I just recently acquired the PG KOP Lucky Charms. I’m not a fan of demonstrators, but I do agree that the KOP demonstrators, and in my case the Lucky Charms, do look great mainly due to, as you noted, the generous amount of bright metal for the converter, nib and the cap band. The pen feels great in hand and excludes quality and precision when put in to use.
I bought a Sailor PG KOP in black and gold, for almost 500€, I got also one of the new nibs without the "1911" on it. The pen is a STELLAR WRITER, I just love it. The only small issue that I see is the converter, which is small, my nib is a medium, so that is not such a downside, but for a broad nib, it would be definitely too small.
I too wish the cap sleeve were clear; also, how classier the pen would look if they changed the black plastic converter knob for a metal one! I'm torn between the clear, the black with chrome trim and the Midnight Sky, but I think the Midnight Sky leans too green for me. The perfect one for me would be a deep ultramarine blue or an Iroshizuku Shin-Kai colour, cap and body. Do you still have your PG KOP?
Thanks for the comment! A metal knob on the converter would definitely have been better. I like the Midnight Sky but I haven't seen it in person. I do still have my PG KOP. I like it a lot. I might go for an urushi over ebonite KOP at some point.
Hi Sourabh thank you for the comment! You have a good eye! The El Primero HW is one of my favorite watches. It is older now but I haven't found a newer Zenith that I like better.
@@BlakesBroadcast it’s such a unique watch in the zenith catalogue. I too love it to bits and there are no more el primeros that are hand wound or with arabic numerals.
The KoP when capped is longer than a capped Pelikan M1000, the price is more expensive than Pelikan M1000 which I find the Pelikan is more worth it because I am a Pelikan fan, just a personal preference.
You can still buy them from Japanese dealers on eBay and Amazon in the $500-$600 but you wont have a warranty (as far as I know). I bought mine that way. It definitely doesn't feel good as a consumer that they charge $990 USD when they are selling for $500 in Japan.
@@BlakesBroadcast I know! Exactly. I've thought those are nice, but at those prices, then we're talking Namiki and Nakaya territory with potentially better value for the money
I recently got a black 1911 KoP . Now what am I supposed to do with my other 49 pens?
Haha. That's a great pen. You can always sell or give away unwanted pens. I do that all the time.
Thank you for this review, many good points.
Thanks for watching!

Congrats! The Lucky Charms version looks great. Definitely an excellent quality pen with a special nib.
aaah I recently added this same pen to my wish list.

I definitely refill mine a lot but I like to change pens and ink frequently.

You’ve got one of my favourite watches of all time, the zenith el primero HW :D

Very nice review!!! Subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
Nice review mate. Greetings from Australia.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it.
I assume that extended metal section of the converter is also on the non-demonstrator version. Beautiful but as you stated not for >$900 !!
Hi Gino, you are correct that the extended metal section is also on the non-demonstrator models.
Nice review. Keep it up 👍
Thanks Alvin! I appreciate it.

Which version of the KOP are you referring to? In the US the plastic Sailor King of Pen is cheaper than the M1000.
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
Oh and a few years back they were $500 usd from Japan. Now they are taking the piss and can buy specialty MB for that money.

@@BlakesBroadcast In Australia every bloody thing we buy is like that.
Lovely pen. The ink is Souten, I expect.
I am pretty sure that is it! Thank you.
If the ink is a sailor jentle that looks like Kon-peki it must be "Souten"
I believe you are correct! Thank you for the ID.
Would have been nice if it was piston filler of vacuum plunger
I definitely think that would have made it better though I do love cartridge and converter pens.
To me the fancy filling methods are needless over-engineering. Way cooler though.
If only they came in more interesting materials...
Thanks for the comment! They do come in ebonite and ebonite painted with Urushi as well as briar wood but the prices for those models get a bit crazy.

I like the pen but not the price.
Hi Richard, thank you for the comment! I agree that the price is very high for this pen.
