Orion, a Greek god of the hunt and the name of a prominent constellation highly visible during North America's autumn hunting seasons, is an appropriate name for this Wby side-by-side. I hunted those pheasants with one in .410 and found it remarkably deadly! From the looks of the clays you were powdering, Adam, you found the 28 ga. equally deadly. Fun hanging with you.
This video brings back memories of my childhood when my uncle’s cousins and my family would get together on opening day at my grandparents farm! The Des Moines register actually came out and hunted and did an article with my grandpa back in the day for the quality of pheasant hunting his farm had.
I love my 28ga. It's an older Remington 11-48 my dad gave me when i was 8 years old. He took me quail hunting. i got good with it then he gave me a matching 12ga when i got older both great shooting guns my fist side by side was an really old model lakeside double trigger
I was raised using a BRNO ( now CZ ) side by side that my dad still owns ( and even though he was born 1947, he still occasionally uses it ) and this video warmed my heart.
I had a double trigger side-by-side .410 when I was a young teen. Lots of great memories with that gun. Now I have a side-by-side .28 made in Argentina. I looked around online but didn't see anyone that had the Weatherby Orion side-by-sides in stock yet. Would love to own another one!
So glad to see this video. I purchased a Orion sporting OU bout 2 months ago & have loved it! You have me wanting one of these 28ga side x sides ! I’ve never had a 28ga before !
* I must applause Wby. for bring out a SxS with double triggers. Someone at Wby. knows a thing or two about what makes a SxS a shotgun for bird hunters as opposed to one more suitable for shooting clay birds. Single Selective Triggers ( SST ) are fine for clay target games, but the double trigger shotgun gives the experienced hunter the instantaneous choice of which choke is optimal when presented with birds that can appear suddenly at various unknown distances. The hunter doesn't have to try and switch barrels using a SST system, he can decide which choke to use while shouldering his shotgun. Double triggers are so simple and so fast that any double barreled shotgun intended for the field should come with, at least the option of obtaining, double triggers. Thank you Wby.
I have an Orion O/U and have several rounds through it on the skeet range and have no issues at all with it... It fits me well and I shoot it great. I would love to see this sxs in 16 as well... If they made it in 16, I would break my arm from grabbing my wallet so fast... :)
Nice bing bang Whotee, would have been nice to see a 28 gage shell next to a 12 gage for a size comparison for us people that have never seen or heard of a 28g shotgun, love ya work mate, cheers Yogi ✌️
A side by side or over and under.410 sounds fun. I hunt wild Pheasants in Oregon started with a 12 went to a 20 gauge and now I’m pondering a 410? Good video Adam!
That 28 bee would look good beside my browning o/u 28 I bought in the 90s while in sd dog shooting,,it cried out to me while picking up my varmint license in gander mountain, mitchell,sd
Hello. Love Pheasant hunting with good gun dogs! Used to have a couple of English Springer Spaniels. I really like side by sides! I have a Stevens model 311, 12 gauge, double trigger. I see the Weatherby stamp on the side of the barrel says Wyoming. Is the gun made in Wyoming or is that just company headquarters? What is the MSRP - If you know?
sometimes the old ways are best such as double triggers ive had the fancy single trigger with switch for barrel selecting but wen out in the feild making split second decision to change barrel u will have more f ups trying to switch barrels rather than moving your finger from one trigger to the other many a times a double trigger will beat a single trigger not mentioning any shots that fail well with one trigger your stuffed and lost again they dont make double rifles with a single trigger so why with a shot gun just to say u have a fancy gun well fancy guns dont always bring home the bacon 2 triggers equals 2 guns also a bit like old pins on a bow u can chane the distance but moving your eye to the next pin than this dial a distance by the time u change the dial the animal could of leaped another 10 yards so yeah at times the old ways can out do new ideas
I've got a nice 220 swift for u at my shop I work at hardware/gun store I'm in hardware but can't help but to sneak off to the guns but anyway it's an old weather be
Well now this was a interesting video and a very interesting shotgun. I used to own a 28 gauge a Remington 1100 semi-auto and it was a good shooter. I do not like side by side or over and under when I'm out hunting. Pheasants because I do not like to be limited to two shots. I have jumped up here in Kansas. Big numbers of birds at one time and I like to have the maximum amount of shotgun shells that I can have in my gun for that reason.

Always great to see you Mr. Spomer!
Two of my favorite outdoorsmen right now
I owned a Weatherby Orion over and under gun with a Prince of Whales pistol grip in the late 1990's. I loved that gun.

It looks identical to my CZ Bobwhite. Interesting. But I love it!
The Orion’s are very sweet shooting shotguns. 👌🏻
Side by sides are so much fun, it's a special shotty to handle.

HEY!!! Nice thumbnail, Love mw a good Weatherby.
Thanks! Me too!
You need a coach gun if you like that Orion. Gotta polish up every sxs. Sxs double trigger shotguns are my favorite guns of all.
Live in So. Dakota all my life . Pheasant hunting is hohum for me but I'm getting in to native birds these days .
That 28 bee would look good beside my browning o/u 28 I bought in the 90s while in sd dog shooting,,it cried out to me while picking up my varmint license in gander mountain, mitchell,sd

Those Birds never stood a chance !

The best side by sides you can have are 28 and 16 ga.
Are you working on any videos for the new Ruger American gen ii 22 ARC? Not many bolt action videos out there yet, mainly all gas gun stuff.
Nothing in the plans yet
