Always liked Edwin Rosario and when the battle for Puerto Rico came, I was with Chapo vs Camacho. In fact, it was Rosario who made Camacho a runner almost ko'ing him in that fight.RIP
Bramble had never been knockdown in his career until this fight. It says a lot about Rosario's power. Edwin Viruet who fought Duran's twice when Duran was at his prime said that Rosario's power was ten time harder than Duran and Viruet never been Koed until he faced Rosario.
+ALwayserecto I just checked out that fight and it says that Rosario was 24-0 with 23 knockouts and yet this fight says hes 23-2 with 19 knockouts. How is that possible?
+ALwayserecto: Viruet has always hated Durán and seeks to demean him by talking trash. Duran and Viruet were almost the same age when they confronted each other. Viruet ran a lot in both fights to avoid being knocked out and did not present much offensive although it made a Duran deslucir that was expected to knock him out. What Viruet must remember when praising Rosario to demean Duran is that Rosario was 13 years younger than him and was in full swing while he was already in the twilight. Rosario was 19 years old against the 32 years of Viruet. If Viruet, 32, faces 21-year-old Duran, Panamanian annihilates him and wins him more deadly than Rosario did. Viruet's suit against Rosario was very uneven.
@jimbourg8 I agree. This was a shocking knockout. Bramble was tough as nails with a great chin at the time. Rosario just blew him away. I was stunned at this outcome.

You are spot on. But don't careers go that way? A guy comes up with talent and punching power, he learns to box and wins championships, then he may lose some big fights, then he may go back to being a brawler just to get decent fights late in his career? Arturo Gatti comes to mind, so does Bobby Chacon. El Chapo was great.......
Yes I was stunned. He lived a hard life .what heights he could of reached if it wasn't for drugs .but I still thing he, a boxing hall of Famer .RIP .champ not forgotten
Edwin Rosario is perhaps the hardest puncher the division ever had. He was already on drugs at this point of his career. I do honestly believe if he was not on drugs he would have destroyed Chavez, Randall, Ramirez and Mancini with ease. Waste of talent! Sad!
Jose Rodriguez I had the first fight with Ramirez a draw and of course we all know what happened in the rematch. I believe Rosario had taken drugs, but he wasn't taking them before the Chavez fight. Chavez was one tough SOB and he had the best chin I've ever seen on a fighter and Chavez was right there in Rosario's grill and Rosario landed his Sunday punches and Chavez never flinched. Chavez proceeded to beat Rosario down and easily beat Rosario's other nemesis with ease, both Ramirez and Camacho. In an ironic twist of fate, during the latter part of Chavez's career, really starting after the first Taylor fight Chavez started drinking quite a bit. He was even drinking during training camp. However, for the Whitaker fight, which he lost, he was clean for a while before that fight and trained his hardest. He even said himself that he was in the best shape of his life for the Whitaker fight. Rosario knew the threat Chavez poised, no way he went into that fight on drugs and not in shape. Had he not been in shape, he wouldn't have lasted 11 rounds. Chavez would've taken him out early if that was the case. Remember Rosario shot off his mouth saying he was going to send Chavez back to Mexico in a pine box. Another thing that is interesting is that people claim Rosario's gloves were loaded for this fight and people claimed that Chavez's gloves were loaded for all his fights. Excuses, excuses!
Certainly if Rosario had not been involved in drugs he would have defeated Chavez, Haranaka and Nazario. Rosario defeated Camacho, but was stolen by the judges in favor of Camacho. Every time Chavez lost a fight at one time his followers used the drug as excuses, but when some drug addict was defeated by Chavez, at once the same ones that justify Chavez's defeats affirm the opposite of the defeated boxer. It seems that drugs only affected Chavez, but not his adversaries who had the same vice
@@sinusbradycardia Chavez was screwing Selma the whole training camp even the day of the fight. For the Whittaker fight, when he said he was in the best shape of his life he was lying.
this was a time when every division was stacked several world class fighters especialy this lightweight rosario, bramble, camacho, ramerez, chavez, haugen, pazienza, mancini, randle, mayweather sweet pea no wonder freddie pendleton had 16 loses by 1989 and still went on to a title 130 lbs azumah nelson, fenech ,tony the tigar lopez calvin grove, juan laporte 126lbs paez 140lbstaylor , coggi, 147 starling, mcgirt, simon brown ,glenwood brown ,mark breland 154lbs terry noris, julian jackson, mugabi ,curry

Don't know what one of the posters thought was so funny about this ? Rosario completely devastated Bramble who was considered almost invincible at that time.......I thought it was one of the most devastating KO's I have ever seen......one of my top 10 ever !! Rosario was indeed a great and most underated boxer !!
Watch the Referee from 6:45 to the end with a first class job. Check specially at 7:05 - 7:10 where he is so close to both fighters that in fact, he is telling LB to respond! He shows real concern for the fighter. One of the most professional and dynamic showings I have seen by a Referee in more that 50 yrs of watching fights. Excellent!
Another good thing you will notice about the Referee is that you hardly see him blocking the view. Many Referees are always blocking the action, but not in this case. Take this tape to Referee Training school.
Used to watch these guys on ESPN. I think Randy Gordon and Sal Marciano were commentators. And maybe USA network too. Anyway, both these guys were tough SOBs. Rosario was a Helluva puncher, as I remember.......
What happened in the rematch, Arguello laid it all on the line in the 1st fight & Pryor took it all out of him because his dirty trainer Panama Lewis put something in his drink to help him, by the 2nd fight, all the fight was gone from Arguello, he knew he hit Pryor with everything including the kitchen sink and he didnt go down, yet lesser fighters had put pryor down, Panama cheated for him and cheated arguello, he should have won and would have, if not cheated, pryors chin not that good.
Worst thing that ever happened to bramble was win the title then the crazy party life and gets destroyed by Rosario. Now Rosario wins the title and the crazy party life takes down rosario also. The old saying is true. Keeping the title is harder than winning it.
I havent seen that on youtube, but I definitely remember it at the time, I never searched for it here, but immediately after the fight, he just flat appeared on drugs of some kind, anyway, his trainer was found to have put something in his drink, whatever it was, it juiced him big time for this one, Arguello was still a world class fighter at this time, he bent Pryor's head straight back and pryor acted as if it didnt happen, Pryor did not have a chin like that, he was on something, that helped
How can anyone say Boom boom would have beaten Rosario, Brambled beat Mancini easy, and Rosario beat Bramble easy, he would have done same to mancini, Rosario in his prime was awesome Ray Mancini was just an average fighter to come along at the right time, same as Harry Arroyo another average guy to be LW champ at around the time time period,
That referee should never have stopped Bramble from rushing at Rosario after the bell rang to start the fight. The round starts at the bell and it is up to the fighters to defend themselves. If Rosario chose to be on his knees when the bell rang that is too bad.
@sydnietaina Yes...Chapo one of the most underated champions' ever. He put everything together for this fight...great foot movement.... not wasting any punches...and putting his man away when he got him hurt. Many say Bramble quit.....Those that do just can't appreciated how hard Rosario hit. Livingstone just couldn't take anymore.
Agree, Chapo was bad @ss, he used to train with us when he was really into the drugs, he was way out of shape bare footed and stinky and used to come to the gym to get tips and even tough he was out of it he hited like a mule and gave us good tips. One of my favorites..
Chapo was a big puncher, goes to show everyone how great Chavez's chin was!! Chavez who took all of Rosario's best punches in thier fight. Bramble was a warrior his fight with Oba Carr was a dam good fight, dude looked like a pitbull in that fight..
I'm from the SF bay area. I knew BHOF member Johnny Gonzalves who at 70+ just showing me a punch hit the tip of my chin, I think I saw a couple of stars. Point is professional fighters no matter what their KO record is hit way harder than the average bear.
Rosario Knocks out Pryor if Lewis does not juice him up with that special concoction, if they had ever fought, Arguello would have beaten Pryor if not cheated by whatever drug was in that bottle that hyped up pryor.
I thoroughly enjoyed this beat down.

Rosario was naturally better, as most would agree, because of his skill, movement, etc. As well Rosario had some TNT in his punches (as you can see here). He doesn't get credit as often as he should for being such a solid puncher but he was powerful. Props to both of these guys..need guys like these today.
Rosario is since 2006..
I agree,to this day I still don't know why boxing fans won't give Chavez any credit.
lemonite 1 they don't have him on one of the major top All Time lightweight lists I was looking at other day??But they have Pernell??WTF count me as Incredulous
@@arthurwilliams8778 Whitaker was overrated as Hell. Ducked WAY too many good fighters.
Rasario was an extraordinary puncher. He had the unfortunate fate coming along in the same era with a fighter with an extraordinary chin - JC Chavez. Bramble had a pretty good chin as well.
Anyway, RIP Chapo, you are missed.
Fue muy bueno Rosario
Tough fighter. I remember Rosario nearly KO'd Camacho in round 5 of their fight. Damn drugs ruined a lot of good fighters.
Yeahhhhh Uncleee.i 💖you,I'm so proud, champions run in my bloodline. Real champs🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🔥yeahhhh baby tiosfoot skills on point💖💖💖💖💖💖💖,The man that's with me,will see my uncle.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏾👊🏾🇵🇷YESSSSsSSsSSsSs
Yo estudie con El Chapo en toa baja.high school
You are spot on. But don't careers go that way? A guy comes up with talent and punching power, he learns to box and wins championships, then he may lose some big fights, then he may go back to being a brawler just to get decent fights late in his career? Arturo Gatti comes to mind, so does Bobby Chacon. El Chapo was great.......
Damn I wish I could've met him.
Yo l was hurt when my boy Chapo passed away.
Sad!
Nothing but excuses LOL, he was on agood win streak when he faced chavez and it was a big fight, he was certainly prepared
Jajajajaja
I remember when Chapo had the first fight when he was 14 years old at MSG NYC
Todos pensabamos q El Chapo Rosario hiba a reponer Al Gran Alexis Arquello a final solo Chavez pudo
this was a time when every division was stacked several world class fighters especialy this lightweight rosario, bramble, camacho, ramerez, chavez, haugen, pazienza, mancini, randle, mayweather sweet pea no wonder freddie pendleton had 16 loses by 1989 and still went on to a title 130 lbs azumah nelson, fenech ,tony the tigar lopez calvin grove, juan laporte 126lbs paez 140lbstaylor , coggi, 147 starling, mcgirt, simon brown ,glenwood brown ,mark breland 154lbs terry noris, julian jackson, mugabi ,curry
In my opinion, Rosario was a great boxer. Some of the dirty pre-fight tactics Bramble has been known to use make it a pleasure to see him KO'd. :)
Great boxer sad ending.
Ivan Robinson had three fights with Arturo Gatti, after that he was never the same, Eric Morales had three fights with Marco Antonio Barrera, after that he was never the same, Riddick Bowe had those fights with Andrew Golota, after that he was never the same, Evander Holyfield had those three fights with Riddick Bowe, after that he really was never the same. Mickey Ward had three fights with Arturo Gatti, after that he had to retire. Fighters put their all into one fighter and lose everything.
When you hear the words; "Man, fu(beep) this sh(beep)".....Whelp, there ya have it.
Mi boricua. Edwin. Gran gallo de. Pelea. Mexico y puerto rico . y toda america .
its true chapó rosario lost to a legend of chavez but chapó rosario Was a natural hit man and he didnt train well. did drugs drank alcohol. plus the ladys night life etc. etc and still Was great.
What idiot...no real man. Stupid druggy
Julio César Chávez dijo que CHAPO Rosario había sido el boxeador con la PEGADA más fuerte con quien se había enfrentado a pesar de que Chávez le dio una pela
Bramble crumbled. We were all awaiting Comacho v Bramble . Absolute shocker for it's time.
One of the reasons Bramble may not have gotten up , was the body pounding he had taken just befor the KO....check out the shot to the ribs @ 6:59 !
Excellent!
Uppercut is underrated. Almost all the best punchers have a good uppercut in their arsenal
Bramble overconfident at the beginning, then panics and freezes when he realizes what he’s up against.
Sigue en la memoria de su pais y el mio PR tierra de campeones.
El Chapo tore his ass up...
EL CHAPO ROSARIO NO CREIA EN HUEVONES AHHHH JAJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAJAJAAJJAJAJA
Worst thing that ever happened to bramble was win the title then the crazy party life and gets destroyed by Rosario. Now Rosario wins the title and the crazy party life takes down rosario also. The old saying is true. Keeping the title is harder than winning it.
Not for Chavez he rules for 10 years without loosing 94 fights and 39 defenses still a record that will never will be broken
Rosario beat the man who beat the man. Rosario beat the guy who beat Chavez...Frankie Randall. Styles make fights.
I CAN'T believe it. ROSARIO is very heavy-handed and BRAMBLE paid for it.
How can anyone say Boom boom would have beaten Rosario, Brambled beat Mancini easy, and Rosario beat Bramble easy, he would have done same to mancini, Rosario in his prime was awesome Ray Mancini was just an average fighter to come along at the right time, same as Harry Arroyo another average guy to be LW champ at around the time time period,
Pryor's trainer Panama Lewis added some funny stuff to the water Pryor drank after the 13th round.
Rosario got beat EASY against Ramirez, Mancini pitched a shut out. See, it goes both ways and you cannot predict fights like that.
That referee should never have stopped Bramble from rushing at Rosario after the bell rang to start the fight. The round starts at the bell and it is up to the fighters to defend themselves. If Rosario chose to be on his knees when the bell rang that is too bad.
🔥💪🔥
It's a shame Bramble and Camacho never fought...
En una entrevista lo dijo Julio César Chávez que pegaba demasiado de fuerte una pena que la droga acabo con el
Why do we comment on Whitaker and Cahvez on a Rosario's fight?
If Rosario's chin had been just a little better, we would be talking about an all time great.
Chapo had to be one of the hardest punchers EVER.
