    So which one would you choose and why based on the this analysis?

    • @TheLearningsReport
      @TheLearningsReport  2 роки тому

      Hey Caleb - Great question, and although I can't give you the 'right' answer, I can give you the choice that I (Ste) made. I went with TIGR Brokers at the time of recording. I still hold those shares, but since publishing, the stock has performed horribly 😆 That being said, FUTU also has been struggling - largely due to the regulatory pressures and rumours surrounding Chinese discount brokers. At the time of the video, TIGR was the smaller of the two and I liked it's growth trajectory. I also felt TIGR was more of a pure-play trading app whereby FUTU has a few more bits to its business than just trades (neither a positive or negative necessarily, just an observation).
      Anyway, I plan on riding the storm for now - but safe to say I haven't made money from TIGR just yet!

    Great video guys. Love all your videos.
    One question.
    How do I analysis the growth estimates on yahoo.
    Take this as an example.
    Current qtr = -74% est growth.
    Next qtr = -28%
    Current year = -2%
    Next year = +26%
    Next 5 years = +36%
    Obviously it’s going to grow. But when do I buy based on this info.
    How to analysis this.
    Should I buy now. Or buy next quarter.

    • @TheLearningsReport
      @TheLearningsReport  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Jerry - love it, thanks for following along. Out of interest, what stock did you use for your example? I'd like to take a look.
      In short though, it depends on your investing horizon. The old adage really applies here i.e. time in the market is better than trying to time the market. If you plan to hold for the long-term (3, 5, 10+ years...) then one quarter to another will make very little difference over the long run.
      If you like the company, you believe in what they do, and you only see them getting bigger - there's no reason why you shouldn't take a nibble of them now.
      Buy a piece, perhaps give it until next quarter, buy another bit, see how the company is performing, add a bit more...at least that way you average in to the position.
      Alternatively, you could just buy it all now, sit back, and forget about it. It's really up to you!

      @@TheLearningsReport hey ste. Cheers for the reply. I totally get and agree with what your saying but I’d still like to get a handle on how to analysis this particular bit of information. Obviously I will DCA over time in all investments but when I first come across a stock I’d like to be able to work this bit out better. Personally I think One should buy in a dip. So if the analysist say current qtr is minus and next qtr is minus then should I buy now or next qtr to begin my DCA. I suppose that’s my question. Thanks so much again for the reply. Wasn’t expecting one to be honest. Love the channel.

    • @TheLearningsReport
      @TheLearningsReport  2 роки тому

      @@jerrywarren9304 hey Jerry,
      Got it, so are you effectively trying to skip the worst of the growth decrease based on the analyst's estimates?
      As a general guidance, we would advise people to not try to time the market. As you're aware, it is very difficult to predict a dip or what will happen in the future. Analysts' estimates are a great indicator but they are estimates at the end of the day. The growth could continue to decline after you buy next quarter for example. It probably comes down to when you feel confident that it is the right time to buy.
      And of course, as you and Ste mentioned, DCA is a way to mitigate the risk of timing the market but also taking advantage of the growth.
      Glad you're enjoying the channel! We do want to do more analysis videos in the future so stay tuned. :)
