Also I have a question, you have way more experience with this game than I do. I noticed that a few times you chose bucks that showed a smaller rack size range over the larger, like once I noticed you picked one that said like 145-189 when there was another next to it that was like 151-195. I know that's not really any difference, but is that estimate a little off when spotting deer, as in could the one with the lower estimation end up being higher than the top of it's range or at least larger than the other?
Seems the whitetail are generally smaller on Layton Lakes compared to the Mississippi map, I started playing call of the wild again recently and I mainly hunt whitetail. When I first played this game I played Layton Lakes because of whitetail, and even after more whitetail maps released I mainly stuck to Layton Lakes. Anyway, I noticed the rack size of your deer in this video, like the first few you shot were all smaller than the smallest I have shot since getting back on the game and playing Mississippi. I've only played maybe 5 hours recently, but in that time I have taken a 237, 236, 226, and a ton of 190+ deer. The map seems like it would be difficult due to the thickness and lack of open areas and water compared to layton lakes or rancho. I prefer archery as well, and I've actually been hunting the same spots consistently from tree stands, and only one is near water. The rest are deep in the center of wooded areas, some are near feeding/resting areas but most are just in spots that I thought looked cool and seemed like somewhere I'd bow hunt IRL. It's pretty easy to go to a stand and call up some whitetail into compound range, and it's fun for me cause the land is a lot like what I have here in Georgia. Anyway, I just found your channel so idk you could have already played that map a lot, but if not I'd definitely check it out. The bottom left, bottom right, and the center left to right and slightly above center height of the map have been great for me with whitetail. I've never tried to spawn great ones or even really find diamonds, but I have taken the biggest deer ever in this game on that map. I had a 237 from before on rancho but I beat it by a few tenths with my new 237. I think I had bigger from way back on xbox on layton lakes, but that was a diamond and all the ones I've taken since coming to PC have been gold/silver/bronze
but I'm definitely not saying that it's all about size, it's nice to see someone uploading gameplay that isn't just grinding for great ones lol, doing what you like is more fun. I have passed up bigger deer to take smaller ones just because I liked their rack, whether it just looked cool and unique or reminded me of deer I have seen IRL. Sometimes it's more immersive to take like a small 8 point (small for the game's standards anyway), and 6 pointers seem to be so rare that I take them almost every chance I get
From my experience, 1500 +hrs, Mississippi does not have bigger whitetail. You’re just hunting initial spawns. Initial spawns always start with lots of nice golds and even a diamond or two at times. DD33 has killed thousands of whitetail from Layton so all his whitetail are far from initial spawn. After you shoot through most of the initial spawns, lots of those big golds you’re getting will come back as bronze and silvers. On top of all the bronze and silvers you left alive, your map will turn into exactly what dd33’s is, mostly bronze and silvers. Seems to happen to every map. Layton, Mississippi, rancho, Rev, or NEM. There’s no one map where you will find considerably more “bigger” whitetail than the other. The differences in the maps are more towards the species, visuals and the difficulty of the hunt. Quality of populations don’t differ as much as you might think, although they seem to a little.
That south coast is my best place to grind whitetail. At least 4 whitetail drinkzones over there. Moose & bears too

It confirms the total inaccuracy of the crossbow even with a good scope, which is a shame because I love the feeling and the sound of it.

I usually go for the ones with the most realistic and coolest looking racks first
