  • While they refer to this bike as a middle weight, I call it a light weight bike at just 412 pounds. It's liquid cooled, chain driven and a lot of fun to ride. I think this is a great starter bike that you can actually grow into for years of fun on the road. It's got enough power to get you up to freeway speed quickly and for the just under $9,000.00, I think this a good value for your dollar. The retro look is also appealing to me. I like the candy emerald green color though, I never thought I'd like green on any bike. Your seating position is slightly forward with some reliance on your wrist, hands and arms so I wouldn't say it's for distance. Maybe a hundred to hundred fifty miles and you'll probably need a break but you'll need gas by then anyway to it works out.
The link to the specs are listed above at the end of the video in case you missed them and thanks to Kawasaki for letting me play around on this fun motorcycle.

The Z650RS is a beautiful motorcycle. The size, weight and the seat height would be perfect for a beginner. But it has way too much power for a newbie. To say this is a good beginner bike is a good way to get a lot of beginners KILLED. I think it would be a great second bike, after the newbie has some experince under their belt. I'm 70 years old and I'd still love to own one.

In all fairness, you could get killed on a 250cc or even a 125cc scooter, It just depends on the accident and if you're wearing protection, speeding, the other guys speed. I would like to add that this is a bike for someone "responsible" maybe an older beginner, but maybe not an 18 year old beginner.

@@CasualCruiser Agreed, an eighteen year old doesn't have enough sense to handle that kind of power, at least I didn't when I was eighteen. I only knew two positions of the throttle, all the way off... ot all the way on.

Pretty nostalgic ride! It's no H2 triple! But, a darn cool ride nonetheless! Great vid as usual! Thanks Clint!

I want to ride the H2. In fact, you just gave me my next bike to review if I can get it. Thanks for kudos on the video. I really appreciate it. Ride safely.

These guys keep saying entry level, starter bike but my friend who sells these at a dealership says most of the people who buy the Z650 RS model are over 40 years old. I'm 69 and have been riding over 50 years and just bought one. Also, this is a very easy bike to ride "does have a somewhat snatchy throttle" but I would never recommend it to a person with absolutely no riding experience.

Hey man, I'm from India. Pin me. Thanks.
I'm buying my first bike in a few months. I'm in my late 20s. I'm a beginner. I'm looking for a beginner bike.

If you don't mind, tell me your height and how many times you've ridden, if at all. I'll do my best to suggest a few bikes.
