- Senator Josh Hawley questions Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, commander of the United States Central Command, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and General Mark Milley during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the conclusion of military operations in Afghanistan.
When I served, America was still America. Heartbreaking and unbelievable that this entire operation was the biggest CLUSTERFUCK.

Wasn't it Trump who made a personal agreement with the Taliban chieftain to flee Afghanistan by May? In anaticipation, the Taliban quickly surrounded Kabul but Trump was no where toi be seen. But they were in position when Biden decided that delay meant tragedy. He moved. He saved 122,000. The naturalized Afghans who chose to remain in their country are slowly being evacuated by allied airlines. It was by far the most successful withdrawal in history. Completed whilst surrounded by the enemy. A suicide attack by ISIS marred total success. But other than that Biden won and so did the troops, especially the air crews. Hawley should examine his role in the Jan. 1 coup and resign.
There shouldn't have been a single Afghan on those planes until every American citizen was out.

BY contracting airstrips..to keep supplies in, and make it possible to evacuate wounded, he consolidated all the divisions under him! He reinforced the key position that needed to be held in a retreat..And he had set up 4 fully supplied and defended bases that they could resupply and use as they retreat.
The Chinese would have wiped out all the marines had they blindly listened to Mcarthur and leadership!! Like these generals did!

People don't join the military to serve generals & presidents. You're insulting the intelligence, bravery, and sacrifices of nearly 20 million veterans. And that number does not include all who have served in the military, just those who are alive today.

You do realize the most accountability comes with us right? This is not a dictatorship this is a Democratic Republic so we the people have the most power. The government cannot do things without our support. We allow them to stay in Afghanistan for 20 years with little opposition from the people. If the American people truly cared about what was happening in Afghanistan there's no way we could have lasted for twenty years. In the United States government gets its power from the people. It would be political suicide to go against a major backlash from the American people and stay in a war that the American people are demanding we end but instead it was crickets for 20 years for the most part.

The entire country supported the 20-year war in Afghanistan. Because we live in a Democratic Republic there's no way they could have stayed in Afghanistan for twenty years without the support of the American people. If the American people really had a problem with the war we would have risen up and demanded that they pull out but we didn't. We didn't because most Americans don't care. If we really cared there's no way they could have been in that country that long. There would have been thousands in the streets and their representatives would have been flooded with phone calls and letters and it would have been an absolute political nightmare until they bring the troops home but instead they were able to stay there for 20 years with little opposition. The ultimate blame goes to George Bush but also the presidents after him the administration the military and ultimately the people that have the most power in this country the citizens. The government gets its power from us and can only do what we allow them to do. We allowed this but as usual nobody wants to take accountability especially us.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to learn that some Afgan soldiers may have turned on American soldiers and killed. Given their disloyalty, I wouldn't put anything past them, there or here.
