Tripping on Travel: Mansfield Hollow State Park, part 3, Mansfield, CT

In this 3rd part, I'm walking back uphill from the shoreline of the reservoir. I'm wearing the wrong shoes for the terrain. On the way down, I risked slipping on pine needles and tripping on tree roots. But I had more control when walking back up the trail. It's very quiet footage. Some birds, but no highway traffic or passenger jets in the sky are heard. Despite the terrain, the environment is very pleasant and the park is a wonderful experience.
Mansfield Hollow State Park basically traces back to an Army Corp of Engineers project built between 1949 and 1952. As explained by the Outdoor Project website, "the project was designed to substantially reduce flooding along the Quinebaug, Shetucket, and Thames rivers. The result is a recreational water body and a reservoir for local towns." And thus, Mansfield Hollow Dam, and Lake, were born. "Swimming is not allowed, but sailboats, canoes, and small powerboats are all welcomed on the lake."
