a youtube channel posted a video of your races 2 days ago.
If you’re talking about Bennett I’d imagine Tanner is aware considering they rode together.
Tanner ' you did a good job on ripping the lip to gain back 10 spots' keep digging
Hi
Slide or die
Very disappointed in you Tanner.
Your 1st professional ride ........... And you dumped 1st night.

You did great. You had a little help when you got upside down. That's racing I guess. Keep up the good work.
Jumped the cushion, but went right back up to that ever-decreasing cushion to re-gain a lot of places - well done Tanner.
You are doing great. That come back shows you got what it takes . Go fast be safe can't wait to see your next race.
You were moving forward like nobody else. Saturday will be good for you. 😎🍿
Good Run Tanner! Rebounding after a flip for a 13th place finish is nothing to hang your head on! Good luck on the rest of the chili bowl!
Nice run just ran out of laps, impressive driver.

Sir you can’t park there😂. All jokes aside you looked good Monday night. I see you advancing
Very proud of you. Definitely turning heads in your direction
You are showing sponsors and car owners that you can compete with the the big dogs. That’s a good thing, let’s all remember that and move on.

Tanner--great race. Stuff happens. Waiting on the C-Main on Saturday.
Don’t watch in slow motion that throws it off.. If you watch it in real time he gets done dirty. Simple. Seen worse but still.

It was close. Hard to say.
