It's the total package! As you said, it is a very pleasing song, one that isn't too much of anything, and that will appeal to so many people. It was also a huge departure from EXO's previous sounds and Korea just ATE IT UP! Everyone knows the song, everyone knows the choreo. Luhan's part is totally angelic, he definitely stands out in this one. And Sehun's hair?! My favorite thing about this whole era!! He ROCKED the platinum blond look. I just love how aggressive and smooth EXO was during their rookie days. Never seen that passion from any other Kpop group honestly. Their facial expressions and performance level that time look like they're hungry for success which is a very good mindset for a rookie group. No wonder they definitely did it. ❤️ Also, I just love the way EXO been flexing their vocals since debut. Been looking for a group who can do the same thing for how many years but I only found MAMAMOO. I was not an og exo-l but i heard that this song was a widely used confession song back then 😅 crazy right. And yeah, i guess the simplicity of the instruments and everything was what made the song really catchy and youthful back then. I can totally understand too why it blew up in korea that time. Maybe that's the reason Growl to be alive till now, not to be forgotten and people still to love it. Actually the song is very popular in China too. Just few days ago a clip went viral on YT - a girl covered it in a Chinese music competition show. She did a great job with her rearanged version. Luhan is a great singer and he is very, very popular and one of the top artists in China, you can check out his music, it worths.

Fun fact time~~~^.^ According to EXO, the whispered "sexy" is Suho^.^ The BWCW you see on some of the clothing in the streetwear shots for the 2nd versions stands for "Boy Who Cried Wolf" This was a clothing line that was sold in little pop-up shops/cafes for EXO during this era; the EXO members went in the shops and were given free reign to write all over the walls and stuff (there's video of them doing this if you wanna search it up)^.^ They even used one of the shops in Chanyeol's birthday episode of EXO's Showtime and the infamous Twilight MMA VCR~~~^.^ 20:50 I might've mentioned it before (cause Luhan is my favorite topic^.^), but yeah Luhan has a really soft, angelic voice (like Suho~); he doesn't really get the power vocal moments but his moments are really attention grabbing~ Also, he does get quite a few moments in Korean versions cause he was/is very fluent in Korean; he was attending a Korean college to study Korean and music when he was scouted, and his Korean was fluent enough that people thought he was Korean when he was a trainee (a *lot* of people thought he and Sehun were brothers/twins)^.^ Between Wolf and Growl's choreos, EXO's knees and shins got really scrapped and bruised (you maybe noticed the kneepads Suho was wearing in the one-take version for Growl~) And keep in mind some of these members have bad knees before even debut. In EXO's 1st Box(?) they showed what their knees looked like from the choreos, and it was not pretty... There was a post going around Twitter about a dancer just learning Suho's part alone in Wolf, and the pictures of the dancer's knee... @@Rennari They've changed up the choreo for Wolf and Growl slightly over the years; now they tend to mostly just not go as hard or opt out of the slides/floorwork, like the Growl stage for Elyxion (which had actually *more* aggressive choreo than the original version imo, or the boys got better at looking aggressive^.^), but even that I think still has one floor/leg sweep move & they still do the rap part and all its' moves~ *** I just double-checked, but yeah~ even for Exploration, their last group tour, they were still doing the floorwork for Growl~ *BUT* the thing is during 2013 EXO was performing Wolf & Growl multiple times a week (probably up to 4-7 times a week, they were so in demand & promoted) nearly every week. For a tour like Exploration it would be a shortened version 6 times or so a month^.^
