Absolutely love that ski. I was pretty rusty after a long ski break and it came with me as I got my mojo back. A great ski to progress from intermediate to advanced. Lots of fun in the trees and pretty good grip chasing my son around. FYI the color I have is Celeste(like Bianchi bikes). I’m older than you and it was a no brainer color choice. 😊
Currently on ranger 92ti 178cm. Looking at a set of these 102s. The 92ti are definitely have a charging attitude. Would these 102s make a better all mountain ski? I know they are more playful, didn't know if they were to wide. Go with 176cm on the 102s? I'm 5'11 165lbs.
Hey so I can speak to this. I just demoed the 102’s yesterday and I’m seriously thinking about buying a pair (in turquoise ha!). I skied them in variable conditions in the interior of BC. Tried them on groomers, chewed up bumps, and some soft snow. I’m 5’10 180lbs, and I skied the 176. They were fun! Light, easy to chuck around, either edge to edge in quick carving turns, or to flick the tails out. I also tried some long high speed turns and they held very well, minimal chatter, and gave me confidence, but they didn’t have the blasting-through-crap power of heavier metal skis like Nordica Enforcer 100’s (which I hated - they were just too heavy for me and I didn’t have the strength or talent to drive them through moguls or anything else). For context, I’m an advancing intermediate/advanced skier, I ski everything on the mountain and am working on my technique to build confidence on double blacks and blacks in shit conditions. I don’t have a racing background which I think is important to consider - many expert level reviewers like skis that I find are too much for non-racers. I demoed Nordica Enforcer 100, Fischer Ranger 102, Head Kore 93, Faction Prodigy 2, Atomic Bent 100, Armada ARV 100. Kore carved well but I had trouble getting the tails to kick out on bumps and chewed up terrain unless my balance and positioning were perfect. Even slightly in the back seat, I struggled. I want to try to 105 but I think it’s just stiffer than I’m looking for in a ski. Prodigy’s were a bit heavy (might have been the demo bindings, tho). They really wanted to go fast and straight! Had to work to make them turn quick and short. Not as playful as I’m looking for. Bent 100 was better/more playful than Prodigy for me. Still heavy but I could flick it around with work. Held well on high speed arcs too. Heavy enough to plow through crap. Possibly the best of the day and a candidate against the Fischer Rangers. Armada ARV 100 were maybe most like the Rangers. Lighter, softer, and even easier to chuck around than the Bent. Maybe not as confidence inspiring at high speed but still did the job, but, then again, the only length they had was short for me (171) so I’d like to try them again closer to my height at 178. I have to go back for another demo day to confirm, but I think my money is on the Rangers. Hope that helps!
Great review. Curious about the 108 vs. a Hannibal 106. Recognizing the weigh is an “issue” im looking for a heli + BC powder ski (FWIW I have the Ranger 98 already).
That's a tough one. This year I have been doing a lot of BC skiing that requires at least a mile trail in before I even start up my preferred skiing zone. If you do a lot of that, then go Hannibal. But if it is mostly laps or hoping in and out of a Heliers/Snow cat go Rangers-for sure. HAVE FUN!!!
@@mainstreamMTNguy fair enough! I saw a report that the TransAlp is getting updated and appears to have a 105 (no mention of Hannibal) so perhaps waiting a year will do me some good
@@mainstreamMTNguy thabks for the review. I think I'll keep riding the old pink ski Ranger 102FR for another season then. I like the playful yet stout feeling of that version. The speed limit on it is high enough that you can really go hard but yet its light enough to have fun in trees and tight terrain.

Nice! Sounds like you are having fun out there! Keep it up!
That Celeste color is on point!! I’m 40 and wouldn’t shy away from that at all. Love the pink 102 FR!
I always wanted to buy two pairs that way I could go one pink, one blue!
Great review thanks. Currently on the ranger 99ti but ordered these last week. Can’t wait to take em out.
You'll love them!

They would be a more versatile all mountain all snow depths ski than the 92ti. I think the 102 are a great western one ski quiver.
@@craigpiefer7839thanks for your reply, have you been on the ranger 96?

Grandpa can go with light pink
You picked the wrong color…😛
Agreed. Pretty boring - Navy Blue.
So its a Rustler 10...
Definitely a similar feel.
