This is an on point video which students heading to the US should think about. Investing so much and then having your life hanging on a lottery is disappointing and not for everyone. With growing numbers of students heading to the US, the chances are getting slimmer which not many people realize until they get up close to the on ground situation. Great to put up the video with numbers!
If you have to come to study, why are you even thinking of working in USA? It seems like something wrong with the plan.

Yes perfect video. I am finishing up my MS EE this year. Just got done with my internship. I am working with an assumption that I only have 3 years to stay and work in the US. O1 visas are difficult and most likely you would need a PhD or research based MS to fufill one or two criterias. As you rightly pointed out - if the goal is to immigrate and live in another country for longer periods of time then USA is not a good option.
Many countries provide a better or on par lifestyle as US. For long term stay US is not a good place to stay for immigrants

You didn't talk about the fraudulent activities happening in the H1B visa pools by consultancies who are submitting multiple applications for the same candidate without a legit job offer. Due to this issue many genuine applications with a real job offer are not being selected.
Yeah, same thing came to my mind as well. A lot of genuinely talented people are losing out because of these fraudulent activities.
The students are as guilty as the consulting firms for allowing multiple applications to be submitted. Thankfully, the US government has caught on to this and now penalizing both parties.

Hello Parth, does obtaining a PhD from the USA increase your chances of obtaining an H1B visa, or are you in the same pool as master's students? Additionally, what advantages does a PhD degree provide in terms of staying long-term in the USA?
No advantage regarding H1B even if you have PhD. However, if you do PhD and perform well, you'll cover a lot of criteria for O1 or EB1. But then PhD is a long grind. Dont do it only to get a visa

I didnt get h1b in any of my three chances. I had a masters and genuine job. The frauds happenee in the past 2 years is appalling. Uscis is doing very little to rectify the issue. Its not that hard. For international students, we have to fund a e verifying firm and do paperworks wvery 6 months. How is it that hard to find genuine applications?

TN is a non immigrant visa. You can extend it indefinitely, but you will not get green card or passport
Same scenario happens with h1b, your employer can file your green card but it will take hell lot of time to get green card at least 20 years if you apply today, TN visa is more secured at least you can go back to Canada if things don’t work out
One small suggestion: You can a get better mic, your voicedrops off at the end of sentence

IMO, it would have been better if the drawbacks of it are mentioned as well. Some (not all) face issues when they go for H1B stamping if they had a history of Day 1 CPT. We can't come back to the US if you travel on Day 1 CPT. F1 visa on Day 1 CPT is not eligible for renewal and all of that etc.
Would have loved it if you had mentioned the F1 visa issued per year vs available H1s as well as the green card backlog. But I guess I can only hope for so much.

that is what the entire video was buddy. people come here for a master on f1, hopefully get a job and their company sponsors H1b visa, then hopefully it gets picked up which gives them +3 years, then maybe they can apply for creen card. this video clearly says that too many students are going to the US. lakhs of students applying for 80,000 H1bs. A lot of them will not get it.
It's not advisable to use h1b as a feasible visa to stay in the US long term. If you are opting for H1b route, you can expect to stay in the US temporarily. This stay can be anywhere between 3 yes to 6 yrs depending on several factors on how your life plays out.
I have 5 years of work experience in manual testing. My F1 visa got approved recently for a low ranked day-1 CPT college! I could learn things faster but I had never done coding till now. Is it a better decision to switch to the coding side now? Can I compete with the other people and get a job by the time I graduate? I heard that people apply for some hundreds of companies and barely get 2-3 interview calls. From now on, I think the situation will be worse after 2 years as lakhs of students came into the USA this year. My college classes will start on October 16. I hardly have 20 days in my hand. I'm in the utter state of confusion. Any suggestions please?

@@SAIVINAY007 I opted to stay back!! I took courses related to data science and started my learning journey. It's not about the hardships that I'm going to face in the US for the next two years. I'm prepared to face all the challenges in the US but what after that? Uncertainty in life!! H1B lottery!! The situation was not that bad until covid. Now, with the huge inflow of students since the past 3 years the situation will be even worse in the upcoming years. I decided to stay back here and invest in improving my skills which will at least give me a fruitful result. It's my personal opinion! No offense.
My son has done his masters in Project Management and he still without job.His OPT is getting over in Feb 24, what can he do?

India only has IT jobs. And IT has horrible work environment. Besides IT other core engineering jobs are very very short in supply, underpay and below potential of degree as well.

But those were either ones too dumb to land jobs abroad, had a lot of money in India or ones who were above average to extraordinary people who managed to get a job in a product based company rather than service sector companies. Service sector companies like TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, Cognizant and thousands of such middleman like leeching companies. Many people transferred their jobs to India as well if it was possible for them. Though most returning ones are from IT background.

Indians had abused the H1b visa applications and now have made many restrictions on Indian students.I know it's not fair for the genuine people. What else had happened a lot of Americans with the same qualifications as international students, were not getting hired so that was not how things should work if a citizen is not being hired but an international person is being preferred. Another thing is that people come here of their own will and the USA is not obligated to give international people work. Stay in India and make India the next land of opportunity where people want to come to India to work and live.
The USA should not give non-Westerners to HI-B Visas. If someone wants to work in the USA, those HI-B Visas should go to Westerners instead🇺🇸

There are millions of Americans talented professionals needs jobs and they are ( AMERICAN CITIZENS) has more priorities than you or any H1B visa applicant, .. by the way I was not born in USA but I was migrated US as refugee and went to school here.. First thing is that you are not an American and you have migrated there as a refugee and this applies to you as well as you stole one of the American's job and remember America developed to this stage because of the contribution of Highly skilled and most talented Indians

Well you're not an American yourself and you contradicted yourself multiple times in your own statement. Why did you move to the US in the first place if you believe people should stay in their own countries? And for the taxes, international students who get jobs pay the same taxes after paying 2x for the degrees than the local students.
Every country should prefer their own locals for jobs, but most of these advanced jobs do not enough local talent to fill them, which is why companies go for sponsoring international students when they find better candidates. So stop whining and WORK HARDER.
